Headcannon that as a young child (6 to 8 years old) , v!Abolish would constantly pester the house servants to play hide and seek with him. The servants would look at this tiny child eagerly following them around and tugging at their clothes and cannot help but oblige.
Problem is that Abolish can disappear without a trace, and during hide and seek that child is Veylocked In. The kid climbs up and crawls into the most outrageously op hiding spot. 45 minutes into this singular game and the servants are panicking over having lost the literal heir to the family name and house.
Meanwhile, Abolish's parents had just come back from a shared mission only to see a bunch of scrambling servants frantically searching for their son.
Alaric and Reiah, as seasoned hunters of potentially deadly creatures that can turn invisible, instantly clock where Abolish is hiding but play along for another 5 to 10 minutes before picking up and dusting their son off like it's nothing. They make lil' Abolish formally apologise to the servants for giving all of them prolonged heart attacks. Future games of hide and seek are only played when at least one of his parents are located within premises.
So when his parents frantically yell at him to get inside and hide, Abolish runs to the one place in the manor he knows only his parents can find him.
Many hours later, a stressed out and grieving Morcant steps into The Veylocke Residence already fearing that the youngest of them had fallen to the same fate as his parents. He's a couple paces in when he hears faint crying from above. Morcant looks up to see a young boy, his hair and coat camouflaged with the shadows and dark wood, sitting balanced on the rafters, his tears glistening in light from Morcant's lamp.
Morcant carefully carries the sniffling child down and checks him for splinters before handing him off to the church orphanage with a heavy heart.
