Problematic because: "redd is a scammer. like, very literally. he shows up calling you “cousin,” acts like he’s doing you a favour, and then tries to sell you overpriced furniture or fake artwork that the museum won’t even accept. depending on the game, you might not even know it’s fake until after you’ve already paid him, which is extremely rude behaviour from someone who keeps pretending you’re family. he’s obviously not evil in a serious way, but by animal crossing standards he’s a menace."

"redd is terrible and i love him. he pulls up like “hey cousin :) special deal just for you :)” and then sells you a fake painting that blathers immediately refuses to touch. absolute menace. but also animal crossing would be so much less funny without him. everyone else is giving you fruit and life advice and meanwhile redd is committing art fraud on a tiny boat. king of being suspicious in a game where the worst thing most villagers do is redecorate badly."
