I don't think people appreciate how Sun and Jin do represent the lovers, the spouses, the married. And I don't mean it in the legal sense of the term (marriage is THEE contract), I mean it on a more metaphysical level. Everyone on that island was predestined to find each other but they were destined to be a couple way before the island. Like, they are two but they are also a unit. And I understand that from a feminist reading this is ultra meh. But on a more emotional level they do get to me because... well, they do stick together, they really do (obvi, this means that on a narrative level they must be separated but that's a topic for another day). Is it always healthy? No. Is it always fun? Also no. Would I personally like to have one person in my life who would always choose me? Not gonna lie, yes. It's perhaps a bit selfish but sometimes it's nice to feel that someone will always put you first. Way better when there is reciprocity. So yeah, I love Sun and Jin even though they're not the best people but they were the best for each other and they really tried to make it work. and that kinda makes me wanna cry.
