Lorenzi Moulage d'Art  (Death Mask Museum)

Located on the outskirts of central Paris, Lorenzi Moulage d'Art is a family run generations-old sculpture workshop in business since 1871.  Lorenzi  holds a collection of over a thousand molds, its narrow halls and tight rooms are filled floor to ceiling with shelves of plaster busts, figurines and death masks of famous notables, such as Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopin, ‪Maximilien de Robespierre‬, Napoleon Bonaparte and a beloved monarch, King Henry IV of France (Good King Henry).

Zodiac man, fol. 54v, LJS 463. My favorite part of zodiac man illustrations is the fact that Libra – as represented by a pair of scales – pretty much visually mirrors the kidneys that they are meant to be responsible for. Also, I don’t know about you, but my feet do look exactly like fish. It’s uncanny.
