Wren & Bow

Wren always carries his bow, which he inherited from his mother, and isn't afraid to use it!

“He’s not doing a great job, though. Everything’s a mess. People are homeless. Sure, there are lots of people who deserved what was coming to them, but compared to everyone else he hurt, they are the minority. Punishment was deserved, but to do that to an entire group of people for petty revenge?”

“Excuse you. He is doing the best he can. He wasn’t born king. He’ll fix everything I’m sure. I’m very proud of him and will never not be proud of him.”

“I think you’re the one doing the excusing,” Wren told her, his expression diluting as he realised that there was no use. “Well, he should be lucky to have a sister like you. Loyalty is a trait I respect, even if its to someone I don’t.”

Wren greets Beom happily and settled himself down with them. He was glad of the invitation. He could use some light heartedness after the day that they’d all just had.

Beom goes up to him and hugs him shyly. Stitch gasps. “Wow, he never does that.” He says excitedly.

Wren was shocked by the gesture but let his own arms hug the other back, only gently. He felt immediately protective of Beom. Perhaps he already had. He let his eyes rise to Stitch’s as it happened and smiled back. “Well, I’m glad to call him a friend now.”

“Weirdo,” Wren told him although he leaned in and kissed him, turning the one of amusement into something soft and real. He winced a little, his wound severely painful everytime he moved, although it was worth it to kiss him.

He kissed back but stopped when he winced. “Are you okay babe? Can I get you some pain meds? That might help.”

Wren leaned in and cuddled Jay as much as he could in this state. “I’ll be alright for now. I just want to stay with you. You make this all feel a lot better.”

“I look forward to it,” Wren told him. He sighed and moved over, shifting slightly to allow for room to have Jay comfortably next to him. “I know. But everything turned out okay. And it was all thanks to you. I wouldn’t be here if you hadn’t done what you’d done and I promise you, I’ll be thanking you for the rest of my life.”

“I can’t wait for that thank you. I’ll take my first thank you in the form of a kiss.” He says and pucker sup, laughing.

Wren smirked, thinking back to their first encounter, Stitch having broke something which had caught his attention. “We kept each other safe. We all need to help each other around here if we’re actually going to make some progress. Now, we all need some rest. I want you to come and find me if you ever need help. We need to work together.”

Stitch nods. “Rest with us. Beom would sleep better knowing you are by his side. He seems to like you very much to be honest. And he’s very shy.” Beom waves at Wren and says hi.

Harry had family. He had people he cared about. Wren hated the thought that entered his head. That he could somehow use this against the man. No, that was twisted. But it lingered in his head. He wanted to hurt. “Well, maybe you could try and tell your brother to do some good with his new found power. He may be a villain or whatever you guys get called, but you’re not unempathetic people, right?” He wouldn’t use this girl. He wouldn’t.

She nods. “We’re not unempathetic. We care deeply. My brother is just getting used to his power to be honest. He’s doing a great job in my opinion though.” She says cheerfully, blissfully unaware of what could be happening.

Something bad twisted in Wren’s gut. He didn’t agree with CJ. Harry could have done something good with his reign. He chose indulgence and chaos instead. Maybe that’s all he knew. But there were kids, innocent kids, some had been hurt, some were lost and alone, and others faced worse fates. These consequences weren’t acceptable. “Do you have much contact with him these days?”

“I talk to him occasionally. I’m always around. He keeps me safe from our father.” She says sadly. “He kind of hates me. My father that is.” She looks down, she hated talking about it.

“Beom is a sweet kid,” Wren told Stitch, kneeling down beside them as they ate. He noticed Stitch wasn’t eating. “Hey, Stitch. I made enough for the both of you. I know you’re just protecting your kid but you’re not going to be able to do that on an empty stomach. Please, eat something for me.”

Stitch nods and finally digs in after Beom is eating messily. “He’s a messy eater, but an amazing kid. We both like to destroy things. It’s our favorite past time.” He smiles at Wren. “Thank you for keeping us safe.”

He smiles. “When you get healed I’m probably going to jump your bones.” He jokes. “But seriously I’m so glad you’re safe. I was so worried. To death.”

Wren stirred awake to the frantic noises coming from beyond his room. His first instincts told him that it was trouble. His second told him there was conflict. He heard children. Despite his condition, he got up out of bed and limped towards the door, heading towards the noise. He let out a sigh of relief once he came into sight of what was actually happening.

“Daggers, swords, other people’s arrows, they’ve all been pointed at me the last few days. People- even kids, are just waving them around,” Wren explained, although he shut himself up. He softened his grip on his weapon. “I’m a hypocrite, apparently, but still. Tough times, I guess.”

“Yes that is true. People are getting brave. But we have to remain level headed if we want to maintain our reign. I’m proud of my brother. Very proud of him. He’s the new king.”

Wren had known what he’d said before had come from a place of anger, but seeing Jay go to that dark place was upsetting. He never wanted Jay to feel bad or angry, never wanted to be driven by hurt. “You leave him to me. You focus on contacting your friends and making sure we have enough people to keep everyone safe.” Jay was strong and could look after himself, but he didn’t want Jay risking his own life.

“Oh no. I have to get my revenge on Song. He deserves it.” He says. “I’ll teach you how to sword fight so you can have your revenge too. It’s not too hard.” He smiles. “We have plenty of people to help us fight.”

Wren smiled only a little bit as he saw Jay’s expression seemed to lighten. “This is a super crappy time for us. I’m sorry we haven’t really gotten to see each other. I’m here now, and I can’t exactly move, so you have me for a while.”

“Luckily for you, I made some stew.” Wren wasn’t exactly at home, but he used the resources he was offered and he was grateful for it. He had an admiration and a respect for Evie. He heated up some for Stitch and his child and brought it to them. “Here you go. Its my mother’s recipe. It will do lots of good for anyone who needs it. She says that’s what true warriors eat.”

He smiles gratefully and feeds Beom first. “His name is Beom. I’m not sure if I introduced him.” Beom gets his fill and then Stitch begins to eat. That’s how he always did meal times. Beom ate first, and if there was enough left for him, he ate.”

“Please don’t call me a hero.  I want no part in the sides you people draw around here. True heroes don’t flaunt a title like that around. It comes through their actions. And torturing the kids of a generation because they were bad is nothing heroic.” Wren’s guard slipped a little bit. He didn’t care for the actions of these ‘villains’ but he got where they were coming from, at least. They hadn’t been born villains. These ‘heroes’ are what made them like that. “Its nice to meet you too. Yes, that’s me. And I respect the way your acting right now. Sorry if I seem a little cagey. Things haven’t been too pleasant since the big change, you know. A lot of weapons in my face these days.”

“Okay non hero.” She says, laughing. “I won’t call you a hero anymore. You’re just Wren.” She smiles at him. “I’m trying to keep my cool. I don’t want anyone hurt that doesn’t deserve it. Weapons in your face? What do you mean?”

Wren went through half the contents of the bottle in one go and felt much better once he’d handed it back. “That was disgusting,” he’d said, “but it hit just the spot.” He settled back into the pillows and took hold of Jay’s hand. “I really appreciate what you did for me back there. It was brave of you.”

“I will always rescue you. I’m going to kill Song. He’s insane. He’s got a good life now and he threw it away to be evil. I hate him. I always felt sorry for him since he was kidnapped but I’m afraid I don’t have any pity for him left.”

“Well, how about once things die down I can help you get back?” Wren suggested. Maybe Stitch would have some supplies. But then again, it was probably looted, if not sunk to the surface, by now. He didn’t want to tell that to Stitch though. He eventually got back to Evie’s castle. “Are you both okay?” He couldn’t help but keep asking.

“That would be lovely.” Stitch knew his beloved ship probably didn’t stand a chance, but he didn’t want to think of that. “We’re perfect, just need some food. Do you have anything to eat?” He says as he surveys his makeshift home.

But the protection will come in handy till I can get home safe.”

“I’m exploring areas I wasn’t previously allowed in dude. Chill out. You’re uptight, although I guess if you’re a hero I can see why. But I swear I won’t hurt you. I know what it’s like to be hurt and I want no part in that.” She smiles. “It sounds lovely. Very lovely. It’s nice to meet you….oh Wren! Jay’s boyfriend! I’ve heard of you two.”
