It was a quiet evening as Wendy waited for the bus to go back to her tiny apartment. The girl had been alone for a few weeks now and she was seriously thinking about getting a cat… or seven. Something needed to change, she was too lonely in the new town she lived in. Sighing softly she looked around, what was there to even do in this town? Maybe she could go to a mall or something? It was pretty late at that point, the petite vampire wasn’t sure if anything would be open by the time she got there. 

it had been a very long day at work and the first thing the doctor decided to do after getting home was taking the dogs out for a walk. it always helped her relax to spend time wih her pups but sometimes handling the two of them could get hard, as it was right now. trying not to let them get too friendly with the girl waiting at the bus stop, she gave her an apologetic smile. “sorry about that...” she then squatted down to pull them back. “lucky, krypto no! i told you two already, you can’t try to climb on strangers.”

kai lifted his brows and blinked repeatedly for a moment. he was left slightly dumbfounded by her threat and couldn’t guard his words inside, “— i dare you to try.” he mirrored her expression, raising a brow at her. “like i do what you tell me to,” he shot back while munching on a piece of his bagel. “i don’t play fair, you should’ve know.” lifting the clipboard for protection before anything was thrown, peeking over it to look at nora. “what? no, it’s not. being a kid only means you’re more… fun, while you’re just old and boring.” he set the clipboard down on the table, giving her a glare, almost as if it offended him. “what happened to what’s yours is mine and what’s mine… is mine?” he questioned as he brought the last piece of his bagel to his lips. the paper ball hit his cheek, and kai remained with his mouth agape. “now, this is violence.” he stood up, setting down his bagel and crunching a few pieces of paper. ambling around the desk and approaching nora, he threw piece of paper after piece of paper until he reached her chair. pitching forward, his hands curled around the chair’s arms, anchoring her in place without a possible escape. “— sue me.” a smirk graced his lips as he waited for her next move, expecting her threats to become an actual danger.

now she wasn’t expecting that, honestly. there was no real threat behind her words in actuality but since when nora had ever stepped back and accepted defeat? so to have herself some more time to think, she tilted her head to the side and raised a brow. “do you really mean that? because that’s kind of brave.” anyone who knew nora also knew that she was of no threat at all but it wouldn’t hurt to act like it. “oh what’s that now, power play?” she chuckled before sighing. “yeah, chivalry is long dead, i should’ve known already.” grinning at his glare, she then pursed her lips and shrugged, index fingertip patting on her lips as she looked up as if in thought. “i don’t know, it was actually a thing before you started to claim they’re all yours, i think.” watching him stand up in surprise, nora’s lips parted as she slightly sank lower on the chair. “wha-- ouch!” holding her arms up to protect her face, she tried to tell him to stop and that it was annoying but her laughter suggested otherwise until she was anchored in place. thinking for a moment as she looked up at him, she decided to do the only possible thing to let herself free, as childish as it probably was. “i really, seriously will sue you if we get fired for this.” launching towards him as she placed her hands on his sides, she hoped he was either very ticklish and would let go or she was strong enough to tackle him down. it was ridiculous how badly she wanted to win.

Akio blinked at her, rather surprised as she took the bouquet. “Y- y- y- y- you can pretend you just g- g- g- g- g- got them at the store?” Akio had asked. It seemed like a simple solution to the problem even though it was lying and it was something that Akio didn’t do often. “I don’t want a- a- a- a- an angry man after me for g- g- g- g- giving his fiance some flowers.” He said rather nervously as he awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck.

“well, i don’t like lying to him, kind of makes me feel uncomfortable.” she gave him a small smile after looking down at the flowers. “oh no -- don’t worry, he’s not like that. i mean, your situation is different after all, he’d get it.” she reassured him with a smile, smelling the flowers. “you have a great taste in flowers though. well, if you picked them yourself, i mean.”

“S- s- s- o turns out the person that I was originally supposed to be on a date with never showed up” Akio said, his face stone cold as his gaze met the others. “So please… Just take th- th- these fl- flo- flowers so I don’t look like an idiot that has been standing here for hours.” He said looking rather quite nervous and defeated as he handed the flowers over to the other. “Besides, y- y- y- you look like you’d take care of them better than I would.”

turning to look at the man, she listened to the story with a gentle expression, feeling a bit bad for him but smiled nonetheless, nodding slowly. “well... that’ll be a slightly awkward story to tell my fiance on how i received these flowers,” she said with a chuckle before reaching to take the bouquet. “-- but they look so beautiful and i just can’t leave you here like that so, i’ll take them.”

╰☆⊰;     “I really think you have the wrong apartment here….” Kaylee had been working until the sun was almost ready to rise again, and, just when she had managed to lay down, someone had been knocking on the door. Once. Twice. Three times. The redhead had tried to ignore it, but it seemed impossible to do so. “So, uhm… what exactly do you want now?”

“no -- i don’t, it’s really in your balcony.” she said with an apologetic smile, trying to keep her two dogs sit still and keep quiet as she talked to the redhead. “okay, let me explain. so i had this flying toy thing for lucky and krypto, which you pull at its string and it flies and the dogs catch. i think i might have pulled it too hard since it flew too high and landed in there. so yeah, that’s the story.”

“you can’t make me,” kai was quick to reply, poking his tongue out. “then i guess you need to study more, you clearly don’t know what a boy in growth looks like.” a smile stretched his cracked lips, revealing the edges of his teeth as a look of triumph shone in his eyes when the paper ball hit her shoulder. “oh, yeah?” he returned, a brow quirking up as he calmly watched her scrunch another piece paper. swiftly, he used one of his patient charts as a shield, protecting himself from the paper throwing. “oh, right. pardon me. i didn’t want to disturb you, old lady. i’ll leave the geriatric ward right away,” he retorted, reaching to take one last bagel from the bag, stopping inches from it as he noticed her feet up on his desk. “well, sure, but i won’t share my bagels with someone who wishes i was fat.” he swatted the white shoes away. “take your feet off my table and sit straight. we’re in a hospital, for god’s sake! — what were you? raised by wolves?”

“i wouldn’t be so sure.” nora replied, raising a brow at him. “study more?? no thanks.” the girl held her hands up before adding. “oh and don’t you dare question my knowledge.” giving him a fake threatening look, she then threw her hands up when he could shield himself from the ball of paper. “come on, it’s not fair!” with an another piece of paper being scrunched into a ball in her hand already, she made a face at him. “being called an old lady is far better than being called a kid, step up your game, loser.” taking a bite from the bagel in her hand, she then rolled her eyes but couldn’t help the grin anyway, showing she was more entertained than annoyed. “for the last time, they’re my bagels which, as the kind soul i am, decided to share with you. though i can’t say i’m not questioning my decisions right now.” throwing the paper at him now, she made an offended look when he swatted her feet. “ouch! this is violence. aaand nope, wrong. they were apes. you know, tarzan style.”

in an attempt to vex nora, kai shuddered, as if the thought was too horrifying to imagine. “— that would be a terrible nightmare,” he replied, laughing later. “i’m a big boy in growth, okay? i need to eat. — and you keep eating my bagels for some reason.” he pouted, reaching out to take one more bagel. “call me jon snow and you just bought yourself a war,” he retorted, tossing the piece of paper at her face. “dummy, dummy, dummy,” he bugged, like a petulant child. shoving the bagel inside his mouth, he scrunched up another piece of paper, ready to launch it at her. “you can’t have everything, nora.”

“oh shut up.” nora rolled her eyes at him before raising her brows. “you’re a big boy in growth? my years of study would suggest otherwise.” she watched him take one more with her arms crossed, failing to dodge the piece of paper coming her way. “ -- oh you didn’t. bring it on.” with her eyes squinted slightly, she then scrunched a piece of paper herself, ready to throw at him. “i believe you’re in the wrong ward, children’s one is on the other side of the building.” throwing the paper at him, she put her feet up on his desk, leaning back and getting comfy just to annoy him before shrugging. “a girl can wish.”

“If it’s lost, we’ll find it.” Valentin stated, his tone uncharacteristically sympathetic - somewhere, buried deep, he had a soft spot for lost and broken things. “Now, what - or who - are you trying to find, exactly?”

“thank you for helping but i’m not so hopeful...” she sighed, looking around in the patio. “it’s my dog’s collar. my fiance took the dogs out for a walk but he’s not very good with dogs so it was a mess when they returned, but he said he’s sure it must have fallen somewhere around the house and not before that.”

kai grimaced, pulling his tongue out like a naughty child. “i hope you get fat,” he retorted in the same tone, failing to dodge from the paper towel coming his way, but managing to fit the other two bagels he took from the bag in his mouth. “— hey now, don’t you start a war,” he warned as he tried to remain serious with his mouth full, giving her a stern look as his fingers scrunched up a piece of paper, ready to throw at her. “don’t threat your friend, nora. mr. dummy will never want to swap spit with you again,” he joked. “how would you kill me with love?” he chuckled, grabby fingers took a hold of the bag. “— hey, i thought you wanted me to get fat. quit eating my bagels.”

“only in your dreams, loser.” she replied, making a face at him as she watched him stuff the other two into his mouth. “calm down cowboy, they are not going to run away from you if you slow down a bit.” leaning back in the chair, she tilted her head to the side. “oh i’ll go all khaleesi on you daenerys on you if you keep that up.” she said, pointing at the piece of paper in his hand. rolling her eyes she sighed as if she was tired of it, but in fact she liked joking back and forth. “i swear to god if you say dummy one more time...” she then paused at his question, pursing her lips as she thought on that one. “i don’t know that’s just how the saying goes.” she shrugged. swatting at his hand, she took one more bagel. “i do want that but i also want to enjoy my bagels.”

“i’m not here to make friends, am i?” hunter shot back, rolling his eyes at nora’s friendly tone, but an unconscious smile slightly inching across his lips. “i’m sorry, long day with fewer clients.” he sighed as he prepared her drink, placing it on the counter. “— how was your day? better than mine, i hope?”

“i mean it wouldn’t hurt to make a friend or two, you know what they say -- a friend a day keeps the doctor away.” she altered the saying with a grin before pointing her finger at him. “oh wait, you know what, actually don’t. don’t keep the doctor away.” she chuckled, taking a sip from her drink. “i see, it’s okay - i get it. same long day but too many clients on my part. though it wasn’t that bad. a few weird events saved the day.”

kai’s fingers dropped the pen and found their way into nora’s bag of bagels instead, taking three bagels out and shoving one into his mouth right away. “well, sure. that is one term for it. but, i prefer calling it tonsil hockey, tongue wrestling or even face sucking,” he responded with a full mouth. pushing her chair with his foot under the table, he watched her roll away slightly. “— because you love me, obviously. you don’t question love.”

watching him take three, she grinned and shook her head. “i hope you get fat.” gasping again when he spoke, she threw a rolled ball of paper towel at him which was laying on his desk. “say one more thing and i’ll say screw the hippocratic oath and use my medical knowledge for something else.” giving him a failed threatening look once her chair was pushed away she then rolled back to her spot without much effort. “... fair enough. but love can kill, keep that in mind.” she said, leaning back in her chair as she stuffed a bagel into her mouth.

“If I could go more than four minutes without hearing someone screaming outside of my window, I would be so pleased.”

“people are screaming outside of your window?” nora asked, confused. “what is it about?”

kai’s gaze remained on the sea of papers in front of him, but the smile that tugged at the corners of his lips was a clear display of his amusement. “right, like that one time i caught you making out with a dummy. — oh, sorry, you call it CPR, right? it wasn’t CPR from my point of view,” he joked, finally meeting nora’s gaze. “oh, no, no. stay. your bagels are very much needed here. i mean, you. you are very much needed here.”

she gasped, probably a little bit too dramatically. “that just did not happen!” placing the bag of bagels on the desk, she crossed her arms before sitting on a chair in front of it. “that’s called practicing. i’m not surprised you’ve never heard of it.” she huffed playfully before grinning. “yeah, yeah -- i’m sure i am.” she chuckled before opening the bag. “sometimes i question why i’m being nice to you.”

logan: it has to be big enough and strong enough to hold someone less than 6ft tall

nora: of course i do i can lend you one of krypto's

nora: ...okay now i'm scared

“If you can put a BAND-AID on it, you don’t need to be here,” Kai commented flatly, attention on the paper work in front of him as he tapped his pen against the edge of his jaw thoughtfully.

“first of all, it’s rude, i can do better than that.” the doctor said, hands on her hips as she pulled a serious face, which was gone within the next second. “and if you think i don’t need to be here, then i’ll be gone, with the bagels i brought for lunch.” she said with a grin on her face.

“ — hey, you,” Hunter called for the other, tapping his fingers on the bar counter in an attempt to catch their attention. “Order something or get out of my bar.”

“hunter! friendly as ever, i see.” nora greeted in a friendly tone even though that side of her probably annoyed the monroes except for jax. “okay, well, i’ll have a lime virgin margarita then.”
