Wrote a lot today! (“today” (it’s like 1:30am)) Like 3 ½ pages. About half this morning, and then the rest now. I think it will go faster for a while (when I actually get around to doing it, that is) because today I finally said ‘screw it, I’ll jump ahead to the stuff I actually know what I want to do with’ which (un)coincidentally, is stuff I’m a lot more excited about. The in-between stuff needs to be planned out ahead of time it seems, before I try to really write any of it. 'Cause I’m clueless on these procedures and structures and things I was trying to work within (not that they’re real- I have to make them up) and I don’t even know what the point is really yet other than transition and character development and building a good basis for the shit I’m writing now to go down. So yeah, we’ll see if I can make good on my resolution this year to get something significant done, writing-wise. G'night all!
Oh right. I did NOT win that contest btw, but then, my hopes weren’t THAT high to begin with. I think it’s a good story, but I also think other people can write cool stories too. Just had to wait and see how things shook out. And looking at the things they said they looked at/for, I realized that this was definitely not the right story for this contest! I couldn’t have known that beforehand though, so no regrets. The story that won was pretty good, but I think my concept/premise was a lot cooler!
Just wrote page 69
Just wrote barely over 4 pages! I only wish the urge hadn’t hit me half an hour after midnight. I have places to be tomorrow.
Anyway it feels good to do some writing again. I think submitting to that contest kind of psyched me out for a while. I definitely won’t be looking at Project Sh any more until I hear the final word on that. But yeah, hopefully I can get into a groove with Project S. I’m getting excited about where the plot is finally getting, even if I haven’t really included any of my social/world building “filler”. I need to work out the details of how this group’s structure and things work, so I have the proper context and backdrop for the people we (including me) need to get to know. Not that anything is super detailed or thought out at this point. Project S started out as a premise I’d thought of, and I decided to go ahead and just write it, without any planning. (I do love that first scene, though) Because I was having a lot of trouble being willing to get any of the things I was planning thoroughly out of my head at all. Kind of like how writing it on paper was supposed to help me stop going back to edit every sentence ever constantly all the time (which I totally think worked! as much as it ever will, anyway).
Anyway sorry for the wall of text. Just thoughts. I’m tired. I should go to bed now. Good night, anybody who reads this.
damn video games
Okay I submitted it last night (with about 7 minutes to go!) and now I’m actually really excited to go back to Project S! (Because dwelling on Project Sh now that I’ve sent it in is a REALLY BAD IDEA) So yay! Guess that’s it for Project Sh and the contest until I hear something back.
Okay yeah I finished the first complete draft a few days ago, then went over it again briefly and now I need to get select friends/family to actually read it and give me feedback so I can go over it again with other perspectives in mind and stuff and I still need to write the letter and it needs a real title and I’m just generally kind of freaking out because THE DEADLINE IS ALMOST HERE
Tag Hub
This post will serve as a way to find/access all of my different tags on here.
Actually today and last night may have set a really good precedent for motivating me to write in the future.
Bam. Just finished the ending. Now I just need to type it up tomorrow, then I can spend a couple days editing before I submit it.
Been working off and on (though mostly off- until TONIGHT! Bam.) on Project Sh. Using physical pencil and paper makes me feel like I’m under so much less pressure to be GOOD, which has really helped with this whole writing-an-ending thing. Still not done, though.
Did some work on Project Sh earlier. There's a contest I'm toying with the idea of entering it in so my focus has officially switched over from Project S for the time being.
Oh yeah. Last night I got to the bottom of page 63.
Screw it, writing is now one of my dailies. At the bottom of page 61!
When did I get onto the top of page 58??
Ack!
