The Winter Soldier by @elcoffin
back in september last year, the artist made this for me. it’s what i wanted and so much more. they did such a fantastic job! <3
Yelena Belova in Thunderbolts* trailer
Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR (2016)
I wanted to draw the winter soldier for years but never dared to, I thought I’d definitely mess it up. Late to the party as always, but I finally dared to do it 😊
This one is based on a photo that Sebastian Stan took by chance prior to the Civil War film, having no idea what’s about to come :> I thought it’s wonderfully angsty 😌💅
ES POR ESTO QUE LA REPRESENTACIÓN ES IMPORTANTE
THIS IS WHY REPRESENTATION MATTERS
[trans]
Interviewer: Your speech and your mission have always been worthy representation and respect above all. Especially about equal opportunities for the "moreno" (brown) people, for racialised people, not only from Mexico but from all of Latin America, from all over the world. And now you're here. You're K'uk'ulkaan, you're Namor, you're a Funko (toy). You're all that.
Tenoch: Ah, huevo! (kinda like "oh, god" / "oh, yeah", happily)
Interviewer: So, what do you think it'll mean for representation in Latin America and Mexico, for all of us who are getting this important message?
Tenoch: The only thing I want is that the next time boys and girls look at themselves in the mirror they feel proud of that reflection. That they see there was never anything wrong with them but rather with the eyes that judged them. If that happens, I've made it.
Interviewer: Thank you so much.
(They hug. The interviewer's been rather emotional the whole time but now they start to really cry.)
Tenoch: It hurts, dude, doesn't it? But we're going to begin healing. (He gives the interviewer a kiss on the forehead)
i dont know how to describe this but please give tenoch huerta more feather jewellery for him to wear i dont care what type as long as theyre feather cuz it suits him ssoooo well like that one photoshoot where he wears that feathery earpiece LORD HAVE MERCY he looks so good
with that, i rest my case
Talokan and K'uk'ulkan‘s most trusted warriors.
I finally watched Wakanda Forever and (predictably) loved Talokan and these precious idiots. I just know Namora and Attuma grew up rivals and ended up as the best warriors. Attuma being so much taller than Namora is so great bc of how she bosses him around and he just complies kajshdkaj I loveeeeee
(I really love that they keep their skin color in the water, it’s genius that they were true to the comics with the blue skin but only when they’re out of their world)
Tenoch, Mabel and Alex did so wonderfully!!!!!!! Pls more!!!
"I have many names. My people call me Aj K'uk'ulkan, but my enemies call me Namor."
I call him Daddy
When Tenoch Huerta hugged and kissed a Latine reporter’s head after bringing them to welling emotions when he said:
“The only thing I want is the next time little boys and girls [in Latine countries] see themselves in the mirror, that they feel proud of that reflection. That they see that there was never anything wrong with them, but rather in the eyes of those who judged them.”
When Tenoch Huerta of Nahua and Purépecha Indigenous ancestry said this in a cast interview for Wakanda Forever:
“…We have in Latin America, two main roots: which is the Indigenous roots, of course, and African roots. The food, the customs, the music, even our way of life has a strong influence from African cultures. So for me it’s important to see it [in the movies]; I mean this character [Namor] comes from Meso-American inspiration, particularly Mayan and, of course, is an interpretation of those cultures. But at the same time, we can feel close [to it] because all the process to get us “mixed” is just a way to erase our Indigenous heritage and they taught us to feel ashamed of who we are. For 500 years!”
When long-time actor–since 2006–and advocate, Tenoch Huerta published a book (paperbacks set to release December 13 but digital copies available now!!!) titled Orgullo Prieto (Brown Pride) that is a reflection on racism and colorism in Mexico. He has also gifted his voice for the audibook narration of these books: La sombra de Miztlán [The Shadow of Miztlán]; Las Venas Abiertas de América Latina [The Open Veins of Latin America]; and Los Narcos Gringos [The Gringo Drug Traffickers] (Spanish Edition).
And when Tenoch reiterated:
“It’s not common in Mexico, in Latin America that a brown-skinned guy could be the main character and have a lead role in movies. And then I jumped to the U.S. and I did it here [with Wakanda Forever] and it’s powerful and deep, and I hope the kids in their homes can feel identified. And I’d just say to them never, never in the life was nothing wrong with you, it was in the eyes of the people who was looking at you. But not [as in nothing being wrong] in you, not in your skin, not in your roots, not in your blood, not in your history. So please, babies, feel proud.”
He is also a mental health advocate and champion for the sciences. He has said all the YouTube channels he follows are science, historian or philosophy-related. If this man didn’t already have me in a choke-hold I swear to fucking god-
namor being called “a child without love” by a spanish friar who was cooperating with and supporting conquistador enslavers when namor was literally there because he loved his mom and she loved the surface world and this was her home and they were desecrating it with pure evil.. oh it made me MAD
Okoye and shuri: *surprises Ross on his trail*
Ross: 😧
Okoye and shuri: it's time to commit treason again
Ross: you know I never liked white people to begin with. Fuck the government ✊🏻
Shuri and Namor should get together to destroy Marvel's fictional U.S. government
Okay, okay, I don’t want to be the one person focusing on the white people in Black Panther Wakanda Forever but
Val’s response when Ross goes “could you imagine how destructive it would be if a place like America got its hands on Vibranium weapons of mass destruction?” and she gives the most sadistic, nonchalant laugh and goes “I literally dream about it.”
That one interaction is a stunning display of what American militaristic nationalism, capitalism, and neocolonialism looks like and how white people in places of power such as the FBI or the CIA have always been about stealing away the resources and stability of BIPOC.
Shout out to Julia Louis-Dreyfus for that delivery; it is absolutely vile and she should get props for it.
Fashionistas. By Rka_2525 (x)
Namor truly representing the POC experience by coming to the surface, telling everyone his name, and then–despite hearing how *he himself* said it–everyone mispronouncing it for the rest of the film.
Girl did you change your blog name or smth? I have no clue who you are lol
Yup, used to be @/winterbuttmunch for like 6 years? Then Namor showed up and that flew out the window 😂
