There is not a single person I want to talk to or a single piece of information I want to know so badly that I would make a discord account to do so. I literally had no intention of lying about that like it's so easily verifiable it would be insane to lie about it and expect to get away with it. It's like. Imagine you got published in a journal called "The Big Ass Journal" which is not nothing but not a huge deal either. It's respectable but not famous. But there is another journal that publishes similar work and is probably 10x more well-known/prestigious called "The Big Apple Journal". And of course you're aware of both of these journals because you've been published in one and most people in your field have heard of the other one. So you're drunk and you're writing your cover letter for submissions and when it's time to list your previous publications you're kind of on autopilot. Because "obviously" you know all the journals that have published you by heart. Except you're drunk and your brain knows it's time to type "The Big Ass Journal" but a couple neurons get crossed and you end up typing the extremely adjacent name "The Big Apple Journal" instead. And when you're scanning the cover letter to make sure you didn't fuck anything up the names are so similar looking that they pass your drunken scan. And so you submit it and get rejected and a year later you look back at that cover letter so you can copy and paste your pubs list into a new submission and you realize Oh No. I Typed Apple Instead Of Ass Because I Was Drunk And Now My Career Is Probably Over Because I'm On Record As A Lying Liar Who Lies About Easily Verifiable Shit

Went back through my old submissions to find my cover letter template and. Hooooooo boy I knew last year's habit of submitting while drinking was bad but I didn't realize how bad until now. In this one single 5 sentence cover letter I address the editors as "writers" instead of editors and, when providing the names of journals that published me before, get the name of one of them wrong in such a way that it becomes the name of a far more prestigious journal that I have never been published in. Dude I want to die so bad it's no wonder I got nothing but rejections last year. Frankly I'm surprised they didn't beat me and take my blood too while they were at it

Because the bad thing didn't end up happening I suppose I do need to actually get some work done today and not just sit here playing Sky Cards until 6 pm. Unfortunately

Ok so I shouldn't even be surprised about this anymore but the thing at work that I thought was happening and was seriously stressing me out and making me want to quit didn't end up happening and everything is fine. Man it's so fun being scared of everything all the time for no reason. I still want to find a new job but it is nowhere near as urgent as it was before

If anyone else on here likes watching flight radar as much as I do get the game Sky Cards. You can "catch" the different planes that fly over you/in your area and get plane facts and travel to different airports and catch more varieties. It's so fun hearing a plane flying overhead and catching it and going Hehe... They don't even know I just collected them

I think the next season of the TV show "White Lotus" should feature a family who goes to the hotel and just has a great time every episode and goes home at the end of the season feeling refreshed and deeply connected with each other because nothing bad happened to them at all
