âMaybe I did who knows. You donât have the guts to do that, youâre too nice.â It wasnât hard to realize the change in mood from when she first saw him outside the venue until now where whatever silence fell upon them had felt much more comfortable. Jayson appreciated the fact that despite all thatâs happened and all the time thatâs passed, they could still enjoy each otherâs company. She just wished that she could properly express how she still felt about him and how much it hurts having to be so cordial at times. âYou better, she may be small but she had one might fist and you shall be the sorriest of peasants if she feels you havenât properly paid respect.â Even Hope had asked about Theo every once and a while which served to further drive in the fact that she ruined yet another great thing in her life. As they stopped at the light, her gaze met his, her brown hues easily becoming lost in his. âCareful Theo, you keep looking at me like that and who knows whatâll happen.â She teased all the while wondering what exactly would happen. âI donât know how you survive all the hours where people arenât appauding you.â
He opened his mouth to argue and then promptly shut it. Alright, so he wasnât an ass and ironically the same could be said in regards to the girl beside her. It wouldâve been so easy to get angry at her, hell maybe it would be easier on him if he just resented her. But here he was, still infatuated and still jumping at the chance to be in her life again in any way that he can. So there were times when he tried to push for more than just friends again and Jaysonâs complied. It wasnât enough by all means, but it was something and as horrible as it is to think, he expected those one too many drunken hookups. In fact, here he was again hoping to at least be close with her physically if it really will never be the same between them again. As fleeting as these kinds of moments were, it was almost enough. Isnât he supposed to live with that? âYour dearest Hope is a strong one. As they say, though she may be tiny, she is fierce.â And there was that, too. Her daughter. Her daughter that has started to see Theo more often and who he himself was starting to adore. Now that should have complicated it, or should have been the deal breaker entirely, but it only reiterated how much Theo still wanted to be in Jayâs life. âLike what? I have no idea what youâre talking about.â Except he knew exactly what he was doing. He smiled softly at her for another moment before turning his eyes back to the road when the light turned green. âI donât survive, duh. What was that episode of Glee? The girl who said I need applause to live. Uh, me? Same?â
