Issue 8 - Something Missing This one's been cooking for a while and I promised myself I wouldn't post much publicly until I got it done. And bam! It's here now! First test of me doing some more paneling work, please forgive any of the weirdness on it. I had to play around a lot with the camera angles on this one because I didn't want to put the train on the right on much focus since I can't actually move it. That said, I feel like now it feels like it actually arrives and waits there. I'd like to imagine Nueva Esperanza's trains are an automated system and it's late enough in the area there was no one to worry about. If you've ever been to more outskirts part of places that run trains, you know the feeling of empty 10 PM trains. Spooky but also weirdly nice to have some alone time sometimes.
Leo's implied to be watching through a camera system with his phone, though I perhaps could have made that a little clearer. Still, it doesn't feel like it's too immersion breaking since it can be accounted for in just, tech being what it is. I think it's time to post Leo's profile soon. I'm also going to update the old profiles for José and May since I feel I have a far better grasp now on powers, limitations and story in general. I'll leave the old ones up though for the sake of archiving.
mostly messing around with a new brush. armor is fun to stylize!
a doodle. iunno of what, just kinda let my pen decide.
School days - Broken Diamond Extras
I tried to give José a short hair look, attempting to make him look older. In the process, my friend pointed out he only ended up looking younger. My poor boy is cursed with Baby Face, clearly.
It did, however, give me the idea to show what they were like when younger. I imagine at this point these two are around 15-17. José is a delinquent through and through here and a pretty bad influence, already being groomed towards working for The Club without realizing it by his current guardian (We'll touch up on that some other time worry not)
Alexandre meanwhile is just trying to survive the academy after being placed there by a less than stellar mother, worried more about appearances than anything else. Unfortunately for her, he and José got close pretty quick and has given her no small amount of headaches.
Bad family tends to make you find and make your own. At this point the two have likely known each other since they were little kids.
Alex likely won't have a big focus on the comic for a bit, but he's very important to figuring out what life was like before and post club for José, so we'll see plenty more of him in due time.
They are muppets to me
I think sharing stuff like this with the boomers is the only way to get them to think critically about what they're seeing online

Broken Diamond - Dangerous Assumptions
Issue 5
'course they wouldn't have let him go that easy after what happened. Turns out that trio was very much going rogue from their actual orders. Henchmen being way too cocky and messing everything up? Say it ain't so! Not much to say on this one on a technical level, other than I had to fill the city area with a lot of NPCs. The Modpack that provides Persona 5 NPCs from the transition scenes made by Mechamobius helped a ton.
Some credit for models here while I figure out how to actually make a pinned post that doesnt' look like crud (And let's be honest, long overdue) which will also have a few fun facts
So, José's model is based off of a character that was uploaded by someone named Wolfie222 called Wolf Jake. It's a pretty good model and in general works very well as a taking off point for most type of anthro male characters. Wolfie also has a female character that's uploaded named Daisy Whitetail, though I've never used that one for female anthro characters. It's still quality and you should check it out
The Wolf Jake base is actually what I use also for Laxley there. I've gotten solid enough at the program that I can get ***wildly*** different results from the same starting point. You can notice some similarities particularly in the Muzzle, but you gotta be really looking for them.
The Horsegal you see is a heavily modified version of a model made by Epicdragon named Rose. I used it primarily because he/she/they have definitely attained one of the best horse head models that I've found publicly available so far, but the body needed a lot of adaptation for the use I wanted to go for. I will also be honest,
Alex, believe it or not, is modified from a Scar character made by author egor. Yes, the Scar from the Lion King. I wanted to utilize a different model that had a better feline face, and after multiple failed attempts at getting the bridge of the nose as stubby as necessary I went around looking for models that were publicly available to learn from. Alex now looks *nothing* like the original model but I was able to learn a lot about how to better manipulate the sliders for the head models through the experiment. Also had to replace the ears, eyes, etc.
As for Mayuka and Leo... Entirely original! I used the base Chikarin model for her and the base 3rd head model for Leo. By the time I got to making these two I found myself very able to just make things from base on the fly. It's only Anthro Heads that still give me trouble, and I am forever thankfull that Koikatsu has a community that is constantly sharing their creations to learn and make from.
I'll post more info on any models that come up. For now, gonna probably do some more silly stuff before continuing with story posts
i'm also going to try and find a better tag than 'broken diamond' as it seems it's shared by multiple fandoms. Whoops.
Broken Diamond - The Fool's Gamble
Second 'issue' as it were is done! Or as done as my amateur ass can make it. I'm pretty happy with how this came out in a few ways, particularly the effects on the fists and the speed lines for the movement of the fists/weapons. Big thank you to my friend @harleyshellhole for helping me figure out the effects and giving me some great tips I'll be using moving forward.
I'll be posting these in this format now, I think. One continous line seems to work best to display it, and Tumblr should auto-shorten the thing for anyone who isn't interested in the whole thing
I wanted to show through the effects on his fists as well as how it appears when José is hit with the bat that his ability both helps attack AND defend. Alas, even spooky supernatural abilities can only help so much when you're being attacked by multiple trained thugs, and they knew the numbers game was in their favour
'course, it can't quite be his end if it's just issue 2... but how he comes out alive after that ending you'll have to wait. At least this time it won't be a fight scene so I might make it faster!

Broken Diamond - Hope and Rage
So here we go. The li'l project I was talking about on my earlier posts. The TL;DR is: a comic inspired by Beat'Em Ups like Final Fight, Streets of Rage, etc. with some other influences thrown in for good measure.
It's going to be some mindless fun that I hope will also help me get better at art. I'm starting it with what I know how to use right now, but I imagine as things progress I may switch medium. I'm already looking into Blender tutorials and what not. We'll see how it goes!
