you’re very loved. I want you to know that
Life has continued on and I have left tumblr behind a little bit. Every once in a while a take a stroll down memory lane, and all the things I used to share. I’m still the same girl with a long list of chronic illnesses I battle everyday, but I’ve grown. I still blog: just not on tumblr anymore. So I thought for those of you who once followed here and cared, or for those of you who stumble upon this and are fighting your own battles, I’ll share my current blog. I post similar posts just as a grown woman rather than a struggling teen.

Thanks for sticking by me. I hope you’re all doing well 💕

All I really want to do in the world is make people smile! 🌻
my illnesses have destroyed the person I used to be. And they’ve made me into a stronger and braver and ultimately very different person. I can appreciate that.
But I will never get back the person I was.
sometimes it annoys me that the concept of chronic illness is widely misunderstood.
“ugh. you’re ALWAYS sick.”
“it’s just annoying because we can’t go anywhere sometimes without you wanting to leave because you're ‘sick’ again.”
“she must be faking it because no one can be sick like that all the time.”
Actual quotes from ex-friends or family members who seem to not be able to grasp the term “CHRONIC ILLNESS.”
I’ve spent the better part of the weekend holed up in my room because i’ve felt ill from the symptoms of said chronic illness. Even when we’re supposed to be in remission or we’ve been flaring for 10 months, the point of having a chronic illness is that it’s chronic. repeating. active. it will always be a part of our bodies and lives. why is that so fucking hard to grasp?
When you're too "young" to be this sick
I will never understand why people feel the need to say this, directly after you've informed them of a medical problem you've had for years
How do you handle nursing school and JA? I was diagnosed at 14 and I'll be starting my 3rd year of nursing school this fall, but I always feel like I'm playing catch-up with my classmates and doubting that I can successfully become a nurse. Thanks!
Firstly I commend you for taking on the world of nursing with JA, it is an incredible achievement, and the fact that you have a chronic illness puts you in a position to have a level of empathy that many nurses cannot comprehend. You will be an incredible nurse. However, as I’m sure you know it requires a great deal of hard work to juggle study, work, social lives, and more importantly REST time. Ultimately it requires you to know what your limits are! Don’t be afraid to speak up if you need help, or need to delegate a nursing task to someone else. As I have always been taught; you have to look after YOURSELF before you can look after someone else. Nursing school can be a hard battle, but again it comes down to balance, and knowing your limits. If you need a break, take it. If you need to stand up and stretch, do it. NEVER do something that is going to set you back further. Take your breaks, regular and often, stretch and stand when you need to. People will understand. After all you are in classes with people studying nursing right? With assignments break them up into smaller sections, conquer smaller tasks at a time, just be well prepared, and organise your time well, it may take a little longer, but you will get it done. Ultimately the hardest part is the feeling that you're not good enough, or how will you even be a nurse, but you can overcome that! Just answer to yourself, why did I start in the first place? We may not be as physically well as others, but use it to your advantage. There are plenty of different types of nursing, choose one that you can do, or use the fact that you UNDERSTAND what it is like to live with illness to help others etc. Just keep pushing on, in the end you will get there. Don’t doubt yourself, you will be surprised at what you can do! AND never give up, it is truly a special feeling when you can help someone like you, or inspire someone else. It may seem like an uphill battle all the time, but there are moments that are truly worth it. JUST KEEP GOING STRONG AND BELIEVE IN YOURSELF! You started it all for a reason, and that reason is a very powerful thing, use it as your motivation. Think. Do. Be. POSTIVE ~ Brittany ~
