I wouldn't say it precedes you exactly, but I've come across your name before. Just bits and pieces, mostly. You tend to leave quite the impression. I've always wondered what you were actually like.
Well, a cup of tea and a gentle conversation never hurt anyone. --Though your weapon-- I can only imagine you are proficient beyond words. I'd love to ask more about it.

Thankfully it wasn't far from here. With a few citizens already gathering up to the courtyard. "I figured you would've been at the demonstration already. What did you say you have planned--?""
“That, teacher, is a surprise as well~!” He gave a little wag of his finger with a cheeky smile. “Besides, I only like going to these things myself if there’s someone to fight…or something to eat.”
He rubbed his belly a few times, before pulling a peach out of seemingly thin air to snack on.
Yi looked out into the crowd, watching it gather into quite the circle. He silently turned on his heels to weave into an opening within the crowd. If he was fast enough, he should be able to get a front seat to the demonstration he previously mentioned. His lens' were useful to weave through the field of spectators, until finally he arrived in the center, where he could observe up close and personal.

Within the courtyard was just one person, performing what looked to be some form of martial art. The movements were slow, gliding through the air like dancing blades.. No wait, those were dancing blades, after all.
Wukong’s eyes practically sparkled as he watched the blades fly through the air like flower petals on the wind. It was a display of such finesse that this fight happy Vastayan couldn’t help but grin. The old man had really pulled through this time.
“Who is THAT?” He leaned in to whisper to his teacher, eyes still transfixed on the ongoing performance.
Yi had been watching the woman's graceful footwork and dexterity, as his lens shimmered from the sunlight. He had to stifle his own amazement as the crowd boomed with 'oohs' and 'aahs' from every which direction. The ionian swordsman couldn't bring himself to reply to his comrade right away-- his mind too fixated on the performance laid before him. Applause ripped through the crowd as she gave her final bows, which was enough to snap Yi out of his spell. "I-- don't know." He admitted softly, turning to look down to Wukong. "Why don't we go find her? Perhaps the two of us could learn something--" Surely the woman hadn't went far, though the crowd was already beginning to funnel inward, impeding their ability to see her.

“Who, me? Why should I?”
The simian did descend ever so slightly, dangling from a tree branch by his tail.
“Why don’t YOU come up HERE?”
Could feel his brows burrowing deep into his eyelids. He forced an exhale. "Isn't it far, too early for this sort of foolery? I figured you'd be kinder on my aging joints." Yi huffed.
“One; I thought old timers like you loved to get up early.” He counted off with his human like digits. “Two; we both know those aging joints ain’t stopping you, and three;” A cheeky upside down frown spread across his face. “It’s NEVER too early for a bit of fun.”
He hops down from the tree, landing on both palms. Then, he starts walking from that position towards the venerable master.
“Besides, we both know you could use some~”
Yi watched his student prowl forward, hands dexterously stepping forward, and stifled a smile.
"Oh, Wukong. I can't tell if your antics are giving me life or taking it away." Yi teased
"You know I'd always spare a moment for a student... though I am on my way to a demonstration. Perhaps you'd like to join me?"
Seeing his teacher struggle to hide his smile only made Wukong’s own grin widen. He loved making someone laugh almost as much as he loved proving them wrong and him right.
“What kinda demonstration?” He asked with a chuckle, hopping forward to land upright in front of Master Yi. “You giving gardening tips to the elderly again? I don’t think you need me there for that.”
"Oh, but who would I be to spoil a surprise." Yi admitted brightly before straightening up, a hand behind his back, and another taking a paper fan and 'bapping' the top of Wukong's scruffy head.
"But if you're interested-- you're going to have to straighten up."

"Pardon?" Yi perked up, and turned to stare down at the young woman, who's gaze burned the hairs on the back of his neck. "Oh, you must have mistaken me for another warrior-- much stronger than I.. and I'm sure more popular too." Yi admitted whimsically, before removing his helmet and hugging it gently at his side. "I can assure you, I have the same amount of eyes as you. Lenses, are a different story." "My name is Yi, and you do not seem to be from around here."

“Sneaking up on the woman fixing a gun isn’t the smartest idea” Oil called out, her voice carrying in the empty factory space as she barely looked up from her soldering. “What do you want?”
"A 'gun' at your age?" Yi was briefly distracted by the stark contrast; a murderous weapon with someone who looked barely old enough to be in the military. The hypocrisy of him carrying five blades at all times was lost upon him. "--Pardon me- I'm actually a little-- " He paused, looking at the spacious land he found himself in. Embarrassment weighed on him. "--Lost."
“I’m twenty five?” Oil paused and looked back at him, confusion at this stranger curling in her chest before it all made sense. . .
She should have guessed, no one local would have questioned the age of gun ownership in Zaun
“Ya don’t say” she drawled, wiping the edge of the soldering iron on the wet sponge- and checking that it was clean- before shoving it into it's holder and turning it off.
Kicking herself around to give him her full attention, her eyes darting from head to toe.
"What's your name stranger?"
Twenty Five. They grow slowly around here.
Yi was careful to keep his hands away from his mounted blades, hands comfortably tucked underneath the billowing swells of his sleeves as his sandals clicked against the hard surface floor. Her tone was reminiscent from villagers from where he lived, a pleasant -- albeit surprising-- blow of nostalgia that tickled his long ears; he offered a short bow before gently tucking a hair back behind them. "My name is Yi, it is a pleasure to meet you." He warmly mused. "But yes, I am lost, though now that I've observed my surroundings, I'm uncertain if I wish to be found. Yet." "Who owns this place?"

Note: This is a headcanon version of Master Yi, boiled down to the nit-grit for roleplaying purposes. If any lore is not mentioned here, then I'm either unaware of it, or intentionally left it out.

Yi's backstory.
Master Yi was once a young child who idolized the swordsman that traveled through his humble village of Wuju, eager to become strong and free of thought like his elders. He trained diligently, so much so that he quickly became known as a 'Young Master' in his own right. These words of encouragement and praise were not enough to sate his desire however, as the infamous 'Wuju Style' was forbidden to be revealed outside of the village's limits. For many years Yi stayed faithful to this golden rule, honing the craft of swordsmanship and poetry alike--
-- that was, until Noxus attacked. With the serenity of his land turned into great calamity, Yi was forced to make a decision that went against everything he held dear. In order to keep the spirit of Wuju alive, he must break his golden rule, and venture into the outside world. Learning of new cultures and fighting styles he's quickly overwhelmed with new knowledge and dangers at every corner. Despite this, he remains hopeful, disciplined, and faithful to his craft, for as long as he draws breath, Wuju lives on.
Yi's Current Hook
For the foreseeable future, Yi's goal is to learn of new cultures, comparing and contrasting them to the culture of his people. He hopes that through this he can learn something that will make his style better and more refined, so that he'll be able to more easily teach his disciples-- whenever he finds one.

Your character guides Yi through foreign lands, helping him remain safe in a world he's not used to.
