As God continues to reveal His love and nearness to us, in fear of losing our false image, some become scorners of the True Image. When we see our own sin, the enemy immediately tries to distract us with shame, to both distract us from perceiving God's closeness, and to condition our response to His closeness with a self-preserving contempt. Shame in humility produces wisdom. Shame in pride produces self defense, denial, contempt, hatred.
