The Edge of Seventeen.
tillhumanvxices:
âWe all get jealous, itâs just natural.â Â She couldnât blame the girl for having questioned the situation in the first place. Many of her students found it strange enough just seeing her outside the classroom. She could only imagine what it was like for Clio to all of a sudden be around her all day, every day; especially when the students had been told Blaire wouldnât return to school anytime school.
âItâs just not ideal for me to be alone right now, and your father offered to help.â She gave the easiest explanation she possibly could. Keeping Clio in the shadows was the easiest solution at this moment; even if the scar that served as a constant reminder of that night made it clear that there was a very good reason for Blaireâs public absence.
âYou are friends, I get that.â Clio nodded, accepting the explanation. She understood but couldnât help it to look at the scar while paying close attention to the barely audible voice.Â
Averting the eyes, the girl gave her an apologizing look for the starring before her features brightened. âIâm glad youâre not gone. We miss you at school.â

Blaireâs gaze shot up at the door, and she quickly offered a smile once she saw the young girl. She hardly found it in herself to smile these days, but it was worth putting on a brave face for the kids.Â
âI understand, Clio. We really should have told you sooner.â Blaire motioned for the girl to step inside. Her voice was just coming back, and was barely audible as she spoke.Â
âMaybe.â Clio smiled back when she stepped inside and bit down on her lip. She knew sheâd had been acting unfair not just earlier but the entire past couple of weeks when sheâd accused the woman to force herself into the relationship between her and her father.
âIâm sorry for being jealous.â The girl apologized, admitting the reason for her behavior. If she was honest with herself, Clio even liked not being the only woman in the house much longer.Â
A bit later that day Clio knocked on Blaireâs door and waited for her (former) teacherâs approval to step in.
âIâm sorry for overreacting, I... I didnât expect you to be here.â
Everybody lies
âWhatâs she doing here?â The girl asked more confused than still jealous about the fact that her teacher suddenly seemed to be living with them.
At school theyâd only been told that Miss Watson would not return that soon for unknown reasons a couple of weeks ago and now Clio found out that theyâd been lied to as she by accidentally walking in on the woman in the morning.

tillhumanvxices:
âOf course you can.â She motioned for the girl to enter the empty classroom. It was strange, having Clio as one of her students. Not because of her, per se; she was a joy. It was more considering who her father was, how close they had been while growing up. In a way, it was a constant reminder of just how much time had passed.
âAre you settling in okay?â
âItâs going well so far.â The teenage girl returned, forcing herself to smile despite the circumstances of her todays condition and handed the teacher a note from her father.
âIâm having a doctorâs appointment before lunch to get my regular check up. Dadâs written me an apology for the afternoon class â
âMiss Watson... May I have a word with you please?â Clio shifted uncomfortably, carefully tugging a strand of hair back behind her ear with sore fingers.
âIn private.â

âWellâŠI said it out loud. That makes it real. If itâs real itâs scary. Iâm just so overwhelmed.â He leaned his head onto her shoulder thankful for the bit of stability she provided
âBut doesnât it also make you proud?â She softly rubbed her friendâs back. âIt makes me feel proud that you told me.â Clio bit on her lip, as she smiled. âWe could go shopping together, if that makes you feel better.â

âAnd? So what... That doesnât change anything about that youâre still my friend. Let them talk.â Clio hugged him.
âYou look like youâre in pain, whatâs going on?â

Clio looked up at her new teacher, when Snow approached the girlâs desk. Was it this obvious that she wasnât having a good day with her arthritis and that the pain in her hands was making her feel sick? Why she wasnât writing notes during class. âNothing⊠itâs just the bad weather getting a hold of my joints.â
ravenhairedbandit:
âIs there anything that helps against the pain?â
She asked her, tilting her head the slightest bit. She was clearly worried about her.
âNot really. Iâve taken my weekly cortisone shot this morning plus one painkiller because of the weather.â She stated silent but honestly, slightly massaging her swollen knuckles. âDad wanted me to call in sick, but I didnât want to miss even more class this month.â
sofiaruthnolan:
âMy Mother is a Teacher here so she can teach me at home if I donât want to go to school. â She said smiling and looked at her âYour Father is August right?â She added and looked at the clock.
âYup, thatâs him.â Clio nodded, noticing Sofiaâs resemblance with the unnamed teacher. âYour motherâs Snow White, right?â
sofiaruthnolan:
âOf course its free. Iâm not sure, I wasnât here yesterday, I told my Mum I didnât wanted to go so she let me stay home.â Sofia said and looked at her.

âNiceee, maybe I should try that too sometimes.â Clio grinned cheeky. âThough I doubt Dad or Grandpa would allow it to skip even more school than I have to.â
âHey, this seat is free right? Anything interesting missed when I called in sick yesterday?â
