St Bartholomew’s “relics” consist of his skin & bones. Initially discovered in Lipari, an island off the coast of Sicily, majority of those relics are now kept in Basilica San Bartolomeo. His relation to medicine arises from when a part of his relics were presented to Emperor Otto II in 983. Since then, they have been conserved in San Bartolomeo all’Isola in Rome, which was founded on the temple of Asclepius. Since then, his name was associated with medicine & hospitals. To represent Barts and the London, here’s a cute picture with the man himself 😉 📸 PC: @clarellau (at Archbasilica of St. John Lateran)
Happy #scruffsaturday! Hope everyone’s had a swell break & ready to tackle another week! 🤗☀️ Hope every Barts medic is ready for the start of the last rotation! P.S. let me know what y’all think of the scruff! A keeper? (at The Point)
