clare watched eli’s movements carefully. she wondered if she knew whoever those clothes belonged to. for some strange reason that was the one thought she was fixated on. shaking her head clear of those thoughts she tried to bring her mind back to the original reason she’d come over. “darcy…was supposed to be in town. she called me and told me she had a lay over in toronto before heading out on some new journey with the group to india and she never showed.” clare shrugged her shoulders, leaning against the couch and sighing. “i guess her flight changed. but part of me feels like she never even planned on showing up at all.” she replied honestly, her voice low as she looked down at the ground. she’d always had a difficult relationship with her older sister, but the past years had been worse given everything she’d been going through both personally and with family. but darcy just could never find the time for her.
"you really think she'd stoop that low?" eli questioned, his brows furrowing at the thought. he'd known clare for quite a while now, and darcy always seemed to be absent from the edwards household. sitting on the edge of the couch, he tried to read clare, but he knew something else was bothering her. first drew screwed her over, then darcy, and now seemingly- he had too. when the shower stopped in the background, eli peeked over his shoulder a bit sheepishly. "can I make you coffee, maybe tea?" he asked a bit hesitantly, getting up from his place. he truly cared about clare, but now he worried he was the one hurting her again.
