wearelxgionâ:
If there has ever been a place that he does not feel like he belong at all, it is this mansion of a house. Every step is taken with care, afraid of leaving any kind of dirt brought in from the outside might leave a stain. Honestly, Gareth is half expecting himself to be thought of as the dirt from the outside.
Though seeing his friend by the pool, Gareth gives a smile, turning to thank the man who had lead him there profusely as well, before taking a seat, a soft smile given towards the dog as well. âSuch a beautiful animal.â
âSophie is doing good. She is at her motherâs for the week. I miss her of course, butâŠâ
Wants to state that it is what is best for her, but the words taste bitter on his tongue while only thinking them. Admitting you would be called a unfit father because you do not have money. It stung.
Instead he reaches towards the ice tea, hesitating for a moment before picking up the glass. Such an expensive thing, it was hard to imagine.
âHow are you doing?â
Smile so often manufactured shines unconstructed, the corners relaxed as a genuine WARMTH spills from them. Takes good note of the way Gareth pauses, how his sentence trails into an ambiguity that Estela doesnât necessarily need filled. Has a good HUNCH she knows where his thoughts lean like willow branches through rivers of uncertainty. Hesitates, pushing her shades up into her hair. And though her gaze is somewhat impaired with red veins and an ungodly hangover from pills and pop her stare remains INTENSE as ever. Assessing. Finally she speaks, clipped tone a note softer than it might otherwise have been, âAnd Iâm certain she misses you too. How couldnât she? To have such a devoted father who loves her so much - ... You canât BUY that.â Taps her fingernails against crystal before she continues, âSheâs as rich as sheâll ever need.â
Alejandro settles as Estela talks, huge head sinking to the floor although he keeps his eyes keenly on Gareth. Her own GRIP on the glass is careless, just another trinket of ridiculous expense. âWonderfully,â she answers a beat too quickly. The lines of her collar bones and the red rims around her eyes tell a different story. (Over indulgence being Estelaâs area of expertise.) And then, with some HONESTY, âWith Bernardo gone for the season itâs quieter. Although I find Iâm no good at quiet lately. This house is too big to be filled with such silence. I find it better out here, by the pool. At least you can hear the birds sing.â And in a second breath the FACADE is back, charm dripping from her tongue as she pulls her glasses back down to cover her face. âSpeaking of, I was going to throw a party. A tiny thing, really, But I find myself in dire need of an entertainer,â throws a poignant glance over her sunglasses, tone TEASES, âDo you know where I might find one?â
diviinitatisâ:
Starved?? In twenty minutes? I was just checking the place out, you know thatâ there was really no use arguing with Lex. The more Colin talked, the more he felt his brain shriveling, and he was never that clever in the first place. Fuck it, letâs go. Iâm not getting a Tinder. Thatâs not the way to meet people. That wasnât the real reason, but Lex was never going to find out the real reason. Why am I not surprised that you have a friend who got banned for selling crocodiles. Thatâs not legal. And cut it out about my age. Iâm in my prime. God, he hoped not.
â âcourse it wasneâ legal,â and heâll put legal in air quotes as if thereâs any debate on the ethicality or legislation around selling baby crocodiles. âAlrighâ, alrighâ. Youâre in your prime anâ you donât need tinder. I get it,â the kidâs not making any move to head back to the car though and for him to settle so easily is SUSPICIOUS. âAnyone in there? I could help yâknow. My daâ used to take me to check out places all the time,â granted, not for the same PURPOSES, âBet we could get in ân out real easy.â This sudden offer of assistance can be broken down into two parts.Â
Point A: Heâs not giving up on the idea of being two vigilante superheroâs.
Point B: Heâd bet GOOD money there will be something to eat in there.Â
penniesfortheferrymanâ:
Kharon, is taken aback by the smile that was aimed his way, it reminded him of Persephone. Not exactly, but it had the same energy and it made him even more confident in his idea to go in with them. He nods, moving after her, allowing her to take that lead as he was here simply for support if there was something in there calling for her. Something good, then he didnât want to get in the way. That didnât stop him from putting up guards around himself, which he would extend to the other if he needed too.Â
âI agree, but some songs are lures.â He hums lowly, as if he were trying to hide his voice from anything that could be listening. His booted feet digging into the graveled ground, his amber eyes rolling over to a more gold color as he looks up at the house. @wrciteoffâ
His voice is quiet and she hears the words like a whisper promised across the sea, âHow desperate to set a lure, how achingly sad.â Treacherous too, empathy hiding the knowledge that some traps are set to kill. Hand hovers over the door, curled into a weak fist as she tries to ascertain whether it is POLITE to knock before entering. Decides it must be, there is little point in DISCRETION after all, whatever is here has called for company and must know that guests are at its door. And so the girl knocks, varnish flakes from the wood like snow fall. Is about to push but the entrance swings open on its OWN.Â
Casts a look to her companion, gaze catches on their eyes. Different somehow to how they were before, reminds her of yarrow under sunrise. Mouth opens as if to say something before the CHILL of the house hits her skin. âOh,â breath hitches and despite her better judgement she steps forward, into the house, an arm stretched out as if to REACH for whatever called. Aid it somehow. âNo, this isnât right. Itâs not lonely at all, itâs...hollow,â Stomach drops like a branch snapping under foot at the peak of a tree, âNo, itâs HUNGRY.â And just like that, she feels something reach back, hand clasping her own in a grip that STINGS like ice.Â
@penniesfortheferrymanâ
diviinitatisâ:
Huh? God, he wanted a beer. She was kind enough to make him a hot chocolate, but he really, really wanted a beer. What are you talking about? Energy? Colin had absolutely none of that at the moment, honestly. If it was spilling, it was definitely not spilling from him. Yeah, yeah Iâm fine. Just tired. Tired didnât even begin cutting it. It was the kind of exhaustion that seeped into his bones. He was greasy. Tonight was just a night where âlike shitâ didnât begin to describe how he felt. So thatâs your thing? Energy.
âItâs more than that -,â the girl begins to disagree. âJust tiredâ frays like worn jeans as an answer, can taste the BONE DEEP but she hesitates. Itâs none of her BUISINESS, not really. And Milaâs come to learn that people donât appreciate her prying, accidental or not. Falls quiet, tentative nature tangling her tongue. âI... I can read some energies or...atmospheres. But mostly I see things,â a pause as she indulges in a mouthful of cream and cocoa before continuing to answer the question, âpremonitions.â Wonât mention the proclivity for DARKNESS, talks of mortality tend to ruin a good hot chocolate and FEELS he already has enough on his mind. Instead a smile offered, delicate in its covering but sweet as cherry blossom, âAnd yours? Whatâs your thing?â

The stars are SINGING, she is sure of it. Estela is certain the stars have fallen and have settled in Astraâs eyes or are humming amongst her words. So used to being ENCHANTINGÂ she has forgotten how it feels to be captivated under someone elseâs magnitude. Every laugh comes freely and CHRIST, she had forgotten how it felt to laugh without a cost. Smile spills easily as her legs tangle with Astraâs, skin brushing skin. It is so EASY, Estela thinks, to exist in this moment away from watchful eyes and ears tucked behind walls. So easy to be when being is in Astraâs company. The stars their only audience. Her lip catches between her teeth, as she hears the softly spoken words and there is a moment where she thinks she should RETREAT. To continue is to invite the other woman into a dangerous game.Â
( But selfish creature. Fickle as ever. How could she not? )
Searches out Astraâs gaze and Estelaâs eyes lock, hidden in them is a DARE. Sheâs not sure HOW it happens or WHO moved in first. Half hopes it was herself. Although to be entirely honest, she couldnât care for either answer. Attention invested elsewhere as her hands cup the other woman's face with a tenderness lost in the PASSION of the kiss. And then an entirely smug smirk twists her lips at the sweet sound that escapes Astra, all too pleased with herself, until she is tugged sharply on top of her and hears her own breath hitch. Feels her own heartbeat thrumming. And realises she is just as entwined. Usual composure dissolves and kisses Astra until she feels like sheâs DROWNING. Isnât entirely sure that she isnât. Then slows, pulls away long enough to catch her breath, eyes still closed - thick lashes fluttering.
â You are -, â and is that a FLUSH? On the stoical Estelaâs cheeks as she struggles to gather her thoughts. Opens her eyes and swallows thickly, recomposing herself. âUtterly and entirely magnetic,â the charm that rolls from her tongue might be a retreat into that 'Estelaâ façade. An attempt to maintain composure, or rather to find some safety, afraid to EXPOSE herself. But the tremble that accompanies her words, that is REAL, that is raw.Â
  âHeavenly.â
( Such TRUTH. No matter how she tries to paint it. So unused to being sincere the sound scares her. Feels as if Astra will see right through her disguise. Feels as if she always has. )
Me queuing up four replies: but look i made u some conteeeent. daddy make u ur favourite open wide.Â

apsychometryâ:
Astra had never really spoken about her time in the foster care system beforeâŠitâs because she had been going through her teenage rebellion phase, where she was convinced that if her birth parents could not take care of her or want her, how could it be possible there were people out there who wanted her by CHOICE? However, as time went on, she realized the concept of chosen family. They were friendships, soul bonds, ones that people chose to have in their lives rather than that of blood. Those bonds were EQUALLY as valid. However, she couldnât really change the past, all she could do was look forward.Â
Her movements are careful as she sits back across from him, listening to his words with utmost care. A fire. Much like the one that burned through the building that Lex had saved her from. She kept her opinions to herself though, about the connection it meant to the accident Lex was talking about. Her heart BROKE for the boy; waking up to that sceneâŠwith both his parents dead? It must have been traumatizing. And then to be thrust into the foster care home. No wonder he was so hostile around adults. Â
Astra leans forward, gloved hand extended out and she merely rests it atop his head, giving him a warm smile. She gave him a few pats on the head. âYou speak as if youâre a middle aged man, talking about âa long time agoâ.â She chuckled. âYouâre still a kid, Lex. And it is alright to behave like one. I am proud of you, not many would have survived that and turned out as brave and lovely as you.âÂ
She dropped her hand and leaned back. âWant to know a secret?â And then she slowly began to unbind the bandages around her arm, where there were supposed to be severe burn marks. There surely had been the night of the fire, but a mere few hours later, they had disappeared. Astre revealed her bare forearm to him, devoid of any burns or even the slightest evidence of a burn. ââ Itâs gone. It healed the same night I got burned. And I am not sure why.â
Is half SCARED of the confession that had rolled from his lips or the VULNERABILITY that jerked in his chest within the immediate aftermath. A gut reaction that this, this was when the other boot would drop. But thereâs no rejection, no yelling, not even a long and uncomfortable silence that keeps the kid guessing. Finds to his surprise, that those volatile fingertips start to cool off under the table as a new feeling of SECURITY brushes through his bones like a chilled breeze. Maybe, he thinks, the world doesnât have to be so HOT all the time. Maybe, there is space for moments like this.Â
Freezes up at her words, NO ONE has ever said theyâre proud of him before. Heâs not quite sure how to respond besides a stiffness in his shoulders and a pinkness to his cheeks. Ah, to be a teenage boy receiving a compliment. The Kryptonite of any adolescent. âBrave and lovelyâ. The words stick to his skin for a moment before they roll off like rain on his own private anorak. Still, Astraâs hand feels nice as it ruffles his hair and his shoulders relax a little.Â
A secret? The kidâs no good at secrets but heâll nod all the same. Winces in advance, fully prepared for a HORRIFIC sight as she begins to unwrap her bandages. Wants to look away but feels that ever present GUILT building in his belly and stamping his eyes into place. And then - ... And then the kid lets out a long breath. Accompanied by a whistle through his teeth. Thereâs nothing, not even a scratch. Very slowly, as if processing at a different pace, the kids jaw drops, âHow?â The question slips out despite the fact Lex hears Astraâs claim that she doesnât know.Â
âIâm glad,â and the words are quiet for Lex, soft like campfire smoke rolling through the wind, âYâknow what I mean? If anyone deserves a miracle itâs you.â A miracle and maybe a hundred more. Astraâs kindness feels UNNECESSARY to him, is unused to it, feels like a choice she makes with every action. Admires that, more than he could ever find the words to articulate it. Glances up, gaze flickering with a boy scoutâs promise, âI wonât tell anyone. Swear on it.â Means ever word. Lexâs LOYALTY, once found, is impossible to shake. âAre you -...â he tries again, â Has anything like that ever happened to you before?â
diviinitatisâ:
This isnât called âstaying put,â kid. This is the opposite of staying put. Staying put means you stay in the car andâ hey! Iâm not insecure about anything! Except the patchy spots on his beard. And his acne scars. And his age. And for the recordâ Iâm forty two, not forty five.
"Yâcanât just roll the window down nâ leave me in the car. Iâm noâ a dog! Couldâve starved!" Stomach grumbles to EMPHASISE this point. âForty two, there you go. Youâve got a good,â he counts on his fingers, â..six? eight? Eight. A good eight years left in you.â Now on UNSOLICITATED advice from Lex, âYâshould get a tinder. My mate had a tinder until he got banned for selling baby crocodiles on there.â
chaoticcharmingâ:
âYes!â
Only took a few seconds for her to even consider the words, all she heard really was the offer of an animal.
Nothing else really mattered.
âCan I see it? Does it like hugs?â
âNa, wouldnât hug it. Fucker took my mates finger off the other day.â Realises this isnât a selling point and back peddles quickly, âOnly the tip of it, mind. âsides, yâcould train it or somethinâ. People train racoons all the time.â Do they? MAYBE. Probably not though.Â
i know what u are thinking !! Jamie !! u said u were going into the woods for a week !! that was May 2nd !! it is the 24th !! it has been 3 WEEKS !!
