Currently we're looking for more George and Ringo centered articles, but we're happy to take any submissions based around The Beatles and queer history and social theory! So send us a post card, drop us a line, and state your point of view to us! :))

Today we celebrate the 86th birthday of the one and only Richard Starkey aka Ringo Starr aka our favourite blue-eyed boy ♡♡♡

Happy Fête Day!

On this day in 1957, these two crazy kids met at the Woolton Village Fête in Liverpool, and history was made!

“I was very impressed by Paul playing Twenty Flight Rock. He could obviously play the guitar. I half thought to myself – he’s as good as me. I’d been kingpin up to then. Now, I thought if I take him on, what will happen? It went through my head that I’d have to keep him in line, if I let him join. But he was good, so he was worth having. He also looked like Elvis. I dug him.” 

“My memory of meeting John for the first time is very clear. … I can still see John now - checked shirt, slightly curly hair, singing ‘Come Go With Me’ by the Del Vikings. He didn’t know all the words, so he was putting stuff in about penitentiaries - and doing a good job of it.I remember thinking, ‘He looks good - I wouldn’t mind being in a group with him.’ … Then, as you all know, he asked me to join the group, and so we began our trip together. We wrote our first songs together, we grew up together and we lived our lives together. And when we’d do it together, something special would happen. There’d be that little magic spark. I still remember his beery old breath when I first met him here [Woolton church fete] that day. But I soon came to love that beery old breath. And I loved John. I always was and still am a great fan of John’s.”
