Even before he said this I made this connection, but I think a lot about how Toby Fox said if Mother 3 was ever officially ported to the west people would see how unoriginal he is. And I will be getting into Mother 3 spoilers here but I need to get my knight/masked man ramblings out somewhere.

To me, the knight's identity has become quite obvious. It's Dess. I don't need to go over evidence because that's not my end point here, but I feel like people who say it's too obvious have forgotten it is not meant for people to think chapters through years between each, I think the story was built to be understood from start to end by casual players.

In Mother 3, the main antagonist through most of the game is the Masked Man. The Masked Man's identity is a secret through most of the game, but it can be, and is, put together by most people before the reveal. It's the main character's brother. The real mystery, by the time you've figured it out, becomes WHY the person is trying to end the world and fighting against you, and HOW they ended up as a shambling soldier of the enemy who caused their suffering in the first place. A smaller character from the previous game. In Mother 3 it's Porky, in Deltarune I think it'll probably be Gaster.

Either way, with how things end for The Masked Man in Mother 3, I am worried for Dess. Especially since everyone got a happy ending but Asriel in Undertale.
