Currently fangirling over my very own Doctor Who x Yuri on Ice crossover fanfic from 2017. That girl can write stories, tf 🥹😍😭 The grammar errors are eclipsed by her storytelling skills. Such an immersive experience, it feels like watching a film in my mind. Her grammar sucked, but I love her for that; the absolute disrespect of this language committed by my 24-year-old self earns my respect and genuine appreciation.

It's getting tiring that some people think I'm always acting weird and so unfunny when I "suddenly" make everything about politics, and they always try to humble me when I "get too serious suddenly". First off, I'm sorry that you thought it was an act and that I was unfunny. I 𝘢𝘮 weird; let's get the facts straight, okay? And my humour was forged in the core of a dying star for the first three decades of my life; that's where I grew up abused and severely traumatised. We are not the same. Second, I'm sorry you've been so sheltered and comfortable with constantly looking away from what I've been through and ignoring what I've always yapped about that my being political seems like a new character development to you. Take all the time you need to process this. Wait until you hear about how I survived being ostracised by my classmates in uni at 18 and bullied in the workplace as an adult, though. But I will let you process this first. Don't feel rushed. I understand this is too much for you. Third, do you live in real life? You think I'm pulling stand-up comedy in front of you? The fuck? The thing I "get too serious suddenly" about is the material conditions of real people in real life around us; where the hell do you think we are? Look, I get it. I get that you're disappointed. To be fair, though, it's not my fault that I have rizz, okay? I know my presence unsettles you, and you're captivated when I talk. Why do you think I was ostracised in uni and bullied at work as a 26-year-old? Also, wait until you hear I was also active in da'wah in uni. What the hell did you do in your youth that you got no organisational drama to that extent and my politics caught you off guard? God, it must've been so boring. I'm attractive until you realise I have a functional brain and a sound mind, is that it? And it's not my fault you can't help but rely on a "hijabi Muslim woman stereotype" and expect me to gentleparent you, while I won't hesitate to use my hijab pin as a self-defence weapon and scream bloody murder if you do so much as breathe wrong in my presence. My entire life is literally what "don't let them figure out your next move" looks like.

Eid al-Adha is in a few days. Two years ago, I could afford a goat for qurban. I could even afford that along with therapy, meds, food, and bills. Now I don’t know if I’ll even be able to eat next week while also making sure I still have enough left for mutual aid. But I have a roof over my head and I’m smart and resourceful, so people keep telling me to be grateful, that I should stop being selfish and manipulative, and that I should stop begging. I 𝘢𝘮 grateful for the roof over my head, which I was able to pay the yearly rent for thanks to mutual aid. Poverty and disability don’t reflect my character or intelligence. How is something finite like money or usefulness a measure of someone’s morals and worth? It’s my finances and physical health that are experiencing bankruptcy and deterioration, not my morality or dignity. And clearly, they only measure productivity and someone's humanity and worth by profit, credit scores, net worth—and market demand, which ironically does want my skills and experiences, just not me as a whole person. I’m still productive. I am way more productive now than I ever was as a cog in a capitalist death machine. I’m just not useful or usable for corporations anymore. Perhaps those who keep telling me to be grateful and to stop being a beggar and a manipulative bitch can also contribute to mutual aid? How does the saying go? “Put your money where your mouth is”?

Measuring the worth of your contribution to liberation struggles based on impact is capitalistic. You won't see the end of it unless you realise the act of measuring worth based on output at all is the product of capitalism, the very rot that still colonises even your psyche. What matters is you did it.

If all you've ever done so far helped some people or even just one person, one life experienced that a better, humane alternative is possible, you've become one of the nodes through which resistance takes shape, liberation comes through, and movement lingers. Movement shouldn't be halted just because one person changes or disappears. Movement dies when nobody resists anymore.

What matters is you did it. No matter how small you think it is. You did it.

Some people do indeed just want to criticise the table manners of the starving person, instead of asking why that person is starved and how to stop the starvation. All the while, they have their boots on the starving person’s neck.
