LET’S TALK ABOUT MY FAVE PAINTING PROGRAM NEXT TO SAI.
It’s called Mischief.Â
What is it?
It’s a painting app with INFINITE CANVAS. You can zoom in or out as much as you want without losing image quality. You also have a ctrl+z history of…infinity. I’ve painted an entire painting before and can undo all the way to the point I opened the canvas.
How does it work?
It’s a vector program. Instead of indexing pixels, it keeps track of points and lines on canvas, therefore you can export the image as small or as big as you want without losing line crispness. Because of that, you can keep zooming in without the details blurring since it is not a bitmap program.
User Interface
Do you see the screenshot up there? That’s literally all there is to it. You have layers (with a background layer where you can choose from different textures), brush settings, tools, and color wheel. It’s VERY clean.
If you are afraid of losing your place, there’s a pin panel that pins locations of your art on the canvas.
PROS and CONS
Cons:
No layer type (multiply, screen, etc) This will have to be post-processed in another program
No blending tool. If you’re used to painting using blending tools instead of layering colors, you’ll find it hard to paint in here. But no worries, there is a tool that is similar to an airbrush, so you can use that.
Lasso tool is only square. Transform is only limited to basics like resizing and not stretching one corner.
Pros:
Infinite canvas
Clean user interface
CLEAN LINES
Pretty cheap compared to other art programs, also has free trial and a free version.
Exports as PNG, JPEG, and PSD in any size you want
The painting window can be made transparent so you can draw over whatever is on the window below it. Useful if you want to lineart a sketch from another program and blow up the image to 500%. Or just use to see your references.
thanks for coming to my TED talk that’s all thanks.
