WELCOME TO THE MET GALA

The Met Gala is an annual fundraiser for the Costume Institute — and this year, the new exhibition, titled “Costume Art,” is dedicated to the overlapping ways in which fashion and art have engaged with the human body throughout the ages. Guests are expected to interpret the evening's theme through their attire. This year's exhibition, “Costume Art,” is paired with the dress code “Fashion is Art,” allowing plenty of room for creativity — and bold risks — on the red carpet. Its hosts include Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour. So follow along as the cameras track the comings and goings of culture’s biggest players as they finally answer the age-old question: Is fashion art?

OOC INFORMATION

This is a single-part event, meaning admins will not be providing additional parts or plot drops — but members are welcome to message us if they have something spicy they'd want their character to introduce into the evening! This goes out to any writers/characters, but especially those in leadership positions — the world is watching, and this is the perfect opportunity to make an impact.

IC, the event takes place on the night of May 4th, and into the early hours of May 5th.

There is no requirement to pause non-MET threads during this time, but we encourage members to prioritize event interactions if possible <3

Ask memes are also open during this period!

DRESS CODE

The official dress code is “Fashion is Art”.

ATTENDANCE

Celebrity characters, public figures, and high-profile characters would have received an invitation to attend The MET Gala. They are welcome to the party inside, as well as to walk the red carpet.

Non-high profile characters would only attend the party inside. These characters would be there as someone’s plus one, be working at the event, or be invited through their jobs (ie. Artists, Museum workers, Media characters, etc.).

Certain characters (like media, law enforcement, art-adjacent characters) can also have work affairs at the event.

Characters can also buy tickets. In 2024, a ticket to the MET Gala was priced at $75,000.

If you want your character to attend, but you can’t think of a way for them to be there, you’re welcome to message the main for an admin to help you come up with scenarios to make it work. <3

OUTFIT CHALLENGE

We challenge our members to post the outfits their characters will be wearing and any other information you’d like to share about their attendance.

JAZZ CLUB OPENING

Tonight, the Brotherhood expands its Manhattan real-estate through the opening of The Atlas Room — a jazz club crafted as a bridge between their underground business and those who might stumble upon it. Guests rush in, and timeless songs lay the groundwork for the soundtrack of a lifetime — connecting the most unlikely of connections through jazzy beats and a welcoming atmosphere. Just shy of 10pm, the night is only but starting.

OOC INFORMATION:

IC, the event takes place on the night of March 1st (WorldBurn’s 5th Anniversary!!!). OOC, we’re starting it a bit earlier. 

Members do not need to pause non-event threads during this time — feel free to keep writing your regular threads in conjunction to your event ones <3 We just ask that no new threads set outside of the event be started until the event wraps.

We encourage you to plot with your fellow players any plots and/or conflicts that may happen. For heavier conflicts, just please shoot the main a quick message about it first <3

As always, if anyone has any questions or need of assistance with any plots, please feel free to ask through dms or #ask-the-admins!

THE ATLAS ROOM:

A freshly launched Brotherhood property. It's up to you if your character is aware of this fact or not — depending on their connections and affiliations!

This is the gang's first true expansion since leadership changes have taken place.

All guests are welcome: civilian, media, government, the elite — rival gang members wouldn’t be turned away, either. If anything, not yet.

PROMPTS & CHALLENGES: 1. OUTFIT & NARRATIVE HEADCANON: What outfit is your character wearing? Who are they with? Why have they decided to attend? Answer all or any of these through a post of your liking. <3

2. JAZZ SONGS: For this challenge, characters can drive interactions through songs provided: which may or may not be ringing through the club.

Whatever route you take, is up to you — so long as the given song is taken into consideration. Lyrics don't need to be spoken or explicitly a part of the thread, but can be if you wish! If you just want the song to be playing as a 'soundtrack' to the thread, that is perfectly okay as well!

Members can use these songs for open or closed starters. Whoever claimed the song can use them as many times as they wish.
