I’ve replayed FF7 like 8693986 times at this point and I can safely say he’s my favorite character-- I understand people are a little turned off because his first appearance comes across as a bit of a bad stereotype but, shit, that all changes the second you meet Marlene

I have so many feelings about Barret’s character arc/development & how he goes from “let’s burn it all down because in the end it’s good for the world even if there are casualties; it’s just the price you pay to keep the planet alive, dramatic shrug emoji” to “hey yeah maybe we shouldn’t do that, I’ve now seen the devastation I’ve personally wrought on innocent people and it’s unbearable, and also I can’t handle the thought of not being there for my daughter because everything I do, I do for her” like 😭 😭 😭 😭 

He’s such a good dad and I feel like he’s super overlooked by the fandom and that makes me so sad I LOVE YOU BARRET
