The ??? Fansub Project

Fast subs to force people to watch Takarazuka. Studying while subbing. You may use them for streams, as long as they're not paid events, and credits are kept (for collabs, consult each of the people involved!!!). Do not upload them with public videos. Do not put videos using them in public playlists. Do not use them in any way it can be found by people, because if they can, so can whoever owns the rights.

'110 Years of Takarazuka Love Songs' (Takarazuka Hyakujuunen no Koi no Uta) subs

You can usually foresee the difficulty of a show from when you watch it, but this one fooled me. It's easy to understand the overall but all the poems in classical Japanese threw me off. Plus, the difficult Japanese becomes a plot point, so... yes, this was hard.

Unlike what I've been doing, I decided to insert notes here and there. I almost deleted all of them while revising though.

It's still an interesting show to watch from all optics, so I really wanted to share it. Moreover, I'm not sure how much the other translators still want to do works from this Soragumi period.

There are some sensitive topics in the story, like the Second War (I'd have removed this scene but maybe it's got meaning to the Japanese fans that escapes me), and death.

I tried to do my research because the main characters are the poets Fujiwara no Teika and Princess Shikishi, but the Internet told me a different story from here, as usual with Takarazuka plays... Princess Shikishi's poems, however, are worth your time!

If anything, we've got all the nihonmono bangers playing, not that you'd need subs for them. It was wonderful to hear Hana Fubuki Koi Fubuki again! It reminded me I have to release those subs one day...

And here it is, Ari and Uta's Grand Theater debut! This show is so cute, even if the plot is all over the place, I just had to translate it and share with anyone I could! I do like some of Oono Takuji's work, but this one positively surprised me. The songs too are just so lovely, even if not really memorable. If you need a hug to your heart, this is a good pick!

I'd just like to know what the 22 on the car means... Please, someone figure it out!!!!!!!!

'Danza Serenata (2025)' subs

Not the best show to be restaged in my opinion. On the other hand, even if Ari is probably the last of the top stars I would have chosen to play the main character, they did fix some issues I had with the 2012 cast. It's even weird to see that what used to be the nibante role in 2012 went to Aomi Sario, but that it made much more sense this way. Taiki Hayate is also so lovely in it that I can't even remember how Yurika was in 2012. And the star of this change, Moeko. It's her first work in Hoshigumi since the transfer and her role becoming the nibante one was such a fitting decision you almost forget it didn't use to be so. I'm still not sure why her character was so fixated on Ari's, but that was also fun to watch lol

A small warning, by the way, I had no idea how to romanize these names. I don't even have a country, this play seems to take place in a mix of Spain and Portugal but with a bit of Italy, and sometimes even others more to the east of Europe. Just for a second I thought they were coming from wine names, but my theory was proved wrong the next second. It reminds me a bit of Melancholique Gigolo in that aspect. So maybe anything goes. I'm aware of the official English translation, but by experience, they don't always reflect what the author really wanted. So I used my gut. Just ctrl+h the whole thing if you didn't like any of my choices.

Timed to the Bluray. Thank you for everyone's help with this specific project, but of course I'm grateful for all the help always. It was just that this one was even harder with the closed captions taking a while to air.

There were just a few changes from the 2012 version, so you can use these subs as some sort of script if you prefer to watch that version.

I watched this show initially on a whim and completely fell in love with it and Rika. It's a fun and wacky taidan show for her too.

I've also never subbed a show that had so many script and costume differences between the DVD, and Osaka and Tokyo senshuuraku recordings

These days have been a lot, so I ended up taking too long to release this.

Notice that the subs were timed to the Sky Stage broadcast, and not the Bluray. With simple retiming you should be able to sync them to your Bluray copy, but let me know if you have any trouble!

This was an unexpected show to me. It could have been crazier considering the visuals, but all of them are SO GOOD in their roles. All my love to them!

Also, Agachin seems to have a Midas touch because all her musumeyaku leads become top musumeyaku. It's so funny! (They were just two, but still!)

Takarazuka Revue Company has announced a complete ban on photography and videography within areas managed by their parent company Hankyu Corporation, including the irimachi, demachi, and okeiko-machi at both the Takarazuka Grand Theater and the Tokyo Takarazuka Theater on March 31st, 2026. Here’s the English translation of the announcement - “Regarding Measures Against Unauthorized Filming and Photography of Takarazuka Revue Affiliates, Including Performers March 31, 2026 Regarding the filming and photography of performers near dressing room entrances and similar areas, we previously did not prohibit these activities as long as they were for personal commemorative use and storage, and not intended for public disclosure. Unfortunately, we have confirmed many cases that deviate from this scope. Consequently, we are establishing the following measures regarding unauthorized filming and photography of Takarazuka Revue affiliates, including performers. We will continue to improve the environment so that everyone involved in the operation of the Takarazuka Revue can focus on creating better stage productions with peace of mind. We ask for your kind understanding and cooperation.

• Unauthorized filming and photography (photos and videos) of Takarazuka Revue affiliates, including performers, is prohibited within areas managed by our company (Hankyu Corporation).

• This applies to the premises of the Takarazuka Grand Theater and the Tokyo Takarazuka Theater (including both indoor and outdoor areas, as well as areas open or closed to the public. At the Takarazuka Grand Theater, this includes the open space in front of the stage door/dressing room entrance).

'Michelangelo' Shinjin Kouen Version subs

This was my actual goal!!! My yearly Ranju Tomu release is among us all!

Miwacchi (Aine Harei) got the nibante role for it, but you get to see Eritan in a very fitting character. Plus, Mattsu gets to sing great songs! But I'll be honest, my favorite shinko role was Yuuma Rin's in the last third (she's got a smaller one before). She's sooo good there! Her chemistry with Tomu is excellent! It made me think of the type of interactions they got when Tomu was top star.

I rarely work on more than one version, but for some reason I felt like I should try to do it. Maybe because it was Tamo's taidan show, and the script only really made sense in that context. Plus, how can you not love the three together one last time? Tamo, Midori and Charlie.

In the wildest but most welcome way, Takarazuka just announced today the realease in VOD of their Castlevania adaptation on BeyondLive with subtitles in several languages, starting today !! (More specifically, their Symphony of the Night adaptation with a few references to other parts of the game lore) Considering the first and last time Takarazuka put a show on BeyondLive for international audience was 2 years ago for their James Bond show this is like,,,, insane (positive). I remembered very little of this story, but there's a lot to appreciate in the adaptation. It's a different director but the stage reminded me a little of AkaKuro, not sure if we have a case of same assistant or just inspiration or even just me overthinking it. AkaKuro is still far superior as a Top Star show should be, though. Expect a nice show. The siennes were also well cast, which has been rare lately lol Ari is super cute as Pip, and we have RuriHana and Kanon rocking their parts. Also, pretty outfits! It's the kind of zuka show that could have been more but it could have been worse too.

I'm not a part of the fandom, and it's been a long time since I watched the anime series, but I still decided to follow the translations in the fandom wikis for the series. Thus, you will see different names on the projection they have on stage, and they will probably be due to those differences.

Also I must thank all those who were there to help me whenever I didn't understand something from the lore. Above all, credits to Winwin for proofereading. Any mistakes still there, they're surely my fault.

State of Things and A Question

How is everyone? I hope everyone is doing great. Here is what is coming up:

The Legend of Galactic Heroes has been translated and timed and revised, but since I had a volunteer for that, it's now with a proofreader.

Actually Singing Lovebirds has been with the same proofreader for maybe a year now, but I'll try to make sure LOGH doesn't take as long lol

I'm almost finished with the first draft of Rays of Dawn, so that should released within this year.

As for future projects, I still want to sub the Shinjin Kouen version of Michelangelo, as I mentioned in a previous post. Plus, I also want to do Ari's Danza Serenata, though it looks like I'll have to do it by ear as I haven't been able to find the script for the 2012 version. *wink wink to whoever owns a copy*

However, that all might take some time. For a while I've noticed I may have reached a point where I need to take a break. Maybe it was all the pressure I felt with LOGH, maybe it was all that's been happening in IRL this year, maybe I just embraced too many projects. I mean, so many shows out there, I NEED them all!!!! But yeah, looks like I need to be more patient.

In any case, and since it's been a while since I last asked this, I'll start my little break with this question for you guys: What's the Takarazuka show you'd like to see translated?

Like before, I don't mean translated by me, just in general. Who knows if some other translator might stumble upon this? State your wishes!

I finished Sherlock Holmes 2 some time ago, and the first one's done now! The stories aren't linked, so it doesn't matter if you only watch one of them, or both in the opposite order.

The case shown at the beginning of the play, The Adventure of the Dancing Men, is an actual story written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as one of 13 stories in the cycle published as The Return of Sherlock Holmes in 1905. It's available online if you're interested in reading the original.

There's a couple of lines in the songs that I couldn't hear clearly, so the translations for those are based on the lyrics in the Korean and Chinese versions.
