lol i like how the mature options in conflict situations is to take no action and let people walk all over you, do what they want with no boundaries ("the high road") or to ignore them and let them continue to be assholes unrestricted and without consequences ("just ignore them").

this doesn't solve the issue. community action does. but when someone does speak up they're called childish and just as bad. lol, lmao even. its like you want the tacit permission the above "mature" options give you to be garbage human beings.

The recent Star Owl controversy had many people scammed out of more than $10 IRL money. She did nothing to enforce consequences on this artist that most people found through her art community because of the "emergency health commissions" scam. Star Owl has also been blatantly harassing other community mods over the span of months, and Moth Artist still allows Star Owl to remain in the community. Not banned or blacklisted for scams or harassment, just not allowed to take commissions under the community's banner anymore.

Having allowed "forget the r*pe" Crawdad Cardinal into the project for well over a year in the first place probably also does not help the look much.

Art may be cheaper from that community in the long run, yes, but that does not mean its mods or owner are flawless super-perfect beings. The bad parts should absolutely be called out.

You miss when it was socially acceptable to bully otherwise non-problematic people as a community. Say it was IC hate only all you want, I remember the absolute malice filled harassment that the community was known for when 'enforcing' whatever lore was socially acceptable. 2) and frankly, that harassment did not match 'muh Cannon' and there's always been non cannon races in SW/OG

I just genuinely have been disappointed with the quality of the expansion. The voice acting feels abundantly fake, the cutscenes feel cobbled together, and everything feels Disney-esque. Like- Can someone tell Blizzard it's okay to have moral conflicts and well written grey areas that- oh wait. They can't write that for shit either.

I am finding myself in a situation where, among everyone I RP with, I am the only one who ever reaches out to plan anything. And when I do, I am deciding the day, the time, the theme, all of it. If I don’t, it doesn’t happen. No one ever reaches out to me, I’m always the reacher. And at this point I feel like I’m the problem, like I’m either not as good a writer as I think I am, or just plain boring. It’s gotten to my head so and that I’m just not reaching out anymore, and I’m seriously considering dropping the hobby altogether.

In my observations on this page I came to the conclusion people do have there issues, and they tend to air them out on here like it’s therapy for them. I think people have this unhealthy obsession on certain topics like child coded characters and no not trying to down play it, if they are actually committing any crimes for sure call them out on it but provide proof it’s that simple. I notice a lot of those call outs no one’s provided evidence which makes me think they are just making it up or lying for attention or clout, then we have the obvious trolls here and crash out moments.

That said I’m starting to think me leaving the RP scene had become a blessing honestly I’ve been happier since and less stressed about a hobby I loved at one point. Even though I may be gone just know I’ll continue to support RP wherever I decide to go and help the hobby grow hopefully in a more less toxic environment

[Good stories don't need to be complicated and hard to follow, nor free of storytelling tropes. Simple can be good, often better.]

I think it all depends on what you want your story to do for yourself and others. In RP if your goal is engagement, simpler is better. Personally, though I love seeing lengthy descriptive “About” sections, I will almost never read anything longer than a 3-sentence paragraph because I just don’t have the attention span or the interest. Maybe for friends but never for walk-ups. It shows me that this character is something someone really put some energy and time into, and not just some throw-away gone-tomorrow toon. But fuck that, I’m not reading their book.

Make your story as complicated as you want, but give folks a tl;dr to sink their ADHD-ridden teeth into as well! No one will likely ever want to know every little detail about your character but those little bits and bites are for you, not them.
