Hiatus Announcement

I’m going on indefinite hiatus. I’m not gonna be gone forever–I doubt I can permanently walk away from DW–but for now I”m going to take a break. Lately I haven’t felt much motivation to be on here or my Clara, @worthsolving. Partly this is because I’ve actually branched out of the DW rp community (who would have thought) but even before that I was losing muse.

This is just for a breath of fresh air. I’ve been running this blog for about 4 years and never took a huge break from it. Maybe I’ll get inspired when the new series rolls around. For now, tho, you can find me over on @withcameraandpen (for the musical theatre-inclined).

My name is Riley Smith and for the past decade, ever since I was about 13, I have dreamed of going to New York City and I now have the opportunity to do it. Not only that I have the opportunity to do it with my best friend since I was 9, Justine. I'll be hitching a ride with Justine's mother and...

So, along with Philly Wizard World, I’m getting the amazing opportunity to help a very close friend of mine with a life long dream.

I have the ability to fund myself to get to New York, but for Riley (@theknittedscarf), it’s a little more difficult.

This isn’t crazy important, no one’s gonna die, but it’s definitely something that I would like to help them with.

Fun facts about Riley and I!

Riley taught me to swear. Yes, Garden saying “fuck” is on account of this person.

We lived exactly 3 blocks apart for about 7 years.

In 2013, I crewed a stage production of RENT that Riley was a part of.

The first time I got grounded was when I was 15, and snuck Riley into my house when we were both sick, and we ate lots of soup and watched a bootleg copy of Legally Blonde The Musical.

Our affectionate name for each other is “Brother Lady” This is derived from Riley being trans, and from the Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends.

Everything else is worked out EXCEPT for finances. Give a dude a hand <3

She defended from his lunge--a little sloppy, she could admit, but it got the job done.

“I like your style.” She rounded on him, raising the sword again and slashing. “Ha!”

Clara sighed and stepped inside, shutting the bedroom door behind her. “I dread what happens when you’re alone, but everyone needs time to themselves once in a while. I didn’t want to disturb yours.”

She sat beside him and took his hand. He had been uncharacteristically quiet, and the burden of his happiness fell squarely on his companion’s shoulders. “Talk to me.”

The idea of having a family with Clara had been on his mind for ages. He still couldn’t believe it was about to become a reality.

She raised her eyebrows. “Would never have guessed, with all the running and saving worlds and such." Somehow they had spilled their secrets and found their way here, ready to start a family.

She leaned her head on his shoulder. “I’m so happy, Doctor, and it’s all thanks to you. I never thought I could have all this with you. Thought you’d pick up and run away if I ever mentioned settling down.”

Clara turned at the sound of her daughter’s voice, grateful for any reason to stop washing dishes. “Of course you can,” she said, drying her hands on the towel. “What is it, dear?”

“If you’re tired, you don’t need to sneak away from your father when he tucks you in. It’s fun, but you just end up more tired for it.”

She carried Johanna out of the room, glancing at her husband as she brought their daughter upstairs to bed. “Dream about all the tea parties you want. Goodnight, sweetheart.”

When Johanna was sufficiently tucked in, Clara came back downstairs and plopped down on their couch, smiling at John. “Have fun eavesdropping?”
