Ok so I’m going to explain this AU for any person who happens to want to read it! Very self indulgent but who cares. This post contains MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR CH2
Basically, the AU takes place before getting those mystery calls that ruined his life. Instead he gets like, scouted by Mettaton! He’d technically be from the TV world seeing as he’s a proper celebrity, but seeing as Ralsei could come to Cyberworld (and since canonically Spamton knew Mike from the TV world) I think it makes enough sense ts just have fun. I got the idea for this from a similar AU made by @fconvicted! They make actual art for theirs too and it looks amazing, so definitely go and check them out! I love it a lot! The AUs are fairly similar so I want to give full credit to them first.
Some differences: Mine focuses on Addison Spam instead of the more current Spamton (Who I will call Spam), and it all still takes place with Lightners and Darkners being separate! With Mettaton being another Darkner from the TV world. I’m aware the timeline wouldn’t actually line up but like, if Mike talked to Spamton before Kris created the Dark World in their house there has to be some sense to it right? Also it doesn’t involve SOULS at all really! Spamton and Mettaton both have similar backstories if fan theory is to be believed. Mettaton used to be a ghost nobody would notice, but still had big dreams of being a great star. Spam was the littlest Addison struggling to make any sales and be successful like the others, but he never stopped trying to become a Big Shot. So, Mettaton needs someone who can advertise for him. Makeup, clothes, the talk show, and whatever other ventures Mettaton decides to take. So, when he learns about these Addisons, he figures one would have to be the perfect fit. Nobody expected Spam to get any attention at all, but Mettaton sees something very familiar in him. He’s not like the others with their cool confidence and expectations of instant success. Addi-Spam is there giving it his all, really chomping at the bit for this opportunity being presented to him. TV deals, a huge media presence, and the help of an incredibly successful celebrity. It’s *his shot*. Mettaton likes that about him. He likes his energy, his loudness and determination to be great even when he’s so low on the social ladder. It reminds him of himself. Mettaton, obviously, selects Spam to be his second-face of the brand, and of course Spam is thrilled about it. The others try to be supportive, but the jealousy starts to creep in immediately. It only gets worse when his face starts to be plastered everywhere. However, unlike in canon they don’t abandon him entirely. See, they get a sort of residual success being associated with Spam seeing as he’s a TV-celebrity in a way. Even more so because Spam is working with a REAL beloved celebrity. Plus, if they do abandon him and hurt his feelings people will find out and it would make them seem villainous. So they stick around and lie to his face about being really proud of him, and behind his back they’ll have bitter conversations about how Mettaton probably only picked him because it would be good PR. “Failure to Famous is less than a week! See how generous TV-Star takes in struggling salesman and turns his life around! I bet it was all just to get a better reputation. Spam doesn’t have anything real to offer that we couldn’t do better.”Â
Spam is genuinely happy and is completely falling for it, if mostly because he’s desperate fot it to be the truth. Mettaton can see right through it, but keeps it to himself. He doesn’t want it to crush Spam. That’s kinda the whole thing! Not super interesting, just something fun I figured it couldn’t hurt to share. It’s fine if you read this and didn’t like it but please don’t be mean about it if that’s the case!
