I've watched seven Ryan Gosling movies so far, and there's three on my watchlist. Any suggestions for ones I should add?
Already seen: Fall Guy, Gray Man, Stay, Fracture, Place Beyond the Pines, Barbie, Drive
Watchlist: Lars and the Real Girl, La La Land, Project Hail Mary
I may or may not have started the trans K AU 👉👈 I'm only on the planning stage rn though
: O
I'm so excited, please keep me updated, I'm already invested!!
Finished Fracture, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, it was so good! Good mystery, lots of twists and turns. Didn't expect the final twist, but I did expect the police backup once Willy left the house. The music was awesome, too, loved it! Really fun watch, great cast, too, and I liked how it ended in the courtroom, that was really interesting /pos.
Watching Fracture 2007 and Ryan Gosling did not show up for the first fifteen minutes 😔 I was getting worried
I've recently found out that Tristan Rêveur was made up for Stay 2005 and I think that was a really good choice on behalf of the writers.
I watched it after I'd already turned 22, and it's a good thing I didn't watch it earlier, because it would've done numbers on me as somebody who has struggled with suicidal thoughts and loves the arts--it still did.
There's a danger to Romanticising suicide, and even if the more significant point was that Henry was scared to die, potentially wasn't even suicidal, the movie still had a focus on Rêveur's suicide and Henry's potential emulation.
It was wonderful to see something I could deeply relate to, and it is an important story for a lot of reasons. But if Rêveur had been real, the story of such a tragically beautiful and meaningful suicide would likely hurt so many people, drawing more to the story Henry imagined and the emulation of Rêveur's suicide.
every time an adaption makes sir kay straight up evil an angel loses their wings
like guys there's a difference between a character being kind of a dick and a loser and being a cartoonishly evil traitor. A Kay who is disloyal to Arthur and tries to kill him is just...not Kay. Like that's his annoying little brother why would he do that. Why would you write him like that.

The more I learn about the new Odyssey movie, the more frustrated I am
What do you mean he tried to keep the gods ambiguous? THEYRE THERE that's one of the main features of the story!!
Odysseus is favoured by Athena, he gets help from Hermes multiple times. Part of why the journey takes so long is because of Poseidon and Zeus hindering their progress.
You can't take the gods out of the Odyssey, they are an essential element, the story does not work the same way without them
Have not watched Bladerunner 2049, but I've read the plot and I so genuinely believed that K was gonna be the child, and even when it said that the child was actually a girl, I was like "oh, so he's trans and doesn't remember or something" and then it turned out to be Dr Stelline? Terrible twist, felt out of left field, I've decided that the kid is K and he's trans, thanks for reading
Obsessed with the idea of Palamedes and Segwarides and Safir tossing around words like Inshallah and Mashallah and Dinadan slowly picking it up through osmosis because he has a knack for languages and randomly one day without blinking goes "We'll find Tristan, Inshallah" and Palamedes just slowly looks over at Dinadan, equal parts shocked and awed, while Safir and Segwarides are both taking psychic damage
Listening to Epic again and I'm reminded that as much as I feel for Neoptolemus, I also feel so bad for Hector's family. I love some of the Achaeans but I also love some of the Trojans!
We're supposed to be rooting for the Achaeans, that's the way a lot of adaptations present the story, but the Trojans were besieged for a decade by the Achaeans! Just as Odysseus didn't want to be there, neither did Hector!!
Watched Place Beyond the Pines, and I don't know how I feel tbh. It was good, but different. Don't know if I loved it--lots of unresolvedness, a sense of loss, which was the point but it just didn't hit for me, I think.
Smth smth haunting the narrative or something I don't know-
Also, really only liked Avery at the end, like I felt a little bad for him but he kinda sucked-
to be completely honest *starts lying
Watched Drive and holy shit the bit with "Oh My Love" needs to be tattooed on my brain, it was so magical, the emotion it evoked I can't even put into words. The soundtrack was gorgeous, and the cinematography, and the whole cast was so good! I loved how relaxed and mellow it was. And I loved the way it was sometimes shot in a way where it showed two different moments in time happening simultaneously. The songs "Oh My Love" and "A Real Hero" have been instantly added to my music. It's probably my favourite Ryan Gosling movie so far! I need to read the books, I think.
Watched Fall Guy, Gray Man, and Drive! What next?
La La Land
Place Beyond the Pines
"[character] has never done anything wrong in their life ❤️" as in a hyperbolic joke expressing that the character is sweet and kind and i love them, vs "[character] has never done anything wrong in their life ❤️" as in i’m absolutely lying through my teeth while a long list of their crimes plays behind me like film credits
