Annabeth smiled once she knew that cerberus liked the ball. He could sense that he wished to be back in his own form. The one that lived in myths and legends as well as being in reality. She noticed that they were far from the camp now. "Are we close to where you have to bring me?" She was wondering now, she didn't know what she was supposed to do, where to go or anything. She was glad that she had brought her celestial bronze blade and her cap. She could sense something with Cerberus but she knew not to question it. She felt the presence of another and she looked around, it wasn't mortal at all.

Annabeth raised a brow. She was wanted. She loosened the armour and removed it from her.

"Wait one moment" She made her way back to the camp with Chiron, who was muttering under this breath about Cerberus. She returned to the Athena cabin after returning the armour. She brought her blade and her cap,few drachmas for Iris Messaging, she never left the camp without them. She saw Percy talking with Chiron and she could gather that he was not pleased that Cerberus came for her and that she was wanted,without even being told about anything. Once she was sorted, she made her way out of the cabin. She felt the stares of the other campers on her and she quickly made her way over to Chiron. "I will Iris Message if something comes up", she knew that Chiron would not be happy unless she said something like this to him. She looked over at Percy before giving him a kiss "I will be back before you know it Seaweed Brain" She looked out towards the barrier to where  Cerberus was and she moved onwards towards him. Her mind was wondering what was she wanted for, what would she be needed for. She knew she would find out as soon as Cerberus brought her to where she needed to be

I waited as patiently as I possibly could, finding interest in clicking fallen leaves about and stamp on the occasional twig. The crunch and crack was always a pleasing sound to my ears. Once Annabeth returned I eyed her suspiciously, somewhat surprised that the son of Poseidon and Satyr weren’t accompanying. Was I trusted that much?

"You’re right to come alone" 

I begun, starting to walk away from the barrier now and back towards the maze of a forest. I’d marked trees along the way, using a rock I’d long since discarded to cut in marks; Greek marks. 

"Perseus and the Satyr would only make this a lot harder.. that is all I can say on the matter though."

I added, clenching my fists and teeth at the thought. I’d sworn on the river styx that I’d bring Annabeth, and I was to not once mention location or who had demanded this deed to be done. My reward? To possibly lift the curse placed upon me, binding me to human form.

"You won’t be harmed, I can promise you that. You gave me a rubber ball once after all. I need to repay the kindness"

I finished, staring forward and trying not to be a sad sap about it all. I wanted no attachments to demigods who could be there one minute and gone the next. It would only hurt more seeing them pass through my gates one day as soulless spirits, not even sure if they had even lived once or not.

She went through what she had until she got out a ball, It was a cartoon one  with the Disney image of Hades on it. "I don't know if you still have the rubber ball,so when i saw this, i thought of you so i could give it to you the next time we might meet" She knew he never had attachments to any demi-gods, but she felt close to Cerberus and she wanted to give him this. She handed it to his non moving form. "It is alright if you don't want it, i just thought you might like it" she said looking away under the guise in looking at her surroundings. He wasn't all that bad that he was supposed to be. The last time she met Cerberus, she gave him a rubber ball while she was down in the Underworld. It made her wonder did he still have it, does he play with it when he was bored.  It kept her mind off the mysterious circumstances she is in, off with Cerberus to somewhere for someone and all she knew was that she was requested.

Annabeth was sparring with the other demigods, using her blade to bring down each of her opponents. Moving left and right, she moved swiftly through them until there was none left.

She looked up around her. Percy was still fighting Clairisse, but managed to sent over  a smirk over. She smiled back before he was brought back to the fight with the daughter of Ares. Sparring had been a way to keep her skills in shape, for whatever quest that came, for any match that came between demi-gods etc. She heard something and turned to see something small appear through the barrier. It was a pebble, moving fast towards them but landing close to her. What in Zeus? before she turned to look over where it came from

Then she heard the roar of her name, it echoed through whatever was beyond the barrier and made its way over to her and made her step back slightly. Everything and everyone stopped still and looked towards her. Her eyes had widened as she stood still,but she shook it off. She sheathed her celestial broze blade and moved onwards, She had caught the eye or Chiron and nodded. Not knowing what was on the other side of the barrier, she kept on her armour. She saw Percy moving towards her but she motioned him back towards the group. "I will be fine Seaweed Brain" giving a smile. Walking with Chiron towards the barrier while Mr.D stayed with the other half bloods, she walked on to see what was calling her name. Once near the barrier, Chiron stayed with her but out of sight of anyone from the other side of the barrier. She made her way forward to see a teenager in front of the barrier. She didn’t recognise the person at first,but Chiron had revealed discreetly who it was once he got a look. "What does Cerberus want with me?" , she crossed her arms, waiting for the reply of the person in front of her before deciding her next course of action

Honestly? This whole situation pissed me off. Head three, filled to the brim of rage and hatred, had taken over, the other two heads not even trying to calm it down. They just listened intently, and for once it was like I didn’t have three voices in my head telling my body what to do. The rage wasn’t directed at Annabeth of course, I owed her for that rubber ball down in the Underworld. I could only direct it at the one who had sent me. 

"First off, Chiron, you stink of horse, and I know you’re hiding right there"

I muttered, pointing at his exact location. I could smell everything, be it the blood of injured demigods far off, the smell of melting metal in the forges, and even distinctly tell the number of Satyr running about. At least my sense of smell remained. Without that I’d never be able to tell mortal, from demigod, from God. 

"Second, You’re wanted Annabeth Chase.. but I’ve been instructed not to tell anyone until we got there."

I forced myself to calm down, because really. Who would trust a snarling, growling guy trying to convince a girl to come with him. It wasn’t worth the hassle of trying to explain that sometimes I was nice. Only sometimes.

"Fetch the wise girl they said, it’ll be fun they said. Bullshit!"

I snarled the words, kicking a few pebbles as I walked. I wasn’t some messenger, and in this form I wasn’t too pleased with having to ‘fetch’ Annabeth. She’d thrown me a ball before, played when I’d been so bored I felt like taking a nap in one of the darkest pits in hell. Not tartarus, but the one next to it. The wailing of the dead often lulled me to sleep.

"Don’t they know I’m not exactly.. friendly?"

I added, using more force to kick whatever got in my way. I retained some abilities from my dog-like self. Strength, immortality and the voices of three heads, which always made it hard to tell which one was in charge and which one added in opinions. By the time I’d reached the pine tree the sun was beginning to set. I kicked one more pebble, watching it fly past the invisible barrier and land on the other side. I could feel it’s power, almost pulsing from left to right. The air stank of half-bloods, the scent of Gods mixed with mortals. I couldn’t stand it.

"Annabeth Chase!"

I roared out, and that was all the effort I gave it. I couldn’t enter, not without the barrier pushing me back with all its might. Cerberus wasn’t exactly welcomed, a thought that may have made me pout had I not of been irritated from the walk to get here. No cab driver thought it wise to go out so far, so the majority was on foot. 

"Why am I never welcomed.."

  Annabeth nodded, “wow,you sure are busy, but I can understand you wanting to make sure it worked perfectly, if something is there, why not make it perfect.” she knew that the other campers were not pleased with the wall being messed but the Hephaestus cabin have yet to fail to fix and improve on something and she could relate to them in terms of this. "Listen, about what happened with you, me and Jason, I want to apologise. It was hard for me because Percy wasn’t around and I took it out on you and Jason"

It was a hard time for her when percy disappeared on her so suddenly and she snapped at Jason and Leo just because Percy wasn’t there.

"I hope that you can forgive me for my actions" she said nervously.

I exclaimed, glad that there was finally someone who saw my way of thinking. 

"Now if you could only just explain that to the other fifty-something campers that want to kill me for the alterations.. that would be just peachy"

It was worth a shot really, but who would ever be happy with it. Unless of course they were placed on a quest that involved dodging metal bars, trap doors, buckets of lava been poured down the side of a cliff just to knock you off or better yet burn you alive. Maybe then they’d appreciate my work. Right now? I was better off hiding in the cabin until work was finished and the anger of so many demigods died down. Really didn’t want half the Ares cabin, all of Aphrodite’s and maybe some Apollo kids on my ass for doing my job. 

"It’s all cool, you were worried about Percy, I get it. I mean, I probably would have gone a bit insane too if.. if.."

I trailed off, eyebrows scrunching together as I tried to think. Who exactly would I freak out about if they went missing? All my blood family who loved me where dead, and the ones alive hated my guts. I’d no friends in any school apart from Wilderness School, and even then only Jason and Piper knew the ‘real’ me. They had each other, I had no one.

"Festus. I’d go insane if Festus went missing"

I finished, all happiness clearly drained from my voice, but I tried to still put on an act and pretend to be happy about it.

Annabeth nodded before replying back "Well I think that there is always something to be done here to the lava wall and other training items. We can't get familar with things. The real world is not like that. The real world is unpredicatable, can surprise you and i think our training should mirror that. So when it comes to these matters, i always support you and your cabin and will fight in your corner" She sighed in relief to Leo saying that he held no grudge or anything towards her. She felt bad aftet thinking about it once Percy was returned to them. She raised a brow and smiled "I know you would, and i hope you dont have to go through what i did with Percy. It hurts when it does" She cocked her head to the side,sensing something up with Leo's tone of voice. "You know you aint alone, I know that if something happened to you, we would freak out. I know myself and Percy would,so would Jason and Piper." She looked over towards the camp grounds where the group were training "You are one of us and if something happens to one, we react, you aint "no one" to us" She didnt like the way Leo was feeling at the moment, she could sense it off him. "You have us here, friends, family, comrades" giving a smile to him.

Annabeth raised a brow  ”Should i be worried or pleased about that?” she teased before replying

 ”Don’t mention it seaweed brain”, before handing him the parcel “Your mother gave me this before i returned to camp half blood last week during my day out to visit my father while he was in New York”, She smiled at the reaction that Percy had. Sally had made a big batch of her blue chocolate chip cookies that Percy loves so much. She also got him a book written in ancient Greek on Greek gods and Mythology. Tyson came up and placed his present on the table for Percy to see. She knew what it was, it was a pure Tyson present with hints of Poseidon in it. Tyson revealed to her before that Poseidon and him collaborated on this gift for Percy.  He had also wished her happy anniversary which she thanked him for. In all the preparing for Percy birthday, she almost forgot that it was also their anniversary as well.

"Well, cake is a good thing so, pleased? At least it wasn’t a nightmare"

I pointed out, a smile never once leaving my lips. It was impossible not to be happy, what with my brother and girlfriend celebrating my birthday with me. Nothing could be more perfect. Considering my last birthday, part of me was tempted to look about for Poseidon, as if the God would suddenly appear to wish me happy birthday. I knew it wouldn’t happen, but still. Taking a parcel I opened it slowly, the smell of cookies hitting me almost instantly. The smell was so familiar that I felt a knot form in my stomach, the call of home hitting me like a brick. It’d been awhile before I’d seen my mom, and there wasn’t a day I didn’t think about returning home, just to see her. 

"A book I can actually read.."

Taking a bite out of one of the cookies I started to flick through the pages, utterly astounded that everything stayed in place, the letters occasionally fixing themselves so I could read better. But everything my eyes scanned over I understood. There was no jumbling, all the words made sense. Placing the book down and swallowing the cookie I started to speak again.

"You know Annabeth, I kind of got you something too, since it’s our anniversary too."

I hadn’t forgotten, who could? Even if it was my birthday, the event of our anniversary seemed far more important then another year of age.

Annabeth blinked owlishly "You did?", a faint hint of a blush on her cheeks. She looked at Percy, her curiousity peaked. She saw Tyson handing percy the present from him and from Poseidon.  Tysons was a form of a memory book, it was filled with seemed to be camp memories for percy. Images of the entire camp in that book, smiling, joking, all forms in that one book.Tyson revealed to her that he had asked chiron for help on this and she helped with some of the pictures aswell of her and percy. Posedion had put in pictures that he had from when percy was younger, before he had to return to the gods.  Percy had yet to open it but she truly hoped that he loved it considering how much work tyson put into it for his brother. Annabeth took one of the blue cookies and took a bite out of it, smiling at percy at his reaction before he left to get whatever he got her for their anniversary. She was lost in her onw thoughts, thinking back over everything they had been through ever since they first met up until now. She played with the beads on her neck as she waited for percy.

Annabeth raised a brow to Leo's stammering before starting to chuckle. "It is fine Leo, no harm no foul so don't go, thanks for catching me before I fell" She watched the son of Hephaestus act nervous around her.it is true that they did have that great of a first meeting, after time though Annabeth had warmed up to him. "How are you Leo? I haven't seen you in a while." She saw Festus beside Leo and looked with interest as she would as a daughter of Athena, always wanting knowledge, before looking back up at Leo. She could tell he was nervous and she hoped that she wasn't worsening the matter.

Click. Click. Click. Maybe a motorized sound, but always clicking. I tapped the bronze metal of Festus’ head, responding without even realizing what I’d been saying. It felt so natural to reply in morse code that I never really thought much on it, occasionally rapping my fingers against random objects, having whole conversations that no one could ever understand. It been always like that though. I’d clearly tell someone that things weren’t okay, with a grin on my face, maybe while telling a joke. Everyone had suspected my tapping had just been a weird habit, or the showings of a musical genius in how I kept beat. They never really got it. Festus did though.

"Happy the dragon.."

I mumbled out, staring at the large dragon head. The body had been destroyed long ago, and having the head just working was depressing. Festus wasn’t Festus without a body, and soon.. soon I’d build him one. One the whole world would stare in awe of!

"And I shall be Leo the great! Master of the wrench!"

Shouting the words I raised my arms triumphantly, and it was only Festus’ clickings that alerted me I’d almost knocked someone over.

She honestly didn't know the cause but she left them to their own devices. She knew Percy could fend for himself so she went off on her own. Her activities were done for the day so she walked around. Being a daughter of Athena was sometimes hard, she had to deal with her fatal flaw- hubris. Also her mothers disapproval of  her relationship with Percy because of a long disagreement between Athena and Poseidon. She sighed as she walked on, waving to the other campers as she made her way around. She suddenly heard some one yell " And I shall be Leo the great! Master of the wrench!" and found herself nearly tripping over something "What the --" before managing to grab onto something.

Annabeth smiled at the sleepy headed boyfriend of hers.

"Hey seaweed brain", giving him a kiss that somewhat woke him up before she made her way in. She waved at Tyson “hey Tyson” which got her a hug and a happy hello back before making her way into the inner parts of the cabin. While Percy was still trying to wake up, she placed her finger on her lips and motioned to Tyson to keep quiet on what she was doing now. Taking out the package from Sally and her present aswell as the joint effort surprise from her and Sally. She waited until Percy came back out. She smiled “happy birthday/anniversary” revealing a blue cake of various tones and was filled with blue icing. "I hope you like it, it took a while to get it right" she said nervously. She then motioned to the parcel “your mom sent something aswell”

The kiss I hadn’t been expecting. Really. I stood there dazed for so long I was beginning to wonder why my body wasn’t responding. It took a few minutes to lazily close the door over and follow after Annabeth, re-entering the room where she and Tyson stood, clearly up to something. When the cake was revealed my eyes went wide.

"I had a dream about that cake"

My speech had definitely improved at least, sad to say that cake just brightened my day, woke me up and above all made me so hungry I wanted to just cover my face in blue icing. Weird? extremely. 

"Thanks Annabeth"

I said, giving a proper smile this time. My eyes wandered to the parcel, eyeing it curiously. 

"My mom did?"

Moving closer to the package, I put eating cake aside for the moment, the thoughts of a surprise wrapped before me becoming too interesting to ignore.
