“I think I would rather just have a Coke,” Sybill replied, half-ordering, half-talking to Glenda, looking around with wide eyes. Parties were never really her scene. They never seemed to end well, either for her or for other people, but she decided to indulge for her former roommate. She even promised to try to keep her predictions to a minimum.
“Happy Birthday, Glenda.” She smiled at her. “I think you will like this year’s gift.”
“Oh that’s definitely cool, too,” said Glenda, giving Sybill a wide grin. “Thank you! I’m so glad you made it; it wouldn’t have been the same without you.” Then, a pause, in which she pulled the other in a quick hug. “Really? Can you give me a bit of a spoiler as to why?”
