That one time I went gallivanting through Paris! From the Eiffel Tower to the Champs-Élysées..the Love-lock bridge to Château de Versailles and our wine and cheese tasting at Harvey's cute little shop; I was floating on a joy-filled cloud my entire stay! I had the most amazing food (Lawdd the food😩) and may or may not have had a Nutella filled crepe every 3hrs 👀🤷🏽‍♀️. 5 years ago today, I made the scariest decision ever! I moved across the country from PG county, MD after just turning 22. I was a recent graduate, bright eyed, bushy tailed and hungry. I remember the mixed feedback I received when I shared my dream to one day be a California girl. Most didn’t believe me and many told me the horror stories they heard through the grapevine; accounts of those that didn’t make it and had to journey back home. I was told of how expensive it was and warned that one shouldn’t live where they vacation (lol). I remember only having one response to all of the noise “I am meant for this!” but the truth is I was TERRIFIED! I knew the universe was calling me out of my comfort zone and I had to show up. As rewarding as these past 5 years have been they have not been easy but the constant thought that I have to succeed (not to prove anything to the naysayers) keeps me pushing. GOD KEEPS ME PUSHING. His promise that he is so for me KEEPS ME PUSHING. I’ve learned to hold on to my faith especially when I have nothing and no one. Believe me, there is a special type of resilience that forms when you leave behind everything you know and love. I count it all joy and it's all starting to make sense. (The last pic pretty much sums up my life so far!😩🙌🏾) Thankful for all of the beautiful souls I’ve met so far..Here’s to many more years to come! ✨☺️🥂 Ps. Are you adding value? Yesterday I sat with friends and discussed community, love, standing up for something greater than ourselves. I wrestled with thoughts of what I was doing and how I could do more while simultaneously discounting my "small" deeds. I read the excerpt pictured this morning and peace settled in. Yes! We can always do more! More volunteering, more mentoring, more speaking out against injustice, but understand that even if you are not starting a non-profit, organizing a march, feeding the homeless every week, your deeds matter. That person you uplifted when they seemed down, the conversations you have that help shift negatives into positives, the last dollar you gave when you had nothing, the love you share intentionally all add value. God empowers even the tiniest of deeds. They make an impact. I encourage you to continue to do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can. What sustains you? Over the past few months I’ve lessened my social media engagement, outside of my Snapchat (super private). I’ve also paused my show “WeBrunch” because I honestly haven’t had anything to say. In my mind, I’ve had no real value to add recently. Which is ok and happens from time to time. This is not a self-deprecating view it’s a real and honest one. I’ve been placed on hiatus in most areas of my life since last October. Those outside of my circle can not comprehend how things work for me. I posted an image of myself not to long ago captioned “Just because you don’t see it…doesn’t mean it isn’t happening” This is the headline of the season I’m in. Things are constantly happening behind the scene without my knowledge but working together for my good. I decided while in Ecuador that I had sustained myself long enough. I found peace there and I brought it home with me. There is a remarkable sense of assurance that I wake up to daily knowing that the creator of the universe is on my side. Work works, Love works, every intricate piece of Life works because of this. It’s a beautiful thing. So I want to encourage you to be still. Don’t fight this season that doesn’t require you to do much. Embrace it. Sending you all of the Love, Hope and Peace you may need this week❤️ (at Pasadena, California)
