@scissorrluv
“Y’know, I’m glad we did this... Together.” She stands side by side with her devilish companion. A bloodied, bone carved knife rests in her grip as she stares down the corpse of the man lying on the muddied, cement basement floor. “So...” She twists the weapon back and forth, reflecting off the dim beams from the overhead bulb. “What didja wanna do with the body?”
❝ Are you going to just sit there? ❞
She stares at her for a long pause. “Why, yes. Yes, I am.” The only body part moving are her lips. “I’m not signing SHIT until my lawyer gets here.”
❝ It always ends in blood. ❞
“Damn straight it does.” There was no tip-toeing around it. Lydia’s little pets always ended in a pool of blood. She accepted that fact by now. “Don’t say he didn’t deserve it. He was a CREEP. A total jerk.” Hands settle on her hips. Her discontent huff is aimed towards the woman. “Grab his legs. We’re gonna put him in the Dumpster... Right where he belongs.”

“Thanks for bringing me along,” she says once the motel room is unlocked with the key given to them by the woman with the peach colored beehive at the check-in counter. “I kinda needed...” Her doe eyes travel the room’s interior. “An escape.” She plops her suitcase down on the bed. It bounces slightly as the springs squeak. “...So.” She rubs her hands together and quirks her brow. “What are we gonna do on this trip, huh?” [ YOU WANT BAD THINGS TO HAPPEN. YOU’RE NAUGHTY! ] She bites the inside of her cheeks. She refused to argue with the voices right now.
@paternall
Her head shoots up as she lays eyes upon the wandering man. “Jeez... You scared me,” she proclaims with a panting huff. She tucks a stray strand of hair behind her ear, brow furrowed at the man upon packed snow. “You from around here?” Lydia Floyd was staying in her winter cabin up in the snowy woods just five miles away from the bookstore that shelved her latest novel. “Never... Never seen you before.” She’s breathless. [ THANK GOD HE CAN’T SEE THE BLOOD UNDER YOUR GLOVES, HUH, LYDS? ] “Y’know, there’s people who hunt in these woods.” [ PEOPLE LIKE YOU??? ] The ringing in her ear the voices... It was becoming irritating. She thought the trip was supposed to calm her nerves. “You should be careful. You could get mistaken for a deer or something...”
“the problem with me is my problem with YOU.”

a careful shrug of the shoulders. joey doesn’t have USE for much material stuff. they’re real tempted to tell her she can just keep everything, and they’ll just do the stealing for SHITS & GIGGS, no charge. but —-… chocolate piques their interest. so much so that they’ll bite down on the urge to correct her. ‘ —- what kinda chocolate ? ‘
A silken smirk curls against pearly whites. She’s caught his attention. “Oh, caramel, vanilla creme, raspberry, lime meringue, classic milk... You name it. There’s even an assorted box in the shape of a heart.” She rises from her chair, folding her arms across her chest. “If you want to steal my book back for me, you can come with me to my room and pick out your candy.” She turns on her heel. “Or you can forget about the whole thing and I’ll find some other kid to do it for me.” And with that, she deliberately begins walking away, flipping her long, honeyed stands over her hospital robe.

❝ yeah– yeah, i can do that. ❞ oliver recognized her… she was a somebody. his mind just couldn’t recollect where she was from or what she’d done. oh, she’s the writer! he hid the recognition so he wouldn’t look like some kind of crazed fan. but, damn she was a good writer. ❝ when would you want me to start? ❞ watching her carefully, he was honestly terrified she might fall over at any moment. and the uncertainty of his ability to catch her scared him even more. both fast response time and careful movements would have to be enacted as to not rip a recently healed scar open on his chest.
“Well, would you like to discuss payment and any other job inquiries back up in my apartment? I was going to go to the gas station on the corner for a pack of cigarettes and some pop, but...” She forces a tight smile and pretends that she isn’t a crazed addict with delusions scratching at the walls of her mind. “That can wait.” She places her hand on the rail, beginning to climb the steps. “I’d also like to show you around the apartment. If you’re going to be cleaning in and taking care of things, you’ll need to know every nook and cranny.” [ YES, LYDS. GET THE FORMALITIES OUT OF THE WAY SO YOU HAVE MORE TIME TO BOOZE AND SNORT COKE. ] She cringes. The voices are coming back, but not as strongly. The medicine may take longer to work to its full capacity. She should have doubled her dosage.

‘ shit. my bad. ‘ schizophrenic. SURE. they can work with that. joey simply looks at her, musters up the most serious EXPRESSION that they can and —- ‘ are you making fun of m - me ? ‘ oh. well. maybe playing patient in asylum is gonna pay off. ‘ uh. how so ? ‘
Lips curl into a pompous smirk. “Well, what would you like?” She drapes one leg over the other, leaning back serenely into the chair. She gave off the air of some Don Draper executive coercing a lower staff employee into something messy. “I’ve got money. Plenty of it. You could definitely use some cash on the way outta here. I got books. Rare ones, too. And a bunch of pills. You see, I get a lot of gifts from my adoring fans. Just last week, a girl from Idaho sent me a silk, Chinese robe complete with a paper fan with teal and turquoise dragons painting the flaps. Charming, hm?” She snaps her fingers together and leans forward. “How ‘bout candy. I’ve got boxes of chocolates I’m bound to never finish. You like candy, little boy?”

❝ you’re welcome.. ❞ he gives a quirk of a smile, still somewhat cautious for her since she’s clearly in a dreamy fog still. a quick glance over her deemed her normal enough. dark eyes flicker back up to her as she thinks aloud the strange alternatives that her mind came up with until she got his name correct. ❝ yeah, i have a part time job as a barista— lydia, right? ❞
“Lydia. Correct.” She sways forward, blinking harshly. She’s trying to collect her train of thought. “Well, if you’re looking for some side work, I’d love some help around my apartment.” After getting sent from the ‘hospital’, her doctor suggested she stay somewhere quiet and small... So she picked the Harper Dock Apartments by the lake. However, her pride got in the way of her rehabilitative process, and she just had to rent the biggest apartment unit in the complex. “I want someone to clean my home for me. I can be a real slob. And, uh...” She scratched her forehead. “Someone to run a few errands for me. I’m very busy.” [ YES, LYDIIIIIA~ BUSY WITH YOUR PILLS, AND COKE, AND DRAFT FOR YOUR LATEST NOVEL YOU HAVEN’T TOUCHED! ]

they narrowly missed each other. he turned to watch the rest of her descent and realized she was so absorbed in her own mind he might have ran into her. it’s then that he notices that a few steps below, a giant chunk of wood was missing and oliver was scared she’d step in it. ❝ hey, watch out or you’re gonna break your ankle. ❞ when she didn’t hear him, he ran down after her and stopped on the step below her so she would have to pay attention.
❝ i said— you about broke your ankle.. be careful. ❞ he points to the step so she would understand what she was talking about.
“...Oh.” His voice fades through the static. His last word is left ringing. [ CAAAREFUL. ] She deliberately steps safely onto the cement floor. “Thanks.” She shoves her hands into the ratted pockets of her beige cardigan that clashes oh, so badly with her long, navy skirt. Magazines and critics were always bashing her fashion style because they couldn’t find anything wrong with her writing. “You’re, uh... You’re...” She snaps her fingers as she tries to recollect his name. “Oleg? Omnivore... Oscar?” [ IT’S OLIVER. ] She mentally thanks the whisper in the back of her mind. “...Oliver,” she states with a warm smile. “Oliver, do you have a job?”

“My meds make me shaky... Which makes me a piss-poor pickpocketer.” [ SAY THAT THREE TIMES FAST. ] Her brow quirks and she can feel her lips curve into a half-simper. “So... You’re some sort of schizophrenic.” Doe eyes pan left to right. “There any ghosts here now?” A dark chuckle lilts from her lips. “Listen... If you’re any good at picking pockets, maybe you can snag me some cigarettes.” A narcissistic little smile plays on her tiers. “I can make it worth your while.”

“Of course they’re not,” she says rather bitterly. “I was hoping you were someone’s brother or boyfriend. Outsiders are allowed to have cigarettes on them. Insiders like you and me are not.” She adjusts her position in the uncomfortable chair. She tucks a strand of honey blonde behind her ear before returning her gaze to his. “What are you in for, kiddo?”
