Shout out to my bf for making me draw this for him : P
To be fair, we're the ones biting at the bit to murder, Alma is just the leash. XD
An individual wandered the forest a few minutes, before finding a clearing, and carefully setting down some large old bones. Twisted Remains found in a forest far away. They'd heard there was a monster here that collected such things. They wanted to share something the creature would probably not find in native forests. -@wyvernianhunts

If she stayed hidden and watched, she'd soon come across Hazarmaveth, stumbling onto the bones and sniffing them for a good, long while in bewilderment before his hooves scrabbled against the ground, his paws tearing up the earth as he ran as fast as his legs could carry him.
If she was clever, and patient, she would see him return, holding Stinky in his jaws.
"What do you think of these bones, Meremoth?" Hazarmaveth asked after placing his brother down among the bones.
"Bugs...?" she thought a little. "there are large bugs we harvest from at times... but there are also beetles and flies we keep on hand for potables. I'll tell you what, Stinky, I'll bring you like... a blind bag. full of bugs. keep what you like, deal?"

Jaun's teeth clattered as he opened and closed his jaw thoughtfully.
"Girl, I planned to make you my supper. But if you come bearing offerings, it wouldn't be quite right to eat you." he finally decided. "But you'll do no studying."
"Papa," Hazarmaveth protested, "She's just curious, what'd it hurt to---"
Jaun looked at Hazarmaveth, and the younger rawhead fell silent, lowering his horns. Every inch of his body language spoke submission.
"But we gotta give her a gift back!" Stinky exclaimed with the impertinence of youth, "Maybe we could give her questions instead of a 'hold-it' present!"
Jaun was silent for a long moment, then he settled onto his haunches, snorting steam.
"You can have three questions, girl. One from each of us." Jaun said, "But mind your manners."
"of course. seing as you seem sapient, i'll treat you same as i did the tribes we came across. Er, give me a moment to think." She shut her eyes crossing her arms, she'd have to be careful how she worded the questions, respectful but still topics she was wanting to know. "I suppose, my first question would be to you, sir. What are you? I can not categorize your species by appearance as it looks like you adapt whatever species of bones you feel 'fits' your form."
Jaun lifted his skull to the sunlight, seeming to draw in a slow breath before he spoke.
"Do they have witches, where your from?" He asked her, "You know what a witch is?"
"a magic user, right?" She thought a little "Not in that sense, perse... but wyverians have always had a long lifespan, leaving us to discover and develop processes humans can not. Melding. Smelting. Blacksmithing. Botany. We excel in study. I'm guessing witches are similar. they know how the world works on a very deep level and can influence it, no?"
"Witches, real witches, are creatures of earth and shadow. And when a witch finds her magic, she takes a familiar. An animal that responds to her soul."
"Sometimes it's a dog!" Hazarmaveth added.
"Or a toad!" Stinky joined in.
"Or a hog." Jaun said softly, "there was a witch, and she had a hog for a familiar."
"A hog? LIke... a Poogie? His name is Sir Loin of Ham." she pulled a small photo from her pocket and showed him a picture of her holding a small pink boar in a costume.
"er... I'm guessing this is not a happy story, though... what happened?"
Jaun stared at the picture for a long while before snorting.
"One day, a poacher murdered the witch's familiar. Butchered him until the only thing left of him was a raw, skinned head. The witch, in her grief, cast a spell to raise the bones of her slaughtered familiar. So those stripped, bloody bones climbed to their feet, and ventured into the forest, where they came upon a dying panther. The bloody bones said, "I am but Rawhead and Bloodybones. Will you help me take my vengeance on the poacher?" And the panther agreed, and gave the witch's familiar a set of teeth. Then, he came upon the bones of a bear, and he asked them, "I am but Rawhead and Bloodybones, will you help me take my vengeance on the poacher? And the old bear bones gave him a set of claws. He went on a ways, and came across a rotting raccoon, and once more he said, "I am but Rawhead and bloody bones, will you help me take my vengeance on the poacher?" And the raccoon gave him his tail...."
Jaun proceeded to finish the tale, ending it with, "That was the first Rawhead. There were other witch's familiars, killed before their time, and they became the progenitors, the first of their bloodlines. Our great-great grandfather was the original Rawhead and Bloodybones. Tommy Rawhead. We're descended from the creature that rose from those bloody bones."
"Tenacity and Fury, i can see it being a powerful force..." she frowned a little "We've had poachers to deal with back home as well..." she chewed a thumb thinking "so that explains your maleable nature, and why you feel a bit like an elder dragon.. Elder dragons back home are wyverns too mysterious, too powerful, or too scarce to categorize them anywhere else, generally seen as nature's full fury when they pass an area." She nodded, seeming to understand the context a bit more and what they are. She glanced to Hazarmaveth "A question to you, next, then." She thought, deciding to keep to the them of questioning ecology. "What does a rawhead and bloodybones eat?"
Jaun nodded, surprised and pleased that she'd understood his story.
"Why, that's an easy one!" Hazarmaveth exclaimed, "We eat the stuff that comes from the earth! Vegetables, fruits, mushrooms, humans, sometimes fish...but we never take more'n we need. And nothin goes to waste."
"I see. So food in general is safe for you? I take it you prefer things raw... Remind me to bring gifts whenever i visit. I get the feeling you barter same as any other creature with a mind and will." She then smiled at Stinky, already with a question in mind for the whelp. "What kind of creatures are your favorite? I'll bring more bones. I use scales and bones anyway to make my armor, it would not be hard to bring you some of what i collect."

"What do you think of these bones, Meremoth?" Hazarmaveth asked after placing his brother down among the bones.
She watched a moment, then slowly stepped out, curious, but ready to run if they proved hostile. "So you do exist... the small ball of goo is a surprise though...all the same, hello."
She kept her hands visible and away from the obvious weaponry on her back.
Hazarmaveth bristled, startled that he hadn't been able to scent the skilled hunter.
immediately he steps in front of Stinky, his hackles raised.
"What'you want?" He demanded harshly, no thought of games or new friends.
A soft gasp came from behind him, and instinctively he turned toward the sound.
"Haz, HAZ! I think I found one!" Stinky's skull wobbled on his neck as he circled the bones.
She raised her hands a little more to show she had no intention to fight. "Easy there... i don't hunt self aware critters. Just wanted to see what you'd... do..." she was also distracted by Stinky's cry. There were a range of bones, mostly too large, but among them, was a young dalthydon skull, and some talioth bones of both ribcage and limbs, along with a collection of scales and plates. some large, some relatively small.
Whimpering with excitement, Stinky nosed the rib bones, trying to push his face into them like he could put them on, same as a brand new wool sweater gifted on christmas day.
"This one!" He said, "Haz! It's talkin to me! It died in a fight! A good fight! Oh, it's....it's like how I think a wolf would think, but it's not a wolf, Haz! What do I do?"
"Now, now," Hazarmaveth soothed, "You're gonna do some growing to fit this one, but if it's good bone, it'll fit." He reached out and lifted his brother into his hands, as if gathering palmfuls of liquid.
This, he 'poured' into the neck of the ribcage, and as he did, the four-limbed body seemed to morph into a blob slowly engulfing the bones.
"D'you mind looking over there?" Hazarmaveth said, his aggression tempered by the joy of what was happening, "This part's only meant for Rawhead's and Witch's to see."
"Ah, right, not for me, i get it." she quickly turned her back, covering her eyes with an arm. "i see nothing." She wasn't going to impose where it wasn't proper.
There was a low, squelching sound, like mud sucking the boots off someone's foot, and a sound of bones snapping and crackling.
There was a pause. Then,
"Alright, you can turn and look now. He's done."
Stiny whined a bit at how 'solid' he felt, prodding at his new ribcage.
"It's kinda heavy."
"You got a spine now, your head's gonna be less heavy, promise."
She blinked a little tilting her head. "Interesting choice..." she crouched to look closer. "You picked up talioth bones... pack hunting raptors, vicious little things. They'll charge a monster ten times their size if they think it's wounded. I heard there were creatures in this forest that collected bones, but i didn't know you adapted them to yourselves."
Hildewilde pulled out a thick notebook from her travel bag, showing them pictures of the small wyvern. "this is what they look like, roughly. it's hand drawn, so there's some margin of inaccuracy, but close enough."
"It's a lizard!" Stinky exclaimed excitedly, "Hazarmaveth! A lizard!"
Hazarmaveth peered at the creature, his eyes going wide with disbelief.
"Stinky, do you know what you just did? That's a din-o-saurus!"
"A dinosaurus!?" Stinky exclaimed, miraculously not stumbling over the two-dollar word.
"The oldest bones in the earth!" Hazarmaveth's voice was going shrill with something akin to panic, "They're too powerful for you."
"I, uh. well..." she blinked a little "they are a little prehistoric in origin, but they still live today... I should know, still have a sore butt from fighting them... they bite pretty hard." She blinked then cleared her throat, deciding she should probably give a proper explanation. "They're a subclass of bird wyvern, raptors. despite the namesake, they're not extinct and not really endangered, in fact their numbers can become too numerous and require a culling to preserve the ecosystem. Don't get me wrong, those bones are a few years old at least, collected from a forgotten bone pile, but they're not ancient. I come from a different realm, so our creatures a little intense compared to what's found here."
"Can't I keep it?" Stinky asked, "Please?"
Hazarmaveth rumbled thoughtfully in his throat, looking deeply reluctant to be having this conversation. "Maybe if we ask Papa first...."
A low, melancholy whistle rose through the trees, and Hazarmaveth froze.
"Papa." Stinky whispered.
Hildewilde blinked and slowly slipped something into her slinger just in case. "That... sounds like a problem... should i be concerned?" She slowly looked around trying to figure out where the sound was sourced, her eyes narrowing.
"Do you know the song?" Hazarmaveth asked, looking to her worriedly, "Do you know what the song is?"
"Don't go telling tales, now, boy." Came a low voice from the trees.
"He likes that song." Hazarmaveth finished, bowing his head in submission and retreating from Hildewilde's side.
"Can't say i do... we don't have songs like that where i come from... mostly songs of change, songs of combat...." She narrowed her eyes, and slowly pulled the blade and shield from her back. The weaponry clearly crafted from creatures far larger and stronger than the talioth Stinky just commandeered the bones of. "Sounds like a big one, though. is this an elder dragon? it's giving off the same unnatural vibe..."
The whistling stopped.
"I ain't no dragon, woman." Jaun emerged from the trees, his horses skull bleached white by the sun, ramhorns curving on either side of his head. "Now you put that pig-sticker away and there won't be any trouble."
He wasn't as big as his oldest son, but he was still larger than Hazarmaveth, his skull seemingly locked in a rictus grin as he brought his claws forward, walking on all fours.
"Papa, she didn't harm us none." Hazarmaveth said, "Besides, Stinky found a bone!"
Jaun's eyes shifted from Hildewilde to his youngest, a small intake of breath the only indication of his surprise.
Stinky stepped forward, reaching out and touching a hand to his father's in greeting.
"What sort of animal did this come from?" Jaun demanded after giving the bone a sniff, "It doesn't smell like the forest."
"no, not a forest. Where i come from, er... long story short, we discovered people living in a forbidden area, long thought abandoned, so we set out in expedition. Many of these bones were gathered from the Wind's Gasp desert. A place tormented by fallow and inclemency in cycles. Your little one chose the bones of a flightless bird wyvern called a talioth. Vicious pack hunters. light bones, sharp teeth and claws." She hesitantly sheathed her weapon back onto her back, as he didn't seem to be aggressive at the moment. "I come from a different world than this one. But my job as a guild hunter, more so than hunting, is to study unknown creatures and how they interact in ecosystems. when i heard this forest had bone collecting species, i had to see for myself. So i brought offering."

An individual wandered the forest a few minutes, before finding a clearing, and carefully setting down some large old bones. Twisted Remains found in a forest far away.

This is for Dragor, have you ever been scared of any monsters?
Raising the dead on this forgotten blog i see XD fine, i'll let the man speak for once, usually it's Hildewilde getting all the attention.
