3x23. “Wetwired” - X-Files Rewatch

Standing close at the psychiatric hospital.

The contrast between Mulder’s careless pile of tapes and Scully’s neatly stacked ones.

Scully’s worst fear is Mulder’s betrayal. Her face when she first “sees” him in the car with CSM. Her face in the morning, you can just SEE her mind whirling. Asking him about the car moving and watching him to gauge his reaction, wondering if she really knew him at all. Mulder’s normally vague answers igniting her suspicions instead of relying on her trust. (GA is absolutely amazing - portraying Scully’s slow descent into paranoia and vulnerability.)

LGM!

“Scully, is there something wrong?” When they’re on the phone. Scully’s huddled against the receiver and is being incredibly paranoid. Her increasingly intense destruction of the hotel room. Knocking over her neatly stacked video tapes. Her crouch when the car pulls up.

Maggie’s reaction when Mulder calls. “What is it, what’s the matter?” 😥 She only knows him through tragedy.

This episode could have ended so differently, if someone else had managed to find her before Mulder, or she hadn’t managed to get to her mother’s house.

Mulder’s reactions/emotions when he thinks he has to identify Scully’s body - kicking the tire of the car is SO HIM - acting out physically with his frustration/angst. (Wonderful performance by DD.)

“Scully, you are the only one I trust.” (Finally, Mulder’s taking Scully’s advice!)

MAGGIE SAVES THE DAY ❤️ I just love Gillian this whole episode, but this scene - oof.
