Tatiana sifts through files, reading up on the people she worked with before hearing a noise behind her. Turning, she smiles and puts her hands up. "Ok, you caught me," she says, chuckling. “But I figured this would be an easier way to get to know the people I work with.”
Smart, although not the best way to form relationships. She walks in and plucks the file from Tatiana's hands before thumbing through it. It's hard to build trust out of paper.
A head raised and grey blue eyes rose as well to meet the other woman’s. Company wasn’t much her forte, especially company of those from her work. However, for some reason, it didn’t bother her. She remembered that she’d seen the woman around, one of the four horsemen, a name she found unfitting seeing as they were all women. But all the same. A hand set lazily over the rim of her glass, just barely grazing the cold surface. Her head cocked to the side and a smile found her lips, that hauntingly sweet sort of smile that meant nothing but trouble. "Tonight, yes. Unless you want me to be someone else?"
War let her finger trace the rim of her glass as the woman next to her looked up. The woman was blonde, pretty, her face was easily stored in her memory. She lifted the glass and took a sip, letting the glass linger on her lip before she set it down on the bar. "Yourself is fine tonight but I appreciate the flexibility"
She’s found herself bored tonight, and resorted to going to a club. Normally, she wouldn’t lower herself to this — she much prefers the finer things in life; rather than cheap vodka and shitty music. Of course, she much prefers her job to spending a night on the town, as well. But it doesn’t really bother her as long as something entertains her.
With nothing better to do War found herself outside a noisy bar. The smell of alcohol lured her to the bar. She needed a drink. When didn't she need one? Especially lately, things had been so slow, so boring. The horseman could hardly keep her skin on. She tapped on the bar and ordered her usual before lifting herself up onto a stool. Looking to her left she spotted a familiar woman, one of her little soldiers. Death told her not to call them that but she enjoyed the term. "Barbara right?" She smirked, remembering the woman's name. War could almost see her file in her mind.
We fought the infection. We survived the apocalypse. And now, we face extinction.
I think it's about time I returned
The city seems to have gone quiet.
You Only Live Once || Jacob, Vivian, War
Jacob stayed low as the hail of bullets tore at his cover and Vivian’s. There was almost nothing they could do until the projectiles stopped, and hopefully that would be soon. “How much ammo does this bitch have…” As long as they stayed put, there wasn’t any immediate danger, unless of course War decided to charge. Then that would be another story. With Vivian only able to throw her knives, and after seeing War’s ability to dodge even a well thrown one, Jacob knew it was up to him to keep their enemy at bay. So reaching his hand out just enough for his pistol to peak around his cover, Jacob resumed his blind fire in War’s general direction.
When his gun ran out, Jacob quickly pulled his hand back and ejected the spent clip. Movement caught his attention and he spotted Vivian readying more knives. When she gave him a nod, he returned the gesture while sliding in a fresh clip of ammo. He listened closely, waiting for their opportunity to strike back. The moment War’s gun clicked empty, Jacob rushed around his cover and aimed at the horseman. Just as he pulled the trigger though, a sharp pain shot up from his injured ankle and his leg buckled, sending his shot wide. It cost him a few precious seconds, but he re-centered himself into a crouch and focused again on War. Releasing his held breath, Jacob pulled the trigger.
The clone loaded another clip and continued to rain bullets down on the two Nexus agent. War watched from her position in amusement perhaps the agents would run off. It wouldn't surprise her to see a bit of cowardice from the pretty boy. The red head was too stupid to run not that she cared they would fail either way. The clone was keeping them busy but eventually it would have to make a move. Her eyes flickered to the woman as she pulled out another knife "Shit" She mumbled as the blade hit her look alike in the ankle. War pulled her gun and shoved a clip in its barrel. The clone went down, its legs buckling as it kneeled down in pain. She watched as the man aimed his gun. Pushing herself off the wall, she didn't stay to watch the clone die. She rolled her eyes and walked down the hallway towards the gunfire.
War let them have a few moments to themselves, they thought she was dead and that amused her. Despite that she had lost her clone she looked forward to killing the two agents herself. Jack or Jacob or whatever his name was would be the first to die. War knew she should have finished him in the subway but better late than never. She smirked to herself before stepping out and glancing down at the clone "What a shame" War muttered before locking target on the man's forehead and pulling the trigger without another word.
You Only Live Once || Jacob, Vivian, War
Jacob ignored her comment about the silencer. Would it have been quieter? Yes. But Jacob’s driving in front of the building would have set off every alarm this place had. War knew they were here. And picking the lock would have cost them at least few seconds that she could have used to get prepared. Or worse, try to activate her ability on them. If she did and saw that it wasn’t working on them, if she didn’t come into this fight completely overconfident that she could destroy them with a thought, their biggest edge in this fight was already over. As soon as they turned the corner and heard the smart-ass remark though, Jacob saw that he had no reason to worry about that.
There, rounding the corner was the monster he had dreamed of putting a bullet into ever since that day on the subway. She had a weapon, but it wasn’t aimed at them. Meanwhile both he and Viv had theirs drawn and ready. Out of the corner of his eye, Jacob noticed Viv sheathing one of her knives and reaching for another. He probably would have preferred a quick charge, throw War off balance, but he could deal with long range. As his fellow agent unsheathed her new knife, Jacob aimed his gun at War’s head and pulled the trigger.
It missed. And the moment the bullet sparked off the wall behind the horseman, Jacob saw just how reliant he’d been on his ability up to this point. Without it, he couldn’t make the tiny corrections in angle that decided whether the bullet would hit the mark or move off a foot. Without it, he’d only hit War from this distance with a lucky shot. So as Viv ducked behind cover and threw her knife, Jacob fired off a few more shots and rolled into cover of his own.
War watched with an amused smile on her face. The monitor was better humor than most T.V shows. She quite liked watching someone else try and be her. She hoped their would be a good fight, perhaps someone could even take an interesting injury. All the possibilities brought humored smile to her lips. A sigh escaped her lips as the red head threw her knife. So typical, so predictable and the other agent was sending bullets all over the place. She laughed at the incompetence. Perhaps she could amp it up a bit. War focused in on herself yet the rage, the fire, it wouldn't come. A bit alarmed at this result she tried again yet still nothing. Analyzing the screen carefully she spotted the device "Son of a bitch" She muttered before crossing her arms tightly over her chest. She felt slightly less amused by the whole thing now that she could no longer use her ability. It took the fun out of having abilities.
The clone eye'd Jacob as he missed "Pathetic" She spat before dodging the knife. She pulled it out of the wall behind her and tested it's sharpness with her thumb before looking up "Testy, testy" she chided before sending more bullets in their direction with her other hand. The machine gun sprayed bullets at the two, the clone wanted to please her boss and as more information on War came to the shifters head the more she figured Miss. Rose enjoyed a good fight. She tossed the knife over her shoulder and pulled another gun from her pant leg. "Let's tango"
You Only Live Once || Jacob, Vivian, War
Vivian’s response actually brought a smile to Jacob’s face. “That’s what I wanted to hear." Vivian was crazy, she was ruthless, and she was the most likely reason this mission would be successful. If War wasn’t one of the most evil being on the face of the Earth, Jacob might have felt a little sorry for what was about to come her way. When he saw Viv pull out one of her knives, he felt his ankle ache again. “You know, I still hate you right now for throwing a knife into me, but I think we might just be able to get along one day." He didn’t add that she would need to cut down on being a bitch first, but he supposed that was his first step into trying to get along with her.
It wasn’t until the building came in sight that Jacob finally slowed the car down. It would be safer to park away, then move in on foot to lower the chance of detection. It would also have been safer to wait for backup to arrive. But they didn’t have time for safe. There was no guarantee how long War was going to remain in this location and they needed to hit hard before the horseman knew what had hit her. Backup would arrive soon enough. “Get ready, we’re going in hot." And with that, Jacob pulled the car into a tight turn that stopped them just a little ways away from the front door. “Let’s go."
Gun already in hand as he stepped out of the car, Jacob looked at the door they’d be going through and saw that it was locked. A precise shot from his pistol broke it so they could get through. With no other immediate obstacles or dangers he could see, he activated the ability nullifier. For just a second he stopped, knowing that something was off, but not able to put his finger on it. Then he realized that he couldn’t see past the doors, that all the details were a little less sharp than they had been right before. “Good news is that this thing works." He just hoped it didn’t affect his accuracy too much. But at least he didn’t have to worry about War making him shoot Viv in the back.
"Oh shut up" War spat, emphasizing each word as it rolled off her tongue "If you're going to look like me please try not to embarrass me or I will kill you" Her heels pushed off her desk so she could stand "Jack and his little ginger friend just entered the building" She laughed as she grabbed a large automated weapon and tossed it to the shifter "Try not to shoot yourself" She smirked and grabbed her own hand gun. Nodding towards the door she pushed her clone out the door of her office. Nexus. She shook her head. Always so pathetic, how foolish did these agents think she was. They were practically knocking on her front door. "I wonder if they are selling Girl Scout cookies, let's go check it out shall we?" She sneered, the clone was being silent not that she really cared but it was a bit odd.
The two agents had broken through the door and were making their way down the west hall, how naive of them to attack her on her own grounds. It had only taken one little bird to ruin their plans although even if she hadn't been forewarned neither agent had bothered to take our her security cameras. "And these people call themselves agents..." She scoffed, she knew the ins and outs of Nexus protocol considering she had lived in it's inter workings for years. They hadn't changed their ways. Their offensives remained rash and calculable, lacking grace. It was no surprise the two agents were about to die. Taking her on with no backup was about the most idiotic thing she had ever heard. Even if the two were post humans they lacked the stealth and cleverness to kill her.
War stopped just before the turn of the hallway that would intersect the two Nexus agents. She grabbed the clones arm "If you kill one I'll raise your pay a grand. Both and I'll triple it, got it?" The clone nodded uniformly and broke off to intersect them. She actually enjoyed having a clone to do her dirty work, as much as she loved doing it herself the two agents were mostly a waste of her time. The monitor on the opposite wall lit up with her touch, she bypassed her own security and pulled up the cameras. "Better than any movie" She laughed to herself and watched as the clone moved forward.
War 2.0 spotted them soon after she had turned the corner "Well, well what are the Girl Scouts selling today?" The clone smirked and pointed her gun at the two agents. War watched with a gleeful anticipation but scowled at the use of her line. Violence always made the hairs on her arms stand with chilling accuracy. She always loved to watch a good fight.

Don't even think about pinching me
Now why would I do that?
I've crawled out of the hole I've been hiding in
I’m never incompetent. Not to sound full of myself- even though I am.
Good to know, perhaps one day I will be able to persuade you to join us but like I said do your research first
I've crawled out of the hole I've been hiding in
Oh, there’s no need to tell me that.
Well thats good to know, at least you're not incompetent...yet
