Remus lupin x shy!reader

You spent all of your 5 years in Hogwarts trying not to attract any sort of attention from anyone, you were pretty content with only having a few friends, your said friends being Lily and Mary, being the complete opposite of you. But that never really bothered you, you liked that most of the well deserved attention went to your friends instead of you. That is until a certain marauder took interest in you. Remus Lupin, you wouldn’t consider yourselves to be friends. Of course, you’ve only interacted with him a few times, but you liked his easy presence and that he wasn’t as loud as his other friends.

Remus Lupin has never once imagined himself to be in a romantic relationship, he was too scared of the thought of accidentally hurting his partner. Which is why he convinced himself that he was better off without a partner. He believed that till he saw you for the first time, he wouldn’t fall for someone at first sight, he didn’t care too much about looks, but oh boy did that change when he saw you! You were sitting on a bench with your friends, and you had laughed at something they said. Remus and the other marauders happened to be walking by, he glanced over to you, and oh! Time suddenly slowed down for him as you smiled, the sunlight hitting your face just right, and suddenly there were flowers blooming behind you!?

Remus snapped out of it after he bumped into James, and only then did he realize he was staring at you. You noticed his gaze almost immediately and turned your head away. James, Sirius, and Peter all followed Remus’ gaze. Sirius let out a low whistle while James started waving enthusiastically at Lily, who couldn’t be more disinterested, Remus shoved them and ushered them to keep on walking.

You sighed a breath of relief as they walked off, hoping that would be the end of it. You knew the marauders were trouble, and trouble was the last thing you wanted.

Quidditch matches, you weren’t a big fan of them, mostly because most people are screaming into your ears the whole time. But after enough pestering you had given in to your friends' pleading and went to a Quidditch game with them. You regretted it almost instantly but stayed nonetheless for your oh-so-dear friends. The match was Gryffindor against Ravenclaw. Lily, Marlene, and Mary were all cheering loudly for Gryffindor, you cheered softly whenever Gryffindor scored a point.

It was a cold autumn day, you’d much rather be in your room sleeping under a cozy blanket, but alas, you had to endure this for your friends. Lily suddenly announced she needed to go to the lavatory, but unfortunately for you, you didn’t hear her over the cheering. Remus, who was previously beside Lily, took this opportunity to scoot beside you in hopes of striking up a conversation. “They sure are fast, I can hardly keep my eyes on them," you said, while leaning to the person to your side, expecting to lean onto Lily. What you didn’t expect was leaning onto Remus, who was more than willing to let you. Your shoulders tensed as you jerked away, and you offered a quiet apology. Remus chuckled in response. “I don’t usually bite, you know.”

You smiled awkwardly and raised your hands slightly, you saw Remus opening his mouth to say something, but thankfully Lily managed to interrupt him and take back her seat from Remus.

As you looked back at Remus, he had a subtle pout, but it quickly turned into a smile when you made eye contact. You quickly looked away and leaned your head on Marlene’s shoulder instead. Marlene glanced over at you and smiled. “Aww, looks like someone’s tired already.” You scrunched your nose slightly as you pinched her side, earning a yelp from Marlene and snickering from Lily and Mary.

You sat on your bed listening to the music that played downstairs, Gryffindor had won that Quidditch match, much to Ravenclaw’s dismay. Which is why they were throwing a party downstairs in the common room. Much to your friends' disappointment, they could not convince you to join the party, you glanced at the clock on the wall, 11:29 pm. You really, really wanted to sleep, but the music downstairs was just too loud!

You heard a faint knock on your dorm room. You weren’t sure if you were hearing things or not, but then you heard it again. You got up from your bed and opened the door to find Remus standing there. “Hi, mind if I stay here for a while? Sirius is drunk, and he won’t let me read in silence.” You knew your friends were close with the marauders, so you didn’t think they’d mind if Remus stayed here for a while.

You nodded slightly and stepped aside to let him in. Remus mimicked your nod and sat down on the floor near your bed. You climbed onto your bed but felt tense with the new presence in the room. Remus noticed the tension on your shoulders. "Why don’t you sit next to me? I can tell you’re cold.” You started to shake your head in refusal, but he suddenly pulled out a bar of chocolate. Was he seriously trying to bribe you!?

Much to your dismay, it worked, you begrudgingly got off the bed and sat down beside him, wearily taking a piece of chocolate. “Atta girl." You could feel Remus's smile without even looking at his face. As much as you hate to admit this, his easy presence was relaxing you too much. Remus noticed the shift in your mood and gently placed a hand on the side of your head and pulled it onto his shoulder. You wanted to pull away, but drowsiness washed over you as Remus’ abnormally warm body heat seeped into yours. You eventually fell asleep against your will, as Remus gently stroked your hair.

Lily, Mary, and Marlene were definitely not expecting to see such a cute view when they returned from the party.

As you entered the cafe you worked at for your shift, you spotted two men sitting on the corner table. One had dark curly hair, well built, and darkly handsome, the other had brown hair, with faded scars, and brown eyes. The one with dark curly hair was the one that really caught your attention. Before you even realized you were staring he suddenly glanced your way. He threw you a wink, your cheeks began to heat as you quickly made your way to the back.

As you put on your apron, you couldn’t help but feel a sense of recognition for the man. You didn’t seem to recall any interactions with him, and he wasn’t really a regular customer.

You shoved your thoughts aside as you went out to the front and began taking orders. But the thing was, you couldn’t stop looking at him. Even if you didn’t mean to, your mind and gaze would wander back to him. So after they left, you let out a sigh of relief as you finally started thinking straight.

As you walked out the cafe after your shift finished, you saw an oddly familiar dog , sitting on the pavement. “Padfoot?” You called out, Padfoot turned his head towards you as he practically jumped on you. He started licking your face happily but he eventually settled down. “Gross, is that really how you greet me..” You sighed but couldn’t help but smile down at the big dog that just attacked your face with saliva.

“What’re you doing here, boy? How’d you know I work here?” As you were happily petting him, another voice suddenly rang out from behind. As you turned your head, you saw the same man from earlier. Padfoot huffed as he approached the man, as you met the man’s gaze he offered a polite smile towards you. You blinked as you quickly reciprocated his smile.

“I should probably introduce myself since my dog here has taken quite a liking to you.” Padfoot barked after he said that and gently nipped at his leg, “My name is Remus Lupin.” You chuckled softly as you quickly introduced yourself back. You and Remus chatted for a while but you excused yourself after it started getting dark, you waved goodbye to Remus and Padfoot and hurried off.

After you left Remus ushered padfoot into a secluded alley way so he could turn back, after Sirius turned back he leaned against the wall with a lovesick smile on his face. “Bloody hell mate, Y/N is so sweet and good to me. I mean I could totally charm them with or without padfoot, don’t you think?” Sirius said as he turned to Remus.

Remus shook his head slightly and sighed, “Even if you managed to charm them, you don’t know them well enough tried know how’d they react to you being a wizard.” He glanced at Sirius who still had the love sick look.

“We’ll see, I bet you 50 galleons I can charm them without Padfoot, I mean come on! I already caught their attention! Didn’t you see the way they stared at me earlier? It’s like they already knew I was padfoot!” Remus sighed loudly as he walked off shaking his head, while Sirius trailed behind him, still ranting about you.

Pt 2

You squinted at the alarm clock on your bedside table as the time showed, 12:28 pm. It was your day off from work today so you had let yourself sleep in. You huffed lightly as you sat up, your hair a tangled mess as you made your way to your kitchen.

You glanced out your window while spreading butter on your toast, it was raining pretty heavily outside. Then suddenly something black outside caught your eyes, you placed the toast on a plate and peered out your window.

There sat a big dog on your porch, poor thing was shivering and clearly seeking shelter from the rain. You made a decision to let it stay in your house for the time being, just until the rain stopped, you told yourself. You opened your door and called out to the dog, he turned his head towards you and slowly approached. You held out a hand for him to sniff and eventually got him to willingly come inside.

Before you could even finish closing the door, it started shaking off all the water on his fur getting you wet. “Tsk, a charming one aren’t you?” You said, all you got in return was a bark and tail wagging.

You rolled your eyes and bent down to gently pat his head, you glanced down and noticed a collar around his neck. “Padfoot, huh? What’re you doing outside at a time like this? Aww, poor baby, must’ve been cold outside before I let you in.” You cooed, as you continued to pat Padfoot’s head.

“Are you hungry sweet thing?” Padfoots tail started wagging faster as your answer. You chuckled as you made your way back to your kitchen to heat up leftover chicken you had last night. While Padfoot trotted over near your heater and laid down infront of it, clearly content.

You made your way back to the living room with your food and his food. You placed the container down in front of him before sitting down on your couch. Padfoot happily ate his food, after he finished it he made his way over to you and hopped on your couch laying his head on your lap. “Such a sweet thing aren’t you?”

After a while the rain finally cleared up, safe to say you were sad to see Padfoot go. Before he left, you gently kissed his forehead. “Come back if you ever need anything, yeah?” He licked your face as a response and ran off.

Maybe this isn’t the last time you’ll see him.
