yk at the time i wrote it down it really was jus rosamel n i goin back n forth n gettin a lil short w each other outta sheer frustration towards our own selves. later i started thinkin bout it more, n originally it was gonna make it be him n koresh in rehab bc it was obvious but it made no sense whatsoever. bc then, rosamel is jus a kid, he doesn’t feel okay without drugs n if he does he’s already told himself its farce. so im thinkin its after leslie dies, rose falls harder and deeper into his alcoholism, then kinda picks himself up— in due time— bc he doesn’t wanna be leslie. he’s scared sober, he’s almost thirty, a lot of maturing has been done n he’s recognizing it’s time to get sober— but he still feels very fucking stuck as sobriety tends to make one feel at first. i’m thinkin it’s robyn he’s most likely to have the convo w, maybe his very special dear friend gretchen, i forget if yall met her n to what extent if so. but she’s also an alcoholic n does a lotta blow, and it hasn’t hurt her yet. so if that convo was w her, it would be a lil tougher, it likely wouldn’t feel like the progress rose needs— but maybe that’s exactly why rose has it w her, as a subconscious way of telling himself it’s okay to stay stuck

so anyways long story short, probably gretchen

i wanna chew on my characters. they’re all such different representations of neurodivergence, mental/physical illness n trauma. they’re my little psych studies and they’re gonna be miserable bout it

#AUGHHHH #i do like to sorta call out how ppl treat traumatized ppl specially w koresh n leslie #how leslie’s trauma is (in general but not always) more digestible n he’s jus everyone’s sweet lil guy #(which is problematic alone on the grounds that it can become borderline infantilizing #which sucks bc leslie sometimes needs help but doesn’t wanna risk feeling demeaned)#koresh is loud and brash and rude and has built his career off of “don’t you dare look away from me i’m fucking disgusting”#and so he’s the asshole he’s too difficult he needs to get over himself #and the thing is while these two represent very different manifestations and treatments of similar traumas #and represent “this vs that”#they love each other n take care of each other n trust one another above all else #leslie knows koresh is scared and grieving and it’s manifesting in anger and violent outbursts #koresh knows leslie isn’t quiet bc he wants to be or that he’s so sweet bc he loves everyone and that leslie’s jus tryna make himself small #so nobody will hurt him and he hopes that he can love everyone out of being a threat #AGHHHHHHHHH
