Delicious vanilla latte with cashew milk and cranberry crumb cake at new vegan cafe Dark Hall Coffee. Very hipster-ish, arty place centrally located. But we need one in Chandler! (at Dark Hall Coffee)
Dine band Sihasin performing Take a Stand last night at the Heard Museum, commemorating 150 years of resilience, since the 1868 treaty of Bosque Redondo. (at Heard Museum)
"America is Alie and Well" by Nicholas Galinin, 2012, part of the #DearListener exhibit. The bear's claws are made of huge assault rifle bullets. #NativeArt #NativeArtist #HeardMuseum (at Heard Museum)
Early to the Heard for First Friday. This painting, on the outside wall, is "War Pony" by Cheyenne Randall. (at Heard Museum)
Finally, all of my books have arrived from #RT18! #ilovetoread (at Chandler, Arizona)
Found this Little Free Library down the street from my Grandma's old house in Mesa :-) #littlefreelibrary #library (at Mesa, Arizona)
Back for cat yoga, where someone has stolen my blanket! #catyoga #catcafe (at La Gattara Cat Lounge & Boutique)
Delayed flight :( But am completely immersed in Jane Doe by Victoria Helen Stone. #amreading #ilovetoread #rt18 #bookstagram (at Reno-Tahoe International Airport)
With Meg Tilly at #RT18 - so fun meeting her; she's the sweetest person! Can't wait to read my ARC of her forthcoming novel, Solace Island :-) (at RT Booklovers Convention)
Jill Shalvis book and coloring book cover with pencil crayons :) This is her foray into women's fiction - but with strong romance elements! And a dog :) #RT18 #authorsofinstagram #bookstagram #dogbooks #bookswithdogs #romancenovels (at RT Booklovers Convention)
It's a cat bookstore, instead of the now ubiquitous cat cafe! LoveLoveLove!!! They have rescue cats up for adoption, and books! I so want to start one of my own :-) #CupboardMakerBooks #RT18 #catsofinstagram #bookstagram #bookstoresofinstagram #bookstorecats #rescuecats (at RT Booklovers Convention)
After connecting with this author - Maria Vale - on Twitter over our mutual fascination with wolves and then hearing her Sourcebooks editor speak about her debut novel, I can't wait to read it! #RT18 #bookstagram #authorsofinstagram #romancenovels (at Peppermill Resort Spa Casino)
These videos all over the hotel of various parts of the world are nothing short of fascinating. People are stopping by and posing for pictures in front of them like mad. So much more humane and fun than caged live animals some resort hotels have. You can view gorgeous footage of multiple exotic places all at once. #RT18 #tourism #animals #resorthotels (at Peppermill Resort Spa Casino)
Books I bought at Sundance Books yesterday. I always go to the local section of every indie bookstore first so I can get books I likely won't find elsewhere. That's the best thing about local indie stores, right! So, I found a book about ghosts of Tahoe, and a collection of essays by a popular local writer, Erin Meehan Breen. I found others as well but I know I'm going back with a bag full of books from the conference so I had to limit myself :) #RT18 #indiebookstore #bookstagram (at Sundance Books and Music)
Yesterday we toured the Mustang Ranch, the oldest licensed brothel in the US. Prostitution is of course legal in Nevada. It was a really nice, clean place with lovely art work on the walls, and our tour guides - women who worked there - were very infomative, very smart women. The men have to undergo a kind of rigorous-sounding exam before using their services! And there are doctors on site for the women too. We couldn't take pictures but I brought back a little souvenir! #RT18 (at Mustang Ranch Brothel)
Throughout the hotel they have these big video screens showing footage from around the world. Not just touristy places either. #RT18 (at Peppermill Resort Spa Casino)
