After a few months of working at Kaiba Corp and becoming accustomed to each other, Saya is learning how to navigate around Kaiba, and Kaiba is becoming more relaxed around her. He involved her in the Spherium project, where Yugi was soon to join them.
Then, a man named Hatoyama Miroku shows up at Kaiba Corp, introducing himself as a labor inspector sent by the government. He plans to spend a few days at the building to check on the workers. Miroku has a very dubious demeanor, speaking with a constant smile and a theatrical, scripted voice. He immediately fixates on Saya and behaves very friendly towards her. Kaiba, however, pays him little attention, and while Mokuba monitors his movements, he knows that the man means no good.
Meanwhile, Yugi finally announces his arrival to Domino. Saya is the most excited as she looks forward to meeting her favorite duelist very soon. She expresses her eagerness to duel him as well. Kaiba is not pleased, feeling jealous and organizes a tournament in "Yugi's honor," forcing Saya to join.
At the tournament, Saya, who has never dueled in a competition, becomes extremely nervous when she finally meets Yugi, and is only able to mumble a few words.
Unbeknownst to her, Miroku is another participant in the tournament and is the first to duel Saya. He wishes her luck to give a performance that Kaiba won't forget.
During their duel, the main screens in the stadium start to glitch and show security recordings from Kaiba Corp, featuring videos of Kaiba and Saya. Miroku, revealing himself as a reporter, begins a speech about Kaiba's abuse of power against his workers, especially Saya, and tries to persuade her to speak up and sue Kaiba for his mistreatment.
Saya is confused and embarrassed by seeing herself on the screens and begins to think about what Kaiba has done to her. Despite all of this, she stands by him, not understanding why she is protecting a person who doesn't need or deserve protection. This realization makes her question her actions and feel conflicted.
Saya finds it challenging to deal with people who are mean to her and usually runs away from such situations, but she can't bring herself to think less of them. Initially, the only reason she endured Kaiba's attitude was her fear of losing her job. As unhealthy as it may be, Saya managed to take all of his demands as motivation and improve herself. She recognizes her growth and is even grateful for it.
She also reflects on the closing cycles, seeing the past arguments as part of her history and forgiving Kaiba, even if she doesn't tell him. She hopes Kaiba can do the same with himself and the people he has hurt. This realization shocks Kaiba, as he realizes that he hasn't accomplished anything since eight years ago and is still behaving awfully, while someone is willing to forgive him.
Saya's deck quickly defeats Miroku in their duel while Mokuba uncovers some unpleasant background from Miroku's work. As a result, Miroku is taken away, and nobody hears about him again (I mean, he's alive, don't worry).
