@wonderwalliris
As a newborn gcester (born a month ago) here are my favorite gcest moments in no particular order:
1. Loch Lomond gig (starting off with obvious thing but who of us gcesters wouldn't give our soul for THAT gig record?) I think about that day every day, this is my ultimate Roman empire.
2. Five News Interview with Liam on December 2th 2009, when Liam said to Noel:
See you in the next world. And don't be late.
I don't know what exactly makes this moment hurt so much, it's just such a profound moment as it shows that even while fighting and not speaking with each other Liam still wants to be with Noel in the next life because he had Noel his whole life. I mean Noel was the youngest child for 5 years before Liam was born, but Liam... Liam doesn't know life without Noel. So he doesn't want and can't even imagine not having Noel in another life.
And that second phrase "don't be late".
He doesn't want to live even a second without Noel 😭
3. Noel releasing a song with lyrics
She wore a star-shaped tambourine
Prettiest girl I'd ever seen
When everyone knows that Liam famously had a star-shaped tambourine
like
WHAT DO YOU MEEEAAANNNN
There are two things that blow my mind:
1. The obvious sweet gcest moment when Noel openly sings about Liam and proclaims him the prettiest girl he had ever seen. (When I was writing about it to my friend, I threw up a little bit because my body just couldn't handle this information).
2. The way this moment makes me once again realize how fascinating people's psychology is. There we have an open "in-your-face" proof that Noel sings a love song about and for Liam (I mean you can't deny Liam having a star-shaped tambourine) and people just like "nahh".
The need for happy wondering is just mind-blowing. Next time, they will argue that water is wet.
4. The whole "Slide Away" song. It's in my top 5 songs, but I physically can't listen to it often, coz it makes me too fucking sad.
5. "Take Me", coz I would die to see Noel's face when he heard it for the first time.
Also: "Take Me" being the only original The Rain song, that Noel considered playing, coz he liked the lyrics.
I'm so fucking sure he did 😆
6. Noel jumping up and rushing to be on Liam's way because he hoped Liam would grab his ass or something he usually does.
I like this moment because it basically proves that Noel LOVES physical affection from Liam during the shows. It's not like I had my doubts about it, but it's nice to have proofs, especially since Noel is more restrained (physically). I think?
7. Zendaya laugh and the way Noel tugs and pulls at Liam's arm to get his attention.
8. This fucking moment KILLS me. Especially knowing that he just sung "I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now".
And he OPENLY stares at his brother? If one of them was a girl, people would say it's the proof that there is something between them, "he/she is in love with him/her, serenades to the other" and all this heteronormative bullshit.
"when we on stage I want only him" oh I need to be put down 😭
It's so intimate, I feel like I'm not supposed to see it.
9. The head tilt!!!
Their little moments in the crowded room 😍
10. Okay I know I said the list will be in no particular order but listen.
This is my favorite gcest moment EVER (I didn't even start writing, and my eyes are already wet):
Taking the long way home
So we can be alone
These lyrics make me SICK, like they make me physically feel pain.
The tenderness, the love, the softness...
When I discovered gcest a month ago, I literally felt heartbroken by their story, and then I read these lyrics in some posts, and I just... I remember recording a 10-minute voice message to my friend just crying uncontrollably about the meaning of these words.
I haven't still listened to the actual song because right now I understand that I'm not in the right mental state to handle it.
Like what do you mean you take the long way home just to have a little more time together??
Imagine living in the same house, sharing a room, and STILL want to spend more time together. Imagine needing those little moments because you're not alone in the house, and that's why it will never be enough, so you have to steal more time.
And I don't know these words show such tenderness, softness and even some kind of vulnerability.
We have so many songs (both Liam's and Noel's) about feelings in general (which is fine because art is what helps us reflect on our feelings). And usually we have the same feelings other people have, i mean we can't discover a new feeling, this is why we can relate to love songs and hearbreak songs of other artists as if we experienced what they did, and we kinda did experience it because love is love, and sadness is sadness for any person.
So I treasure these two lines because they allow us to see the REAL picture, not just feelings and metaphors: what the life was like when they were young, poor kids who probably still didn't figure out their feelings for each other and they just subconsciously NEEDED to have an alone-time, just the two of them.
Their story is so unique (due incest duh) that these little crumbs of real information are so precious for me.
We will never be able to KNOW (we only can guess) so the fact that Noel let us learn something - especially so tender - makes me cry.
(Another example: the lyrics in Liam's "One Of Us":
You angrily said
With a smoke-ring around your heads
You would see me on the otherside
So we know that at some point during a fight (if I'm not mistaken it was The Fight™) Noel said those words and when Liam said on the interview "see you in the other world" (look 2th item of this post) he actually repeated Noel's words back to him.)
Bonus: Sea motif in both brother's art.
I didn't included it in the list because I still need to look more closely into this (I need more time to listen to their solo songs coz 1. I have to be in the certain mood to be able to handle the story and 2. I'm not a native speaker so i need time to search for lyrics and translate it and pay more attention to the meaning because sometimes it's hard for me to understand metaphors).
Let me know your favorite gcest moments and facts!
am i allowed to say kill all trillionaires or is that too specific of a threat

i'm trying liam!!
in 2002 when noel claimed that he and liam were "head-over-heels in love", this was actually a subtle nod to the fact that he and liam were head-over-heels in love.
i love love love love when they do their little head tilts. i love it as much as the kisses and everything. it’s so serious
