Treatment Update

The film opens on Hayden keeping a lookout as Gabe nervously crouched over a shelf of chips. He doesn’t want to steal from the store but Hayden pressures him into it. As he places some chips into his bag, the store manager is deep asleep at the counter. Gabe slowly zips up his bag and slowly walks to the exit, Hayden jogs past casually, accidentally knocking over a shelf and waking up the manager who catches the two red handed.

The two run out of the store and dart into an alleyway to narrowly avoid the manager who runs past looking for them. Gabe breathes out a sigh of relief and Hayden laughs and then starts plotting his next scheme, wrapping his arm around Gabe to strong arm him into his next ploy. Gabe pushes back and refuses, he says he can’t risk his college scholarship if anyone caught wind that he was causing trouble but Hayden makes fun of him. He calls him a nerd, a goody two shoes, shoving him and Gabe shrinks against each push.

Gabe ,in retaliation, calls him a vandal, a no good nobody and that what everyone says is right, he’s got no future and just wants to drag everyone down with him. Hayden tells him to leave already, to ditch him already and leave him on his own again. From the commotion, the manager finds them and the two of them make run for it, Hayden jumps the fence but Gabe is slow and struggles, as the manager charges up, Hayden looks back, he looks forward at his escape but turns back and pulls Gabe over. The manager moans in frustration, tells the two that they aren’t worth his time and turns back.

Gabe thanks Hayden but he just shrugs it off, Hayden apologises for dragging him into these and confesses that he just wants to spend more time with his best friend before he leaves. Gabe offhandedly invites Hayden to go to college with him, that he might need a roommate to save on money. Hayden perks up and accepts, asking if Gabe wants to leave a final marker before they leave and hands him a spray paint can. The two leave an alleyway as a mural of two best friends is seen on the walls of the alley.

World Description

Within the story, there are 2 main locations, the Corner store and the alley.

The Corner store

A slightly run down corner store within the streets of New York, it has once bright but. Now muted signs, a wide selections of snacks and drinks just ready to be snagged and a strict and angry manager at the helm.

The Alleyway

A darker and dumper change of scenery, it leads to a fenced off dead end, the two are. Forced to confront the manager. The alley is dark and threatening at first, as they’re forced to face the consequences of their actions but as the 2 reconcile and decide to work together regardless of what other people say, it starts to lighten up.

Glen is a rebellious individual, often ditching class to get up to his antics and dragging Hayden into them. He's built quite the reputation and often receive glares from his peers and adults around him. As much of a tough front he puts up, the glares and rumours have worn him down, especially when it comes to the one person who's stood by him and that he's holding him back from a great life to stay in the pits with him.

Hayden is top of his class but often hangs around with his best friend Glen. Often times parents, teachers and other students attempt to separate Hayden from Glen because of his potential as their school valedictorian but they still haven’t found success as of yet. He an empathetic individual so knowing Glen’s position and how people often badmouth or look down on him and the possible lonely life he could’ve have is painful and he does his best to prevent that.

Story Treatment

Two friends, Glen and Hayden, are the delinquents of their small town as they run amuck causing trouble.

While stealing from a local store, they're caught and forced to face the rumours spread around town about them. Glen who is ruining another's bright future by dragging him down into a life of delinquency. Hayden however sees it differently, its them against the world and that he may not be able to see the future but for now, they have each other's back.

ACT I

Glen and Hayden run from a corner store, hands full of stolen food

They turn into an alley

The store manager chases after them

ACT 2

They're spotted in the alley

The manager berates them

He brings up the rumours of them being no good rascals

He singles out Glen and advises Hayden to ditch him

Manager leaves the alley

Glen contemplates

Hayden tells Glen to brush it off

Glen mentions that maybe he might be better off without him

Hayden asks " Says who"

Glen brings up the manager and probably everyone in town

Hayden grabs a spray can and starts painting the alley wall

He says he's unsure about the future

He hands Glen a can

He reassures Glen that he has his back now

ACT 3

They paint the mural together

Taking a step back

They nod with approval

Glen tightens his grip and signs their name on it
