Moon Phase Magic
You can do magic any time, any day, but sometimes you'd like a little bit of a lunar boost! Here's how the phases of the moon can match the intentions of your magic.
little things to put in a book of shadows to make it personal
first trip to a metaphysical shop and what you got
list of crystals or herbs you really want
first tarot spread and how it went or how you feel
first spell and how it went or how you feel
write down your shadow work
your progress in aspects you have trouble in
list of different paths (green, lunar, cosmic) and which one you want to follow
details about your birthday (birth stones, astrological positions, which element, etc)
places you take your book
ways you do magic on the go
use pages to come up with your own sigil method

Wild witchcraft
I got an advanced copy to review and I wanted to share it with you all.
Wild witchcraft by Rebecca Beyer is a wonderfully written book on herbal magic. This book goes over how to grow your magical garden and how to use it. I loved how each plant had lore written about them and had both medicinal and magical information as well as how to use it. The sections on spells and rituals was well written with classic spells and rituals that any practitioner should know.
I recommend this book for both beginners and advanced witches because it has some herbs that are not always included in these kinds of guides.
making ur own smudge sticks!
smudge sticks are very simple to make and if ur a green witch with a garden full of plants and herbs then why would u waste money on overpriced smudge sticks from metaphysical shops when u can make them urself! here are a couple i made yesterday, along with some instructions on how to do it urself:
1. choose the herbs u want to use! white sage (protection and purification) is probably the most commonly used but here are a couple of others i like to use:
- rosemary (soothing and removes negative energy)
- lavender (relaxation and happiness)
- thyme (memory booster and removes negativity)
- lemongrass (purifying and energising)
- cedar (cleansing and protection)
- cinnamon (increasing energy and healing)
- bay leaf (calming and protection)
- rose (love and meditation)
- peppermint (refreshing and soothing)
don’t be afraid to mix and match the different herbs to suit ur needs! also u can use pretty much any herb as long as u research it, these are just a couple of my faves.
2. put ur herbs in a bundle and tie a knot at the bottom using a piece of cotton string. if you have no idea of what ur going to use ur smudge stick for yet u can use a white (all purpose) string, but if u want a specific use these are some of the colours that can help u achieve ur goals:
- red (passion, strength, survival, fertility, courage)
- orange (creativity, self-expression, joy, ambition, vitality)
- yellow (success, happiness, learning, memory, concentration, imagination, charm, confidence)
- green (prosperity, abundance, money, healing, growth, luck, acceptance)
- light blue (spirituality, tranquility, peace, protection)
- blue (communication, will power, focus, forgiveness, good fortune, truth, patience, removing bad vibrations, astral projection)
- purple (wisdom, spiritual power, contact with spirits, drive away evil, change luck)
- violet (spirituality, connection to higher self, insight, clarity)
- indigo (spiritual guidance, psychic ability, divination, meditation, ambition, overcome depression)
- black (grounding, wisdom, learning, protection, reversing, uncrossing, unhexing, repelling black magick, banishing negativity, releasing, defense, scrying)
3. wrap the string up the bundle at an angle and when u reach near the top, do the same just go downwards instead.
4. tie a knot and trim the string ends if needed.
5. trim ur smudge stick (don’t worry if you forget to do this i always forget but u can always trim it once its dried) and hang it up somewhere to dry for about a week.
if any of u have suggestions or types of herbs u like to use that havent been mentioned pls let me know! xoxo
here’s how to make a simple love spell bag!
what you need:
- pink (or red’s fine too) organza bag (i think thats what they are called lol)
- a few sprigs of dried lavender (i used 3)
- a stick of cinnamon
- salt
- a small piece of rose quartz (mine’s in the bag the other rose quartz point was just for decoration)
- a piece of pink (or red) paper
- a black pen
- a taglock (something that is linked or you associate with the person- for example a photo, piece of hair, something they gave you, etc. for example i used a dead beetle i found because i associate bugs with the person- long story short they work in a zoo)
optional:
- a key (i just put one in coz i liked the symbolism of “unlocking” the truth behind their feelings and stuff)
- jasmine essential oil (it’s expensive so not really necessary lol but if you want you can use lavender oil or whatever you choose)
1. first i used a lavender and rosemary smudge stick that i made and cleansed the area i was using just because both herbs associated are with love and i wanted to set an atmosphere but this step isn’t necessary
2. this is also an unnecessary step lol but put on some quiet music to create an ambience (i find it helps to focus my energy.) i used a playlist i made specifically for my main deity, aphrodite, because she is the goddess of love and idk it felt right but you can put on any music you associate with love or that relaxes you
3. put everything except the paper, pen, taglock, and essential oil in the organza bag. it doesnt matter what order you put things in just do what feels right to you
4. on the paper write your intention using the pen. i wouldn’t write something like “___ will fall in love with me” because i don’t believe in taking someone’s free will. i wrote something on the lines of “if ___ has any romantic feelings for me, they will reveal them to me soon” but you can word it however you want. if you don’t have a specific person the spell’s aimed at you can write something like “i attract love and romance” or anything you want
5. now put your taglock in if your aiming it at a specific person, if not skip this step
6. shut the bag and tie a knot
7. put a few drops of essential oil onto the bag (it doesn’t matter how many, just do what feels right, but i’d suggests doing 3, 7 or 9 drops)
8. now put your spell bag somewhere safe (i like putting it somewhere i can see it so when i see it i get reminded of my intention which can strengthen it because i think about it more) and don’t open it until its had it’s desired effect!
hope this was useful to someone! xoxo
Subtle Witchcraft Tips
(coming from a closeted witch of 3-4 years)
stitch sigils or runes into your clothing - use a thread that’s the same colour of the fabric for extra subtlety
use bandanas to veil
display certain items as if they’re just decorative - all of my crystals are on a shelf and when my family asks i just tell them i like crystals! they’ve now assumed i’m a geology nerd lol
look into tea magick! tea is such a powerful tool for witchcraft and simply stirring your tea with intention can be a form of magick
if you wear makeup, paint sigils on your face with your foundation or concealer before blending
similarly if you wear nail polish, paint sigils on your nails
use perfumes or body products with certain scents that correlate to certain meanings e.g my shower gel and body oil are both lavender scented
create a shoebox altar - this makes it small and easy to hide
household herbs and spices can easily be used in spells!!
remember that a pendulum doesn’t have to be a fancy crystal on a chain, any small weight on a string can work just as well
any basic candle can be used in spells
research the correspondences of wearing rings on certain fingers
i love doing tea magick!! it’s so easy to incorporate into everyday life without blatantly being a form of magick
house plants can be great in magick
i know i briefly mentioned sigils before but don’t underestimate how powerful sigils can be!!
create small spell jars that you could easily hide
and remember: your craft is uniquely your own. don’t let anyone tell you what is and isn’t required to be a valid witch. i’ve had to be subtle about my practice for years and it’s taken a while for me to realise that i’m just as much of a witch as someone who openly practices.
blessed be <3
