Dovevo dirtelo prima che avrei fatto l’università, era una sorpresa che avevo riservato tutta per te. Stavo accumulando soldi ogni mese per potermi iscrivere senza chiederti un euro. Dovevi esserci alla mia laurea, in prima fila a sentirmi. Dovevi vedere con i tuoi occhi la mia casa quando mi sarei trasferito. Dovevi fare tante cose, troppe. Mi sveglio in preda al panico, la nonna mi aveva detto che stavi male. Vengo da te e ti vedo dolorante, non riuscivi a parlare, a respirare, quasi a muoverti. E per la prima volta vedo la tua fragilità. Mi prendi per mano e mi dici: Danio, non mi lasciare. Ed io ero lì, con te a supportarti. “Danio, mi sento un corpo morto... ho bisogno di riposare.” Queste sono state le tue parole che mi hanno fatto male, malissimo, ma che hanno acceso in me un campanello d’allarme, perché io ti ho sempre visto ai miei occhi immortale, come la persona che non se ne sarebbe mai andata. Chiamo l’ambulanza, arriva in ritardo e dal primo momento all’ultimo gli infermieri ti hanno maltrattato. Ti hanno portato in ospedale, senza sirene, con codice verde, e sono arrivato prima io con la macchina che loro. Per 12 ore sono stato fuori ad aspettarti, ad aspettare di vederti per farti vedere che non eri solo ma che io ero lì. Dopo 12 ore e mezza finalmente ti danno una stanza in ospedale, ma era troppo tardi. Il 6 febbraio ho perso la persona più importante della mia vita, il mio pilastro, il mio “papà”, la mia forza. Ho perso mio nonno, ho perso la mia vita dopo che ho vissuto con lui da quando sono nato, nella sua casa. Se n’è andato in meno di 24h, la mattina stessa prima di star male rideva, scherzava e andava a far la spesa, pagava da solo le bollette, era un leone. Ma posso essere fiero di aver ricevuto da lui il saluto più bello di tutti. Mi allontano per due ore, per riposare un attimo perché ovviamente non avrei mai pensato al peggio... e invece mi arriva la chiamata: Il nonno è peggiorato, vuoi venire a trovarlo? Io arrivo all’ospedale il prima possibile. E lo vedo. Steso sul letto. In coma. Non dava segni di vita, respirava grazie al respiratore. I miei parenti prendevano la sua mano, ma lui non dava segni. Ed è in quel momento che mi sono avvicinato.. ho preso la sua mano... e all’improvviso sento una forza incredibile. Mi stringe la mano, la porta vicino al suo petto, e dopo pochi secondi... va via. Mi ha aspettato, senza di me non sarebbe andato da nessuna parte. Era in coma, ma la mia mano l’ha riconosciuta fra tante. Addio nonno, addio. Resterai per sempre una parte di me, sei... e sarai sempre, il mio eroe.
Ma io voglio capire qual'è il problema di restare a casa. Tutto l'anno siete asociali di merda Netflix e pizza tutta la notte e adesso improvvisamente tutti amanti delle passeggiate.
