It went without saying that Zelda was much more excited about the upcoming full moon. The big sign she’d put up in the shop window said enough about it. The witch had decided to decorate the store with both fake and real flowers. Surely Ara understood that she couldn’t have so many dying plants in her shop at one time and she could only work with so much. “Full moons are a good time for cleansing. Yourself, your crystals, etc.” She said to no one in particular as she stood on a stepstool in the corner to straighten some of her displays. “Oh! You can also banish some negative energy too. Sage would be wonderful for that as well.” Zelda turned and glanced over her shoulder with a bright smile. “Sorry. Sometimes I zone out. What were you saying?”

Emme sneezed into their sleeve again and again, helplessly trying to wave Parker down while also hiding their face, “Yeah, come on down!” The sneezing finally slowed, though Emme kept tissues by just incase, “Jesus, I’m still using my damn customer service voice,” The hostess had to laugh at themself for looking so silly, while still trying to seem peppy and pleasant, “I promise I’m not sick, it’s just all the pollen in the air!”

Maybe it was just her, but Zelda couldn’t hide her excitement around celebrating some older and more obscure holidays with new people. The witch had spent about an hour wandering through the gardens and making notes in her phone for any flowers she didn’t already know about to ask Ara or Willow about. As she walked back towards the picnic area, she raised her sunglasses to the top of her head as she waved at a small group of people. "Happy Floralia!” Was that even the right greeting? “Oh dear are you allergic? How sad.” Zelda cooed as she lowered herself to sit without asking. “If you sniff some peppermint oil it might clear you right back up but I’m not sure if you want to do that before eating!”

minni shrugged. she never believed much in astrology or psychics or anything of the sort, nor did such things interest her at all, so zelda really just confirmed her thoughts: most of it was a lie. “well, makes sense. sometimes people just need to hear something and if they go to you guys to get that, then… i don’t see an issue with humoring them.” she only hummed in reply to the comment about mack, because it wasn’t really her place to comment on their profession. she actually stayed silent for a while, thinking over the possibility of bringing fantasma over. the dog was big, but not obnoxiously wild or loud, but there was still a risk of her wagging tail knocking over some important artefacts or crystals. “if you put away all your valuable items, maybe. she’s calm, but she can get very excited sometimes.” the spirit box continued crackling, and she couldn’t get a coherent sentence out of it just yet, but she had to review the footage at home, probably. “we can ask something! do you want to ask for their name?”

Zelda knew it could sound pretty bad from an outside perspective. She probably shouldn’t feel the need to explain herself but she did. “I mean if someone comes in asking if they’re going to marry someone and you see that the other is cheating on them, it’s a lot nicer to tell them there’s some things they need to work on than the hard truth. You know what I mean?” Zelda’s eyes scanned over the shelves in her shop as she listened to the other woman speak. A dog could easily break things, that was for sure. “Oh I don’t think that would be a problem! I can always put some of the stuff behind the counter if I would need to.” Zelda nodded her head as she leaned in a little closer to listen to the spirit box. A nervous laugh left her lips as she raised her eyebrows. “Hello there...or here. What’s your name? I’m Zelda.” Did she need to introduce herself to a ghost? Oh well.

willow smiled at zelda as she spoke so kindly of her. it was sweet and refreshing. for a moment she forgot why she was even scared to go next door. part of her was thinking it would be fun to go next door and just hang out. then she began to think about possibly bringing a spirit home with her on accident and snapped out of it. “i’m sure you were great from the jump.” willow said sweetly, “we can learn from one another. i think that we both got lucky here. we both share different knowledge on similar topics.” well– partially true willow just knew all about the different spices and plants zelda used not to much the crystals and such.

Zelda really hoped that one day, Willow would feel as comfortable coming over to the shop as Ara did. It would definitely be nice to have more friends as regulars. “Oh, I certainly tried my best! It was really hard at first to get used to dealing with everyone else’s energies in and out of the store constantly, you know?” Zelda smiled softly as she nodded her head. “Absolutely! The world works in mysterious ways, you know! Everyone is where they’re supposed to be almost all of the time.” Zelda thought about inviting her over sooner rather than later to talk about crystals and maybe give her a gift, but sometimes that came on too strong.

“yeah for sure. i could only imagine what people thought if they met me when i first started.” she remembered, she was very clumsy all this knowledge on plants but not particularly tasteful with making the arrangements. she had the spunk and drive. after a few good lessons with ara she was good to go. “uh, sure.” willow accepted. maybe the shop next door wasn’t so scary and the ghosts can’t be so bad, right? “i will try my absolute best.”

“I’m sure people still liked you when you first started! I always thought you were simply meant to be here,” Zelda flashed her a bright smile. “We all need to learn how to do our jobs. No one’s perfect when they first start out. I’m sure I was a mess when I first started my shop!” That was most likely true since she had been a real fish out of water. “I’m sure your best is absolutely fantastic! We can learn from each other!”

“oh no. you’re not like most. but that’s a good thing. normal is boring. it’s better to be a little different.. give the people something fun to talk about.” she complemented. “that’s very kind. i’m glad you didn’t though because i would have felt bad for not bringing you a gift as well.” she replied, honesty is the best policy. “alone time. relaxation. never heard of them.” stella laughed, “i’m his political advisor so my job is to make him look good. and unfortunately with the type of man my father is means the job is never finished.”

“I’m glad you think so because I’m definitely a little different,” Zelda let out a laugh. Whether it was something fun to be talked about depending on the person but she was cool with it as long as they weren’t making fun of her. “Oh I wouldn’t have minded! Sometimes I don’t like gifts very much. It’s always very nice, but it does suck to have to accept something you don’t necessarily want,” she admitted to Stella. Sometimes Zelda was just too nice to say no to things. “Oh that’s awful! It’s a good thing that we’ll have some time for relaxation today at least,” she flashed her date a bright smile. A political advisor was a job that she would never want but someone had to do it. “But that must mean you’re about 3 times the person that he is in general then!” She stepped up to the counter as the line moved up again. “2 please.”

if cass ever had to choose a video to describe herself, it would be the one of the guy who shared a lollipop with a tiny snake on his hand. that was the exact relationship she had with sneck, and cass wasn’t ashamed of that. zelda didn’t mind it either, which was good. it made sure that they didn’t have to tiptoe around each other in the apartment. “i actually have no idea how expensive it would be to rebuild or to just replace parts, so i can do some research on that and we can make a decision then.” she was sounding surprisingly levelheaded for someone who was absolutely losing her mind before, but she found herself functioning better under stress recently. she still wasn’t sure if it was a healthy development or not. “no, no, it’s not your fault. we both went a little crazy there,” she smiled, still a bit shaky. “thank you for helping me look for him,” she whispered, wiping away the last of her tears. “at least two, please. but i don’t think a lot of sugar and an adrenaline high would be a good combo, right?”

Zelda was honestly jealous of Cass for being able to carry her little snake around as much as she liked. Sure her chinchillas would be brought to the shop every once and a while to spend time outside of the little apartment but it was different than having a pet like Sneck. Plus, he was pretty cool for a little snake. “You don’t have to do it by yourself! I’ll help you research and we can figure out what’ll be best for your baby!” She cooed as she reached out a finger to stroke Sneck’s head. “I know but I should have at least let you look first before sounding the alarm bells about a missing snake!” Zelda shook her head and let out a sigh. “Of course! I wouldn’t let you look for him on your own. What are friends for?” Zelda offered Cass a kind smile as she patted her shoulder. “You’re right! Two sugars it is,” she called over her shoulder as she made her way to the kitchen.

minni giggled, something she didn’t do quite often, but it slipped out sometimes in the right company. “no, no, it’s not a bad thing. if people give you shit vibes and you sense something’s off, you’re under no obligation to help them, right?” she shrugged. it was all plain and simple to her. “they’re very happy doing it, so it’s all fine to me. if they like it, i’m not judging. i know for a fact people think what i do is weird too.” plus, if mack didn’t do the job, no one would, really. mortician wasn’t a very popular profession. “she is! her name’s fantasma, she’s a greek shepherd. very fluffy, very cuddly.” and her couch was constantly filled with dog hair, but that was okay. “well, it just means that there’s energy that the spirits can use.” but faint words that she couldn’t really make out yet were coming through, too. “but you’re right. someone’s here and willing to chat.”

A small smirk crossed Zelda’s face as she nodded slowly. “You’re right about that. Even then, we still want to help...most of them. So sometimes we just tell them things they probably want to hear.” She laughed. “As long as they’re happy and you guys support each other, what else could you ask for?” It was always nice to have a supportive sounding board even if they didn’t always see eye-to-eye. Maybe that was part of the reason why she was so happy to have Cass around.  “Oh how sweet! Maybe if you decided you need another investigation, you can bring her!” Zelda also wouldn’t say no to any reason to spend some time with a dog. The witch wasn’t surprised at all to hear that there was enough energy in the shop to help a spirit manifest. “Should we start asking them things or do you wait for them to get a little stronger first?” She eyed the spirit box nervously for a moment.

saying that stella would be upset if she would have been stood up is an understatement.. had she stood others up before? of course. but she had never been stood up herself and didn’t want to start now. “most people dont put cool and politician in the same conversation. but, it’s not as boring or bad as it sounds. it has it perks.” she smiled, and listen to the girl talk about her shop. “ah. so incense and crystals?” she asked, “i have a friend who used to be into all of that. i’ve never gotten into the whole metaphysical.. natural way of life. but, i know a lot of people are. so i’m assuming business is good for you?”

Zelda made a mental note to never joke with Cass about her awkwardness again after today. It wasn’t that she found it hard to make conversation, quite the contrary. She just found herself making a more conscious effort to not potentially scare her date away. “I guess I’m not most people,” Zelda stated honestly. That was an understatement. The smile on her face grew bigger as Stella spoke and she nodded excitedly. “Yeah, pretty much!” She laughed. “I would have brought you a crystal or something as a gift but you can’t be too sure how other people will feel about it, you know?” At least Stella didn’t seem to think she was a total freak or anything. “Business is always booming! I do try to do some self-care though, but it’s hard. Is it hard for you to get alone time with your dad doing what he does?”

stella let out a genuine chuckle at the girl’s reply. she was impressed a how kind but witty she was. it seemed maybe this wasn’t such a bad idea after all. “i’ll be honest, i wasn’t sure i even wanted to come. but you seem great already.” she said smiling. “and you should take that as a compliment because i never say it unless i mean it.” she winked, “oh, yeah. it’s not a big deal my father is a politician so we all have drivers. it’s a work thing.” she replied, shrugging it off. “maybe it’ll be like driving a golf cart of something. super easy i hope.” stella was a talker at time especially when she felt a bit nervy. the whole possibility of crashing a gokart into some unsuspecting racer– or chipping a nail.. uh! “so you said you’re normally busy? what do you do for work?” she questioned.

Zelda felt herself grow more at ease as every second passed. It was usually pretty stressful to meet up with someone she didn’t know especially when certain expectations were a given. Thankfully, her date didn’t seem all that bad. “Oh, same! I don’t think I could have ditched though. I would feel too bad,“ she admitted. Her eyes widened slightly as she nodded her head. “A politician. How cool. I guess it’s more understandable then with the whole driver thing!” Zelda let out a laugh. “I think that’s what it’s supposed to be like. I guess we’ll find out together then.” She turned and flashed Stella a bright smile. Her smile didn’t falter as she faced forward again. How could she explain it without potentially making someone nervous? “I own my own business! Just a little shop I run with my best friend. Some people call them metaphysical shops. It’s like my baby.”

“thank you.” willow said, appreciative of the complement. still scanning for rosemary until she found it. “aha! rosemary!” she replied coming around the corner. “i try to know my stuff. plants have always been a major interest of mine. and another tid-bit for you. did you know the oil extracted from rosemary can actually induce poisoning if used at a high enough dose?” willow asked, “i mean- i don’t think you’re using it for that. but i know it’s also good to help with memory loss.”

Zelda meant everything she said sincerely 90 percent of the time. She’s heard nothing but good things about Willow from Ara too so that had everything to do with her opinion of the younger woman. “I think it’s wonderful! I try to know most uses for plants and everything else I sell, you know. I think you can sell more when people actually think you know what you’re talking about. Don’t you think?” She raised an eyebrow as she listened to the next fact. A giggle slipped from her lips as she nodded her head. “I like the memory loss use a lot better, but that’s definitely good to know for safety reasons! I might ask you for some help in the future with plant stuff if I need it if you’re alright with that!”

stella let out a sigh of relief when she heard her named called out closely behind her. “there you are.” she said, stepping her way past the person in front of zelda. “i think i’m a bit overdressed. i forgot to ask my assistant where we were headed to.” she said, pointing to her heels and blazer. “but you look lovely.” she added, with a smile. the girl and her couldn’t be two more different beings. but stella had to say at least she was paired with someone attractive and around her age. “i’ve never even heard of this place. i don’t even drive my own car.. so this should be interesting.” she chuckled, to be fair she was a bit nervous that she would screw this up to and she didn’t love driving.

At least her date was pretty.  Zelda beamed as she waved the woman over and stepped sideways to make space for the other woman. “Maybe the rest of us are underdressed,” Zelda laughed as the person in front of them turned slightly to look at them for just a moment. “Oh, thank you! I think you look great too!” Zelda was just grateful that she wasn’t paired with some creepy old man or something. Maybe all her good karma had built up enough and this was her reward. “I’ve heard of this place but I’ve never been before. I’m usually super busy,” she shrugged her shoulders as she raised a dark eyebrow. “Really? So you have a driver or something? That’s pretty cool.” Zelda nodded in appreciate as the line moved forward. “I don’t think you actually need to know how to drive so you’re probably safe,” she laughed as she took a step forward.”

𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏: valentine’s day. 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆: naskart kart racing.

there were some things stella galatas didn’t do. kiss and tell or blind dates. she wasn’t a fan of not knowing who she was being set up with but her assistant convinced her it would be a great idea for good press. go on a little valentine’s date with a random event goer, post a couple pictures on social media, and the people would eat it up. truthfully stella needed good press lately. her attitude had been sour and people were posting all about it.. especially after the fiasco of her staying the night with a past contestant of the bachelor.. yikes. so standing up her blind date would just make that worse. 

she sighed, getting out the car only to be greeted by the entrance to naskart. looking back at her driver she knew she was in for it only to be waved at as if to say ‘thats what you get’. she hadn’t even seen who she was looking for. hoping they were at least cute. she entered and made her way to the front desk, cutting the line because why the hell not. “uh, hi i’m just looking for someone named zelda. i’ll get in line but i just wanted to make sure she hadn’t already checked in.”

Zelda thought the idea of a blind date was pretty interesting. It was honestly the first date she’d been on in as long as she could remember. Sure, she was friendly and got along with most people, but the witch shop had kind of taken over her life to a certain extent. The witch didn’t regret it at all, but she couldn’t deny it.

Her head bobbed to the music that played over the speakers as she waited in line at the front desk. Most people would have waited before getting in line, but Zelda was not most people. Her instinct had told her that the real nice thing to do would be to wait in line so that maybe her date wouldn’t have to wait so long. Her eyebrows raised slightly as she watched a woman walk past everyone right to the front of the line. Lucky she didn’t say anything about the person being rude because the next second she heard her name leave the person’s lips. Zelda slowly peeked around the person in front of her and raised a hand in greeting as she called out, “Stella? Hey you can jump in line right here with me! No need to wait in this long line!”

“ yes, i’m talking about minni, the creepy little wednesday addams ” ara confirmed, though probably with far less enthusiasm than zelda. she didn’t dislike minni — that would imply she thought about the young girl more than just when he happened to spot her at work — but she didn’t precisely like her either. she’d already tried to be helpful and gotten an earful, so honestly so long as she stayed out of ara’s way moving forward she was indifferent. “ although thanks for the confirmation that the place i spend all my weekends at probably is actually haunted. as if i didn’t have enough to worry about with the men who are alive. ” at least if they were ghosts she couldn’t see their leering stares firsthand, so that was a marked improvement. though the thought of anybody being so attached to that kind of an establishment that they would stick around for all eternity was a disturbing one. she opened her mouth to argue at the implication that zelda had forced her friendship onto her, but she had to close if after a moment of realizing well … it was kind of accurate. zelda had all but popped up out of nowhere when ara had started working next door and then never really left after that. that’s not to say the florist didn’t value her friendship, though, because she did, it just had an … odd beginning. grinning, ara simply rolled her eyes. “ willow is going to come around, i swear. i think it physically pains her not to like someone. i give her a few more weeks tops before you too are listening to her ramble about the specifically curated playlist she made to help her anthurium grow. ” the idea of getting lessons from cass wasn’t a bad one, though, for all it had been a joke, and she told her friend as much. “ i think willow needs that push. i’ve tried to help, but i think i just don’t have it in me to push too hard. but something tells me cass would not have that problem. and who knows, maybe they rub off on each other — cass a little friendlier, willow with a little more backbone. or maybe your optimism is just rubbing off on me ”

“Oh don’t be cruel, Ara! She’s adorable.” Zelda rolled her eyes playfully before she tapped the crystal on the counter. “You should consider yourself lucky! It could be way worse. It seems like at least the ghosts respect the no touching rule,” she wiggled her eyebrows. “Besides. Even if there are ghosts there, this should help you!” Zelda meant it sincerely , but she wondered if that was even comforting to Ara. She would venture a guess that it wasn’t very comforting at all. How could anything haunted sound even remotely better than terrifying even if whoever it was meant no harm. Zelda could see Ara struggle internally for a moment after she mentioned forcing her friendship on her. Even if Ara had denied it, Zelda would have insisted it was true anyway. She had always just been exceptionally friendly and moving to New York hadn’t changed that at all. “She’s never mean to me, I’ll say that much. I don’t think she’s exactly someone to run around screaming about burning witches which is good,” she let out a snort of laughter as she threaded the cord through the hole she’d made in the wire. “She plays music for the flowers? She’s so sweet. I can’t wait to hear about it,” she  added sincerely. She believed in all that stuff as much as it sounded like Willow probably did. “I’ll keep that in mind to pass on to Cass. I’m sure she’ll love it.” Zelda let out a laugh as she passed the necklace to her friend. “But I think things are right as they should be honestly. Both of our shops are in balance. A little yin and yang never hurt anyone.”

minni felt awkward doing her intro and outro with zelda there, especially because the woman never asked or agreed to be in the video at all. so she planned to do those components at home when she did the voice over as well. “heh, you just send them on their way packed with lies about a promising future. i can get that,” she nodded, definitely not above lying to get rid of toxic vibes in her life. “dad’s definitely not, and mom doesn’t really mind it, at the very least. my sister loves it, though. she’s a mortician.” with a last adjustment to a camera that was standing slightly wonky, minni stepped back to admire her handiwork. “i love chinchillas,” she nodded, the ghost of a smile playing on her lips. “my dog fantasma has a nose for cold spots. she actually dragged me over here a few times, so i knew to check it out.” as zelda disappeared into the back room, minni turned on the spirit box, making sure to sit away from it a little bit when the cushions arrived. “that’s great ─” she started, but the spirit box already started crackling. “alright, let’s see if whoever’s here wants to talk.”

It sounded bad when Minni said it that way. Zelda wrinkled her nose and shook her head. “I mean, only some of the time! Most of the time it’s not exactly lies! Just...half truths? I don’t know if that sounds much better,” she admitted. Zelda could understand where she was coming from with that. Her own parents were really not super supportive of her job, but they at least liked how she was self-sufficient. “Oh cool! I can’t imagine liking that job very much but to each his own,” Zelda shrugged her shoulders. She clapped her hands excitedly for a moment. “Oh you have a dog? She sounds wonderful! Animals are so in tune with the spiritual. What kind of dog is she?” Zelda’s attention was almost instantly drawn to the crackling little box on the floor. “So that means someone wants to talk? Hello,” she called out into the empty room.

it  had  been  another  busy  day  at  the  bakery,  something  that  seemed  to  be  normal  these  days.  addilyn  was  happy  her  shift  was  over,  but  she  did  feel  bad  that  her  dad  and  victoria  were  going  to  be  by  themselves,  even  if  it  did  slow  down  before  she  left;  but,  the  girl  was  hungry.  she  didn’t  even  notice  that  she  still  had  flour  on  her  cheek  from  her  baking  this  morning,  all  she  could  think  about  was  what  she  wanted  for  dinner.  sure,  she  could  have  just  gotten  something  from  the  bakery,  but  in  all  honesty,  there  was  only  so  many  times  you  could  eat  baked  goods  before  you  want  something  else.  she  was  walking  along  the  sidewalk,  scrolling  through  all  the  places  to  eat  near  her,  not  paying  attention  to  the  world  around  her.

Zelda was pretty used to long days and running out quick on her lunch break so they didn’t lose too much business. She had ran to one of the food carts near the shop and had picked up something to eat with a quick thank you to the man who ran the stand. As the witch turned to face the direction she’d come, she accidentally bumped into the other woman as she passed. “Oh! Sorry! That’s my fault. I wasn’t looking where I was going!“ Zelda brought a hand up to her heart. “You have something on your cheek, by the way.” She pointed to her own cheek.

sauntering through the city clad in designer clothes and watches looking like he was almost begging to be robbed, dawson was the perfect imagine of someone walking with the ease of truly not caring what those around him thought. he always seemed at peace, never in a rush or seemingly annoyed, making him surprisingly approachable considering everything else. that’s how he made most of his friends, zelda being the perfect example of how serendipitous life could be if you just open yourself to any possibility.

it was moments like that that made life so fun for dawson, and even more fun when doing something as simple as walking across the street led to beautiful women calling his name and chasing after him. hearing his name called out over and over again he turned around aimlessly trying to find the voice, smiling wide as he finally caught who it was and opened his arms up to her. “zelda, hey.” he gave her a hug, hitting her with that warm but devious smile that never seemed to fade away from his face. “i’ve missed you too, crazy girl. what are you doing, what’s up?”

The witch was proud to say that she had a wide variety of friends. It definitely helped to have people from all walks of life for different reasons. The most important thing was that she would never turn down someone who tried to be her friend. Sure that hadn’t always worked out well, but that was life. She let out a laugh as she squeezed Dawson in a tight hug. “I decided to take a day off! I think it’s well deserved with all the hard work Cass and I do,” she let out a dramatic sigh. 

“Life had been pretty chaotic lately, but I can’t really complain. I just continue to be blessed,” She rubbed her hands together as switched the small grocery bag to her other hand. “How about you! I hope you’ve been staying safe! Have you done anything extra interesting lately, darling?” She raised an eyebrow and flashed him a playful smile.
