Love is hard. Because oftentimes, my mind conjures images of hurt, pain, and suffering. This is why it is hard for me to get close and to believe that the future can defy my past. Still, i toil daily to become a better man, to undo my old associations, and to give, and receive, all the love that I can. It's taking me time. Taking me hours to sometimes sit alone and deconstruct all these inner walls I have. But I'm getting there. And I'm preparing to give you every ounce of my soul.

“For what?” it snickered, staring at me curiously.
My past always thought I despised it. That I fled without gleaning its wisdom. But I took so much from the struggles it granted me.
“If it weren’t for you,” I continued, “I wouldn’t be the man I am today. And for that, I am grateful. I do not harbor any rancor toward you. Nor do I think you’re evil. I have compassion toward who I once was. I did my best, and I am proud that I have risen from my struggles.
