Agree or Not Agree, How I Share Data is the Question.
In my 25 years of life, I do not think I have ever actually read the terms and conditions. I just click the little box labeled “I agree”. Hidden in those terms and conditions are the privacy policy that I have come to realize is a bit more important than I ever thought it was. I knew they collected basic data, but had no idea just how deep in the funnel of my life they can crawl. From what pages or posts I’ve liked, all the way to what phone and version of IOS my phone is running. While the data remains anonymous, there is always a chance for a breach or an abuse of the data they have. While it feels very Big Brother, there is always the flipside of these. Without this mass of data, marketers would have no way to target who sees their ads. Personally, I much rather see an advertisement for running shoes or paddle boards after searching for them online, than flooded with random advertisements.
