“You are.” she nodded head her head. “What if we get fired?” Maia asked looking up at him, she didn’t want to get in trouble with her boss. She didn’t want him to her in trouble.

Xander shrugged. “Then there’ll be other jobs to get. It’s not that hard,” he said looking down at her. There was a brief moment of silent before he leaned down a little and kissed her.

“You’re like a teddy bear, that’s why.” Maia said, chuckling lightly. She rested her head on his chest and sighed softly. “I’m so not looking forward to work to be honest. I just wanna lay here all night.”

“Am I that comfortable to sleep on?” he joked, but was pleased at her words. “We can just skip work then. We can just stay like this.” Even saying the words he knew how wrong they sounded. He had a girlfriend, who happened to be her roommate after all.

“You don’t have to sleep. We can talk or just rest for a while.” she smiled, glad that he didn’t leave her alone. Maia cuddled up to him again, liking the closeness between the two. A little too much, probably.

“Admit it Maia, you only want to cuddle with me that’s why you want me to lie down with you,” he chuckled, knowing in every fibre of his being that this was wrong but making no effort to move and instead wrapped his arms around her.

“It’s not my favorite.” Maia said, chuckling lightly. “Stay here.” she said, pulling his hand so he could lay on the bed with her. “We can take a nap together before we have to go to work.”

“I’m not tired though,” he said, but he didn’t make any move to get away from her or to move away and simply laid down next to her.

Maia only opened her eyes a little when she was placed on the bed. She let out a yawned and looked at him. “I fell asleep?” she rubbed her eyes and yawned again. Maia didn’t even know why she fell asleep, she wasn’t tired before. Or was she?

Xander froze when she spoke. Had he woken her up? “Duh,” he chuckled, a small smile on his face. “I guess the movie was boring for you. Just go to sleep Maia, don’t worry about it.”

Maia kept her attention on the movie, but after about thirty minutes her eyes started to close. The brunette tried to fight it but before she realized, she had fallen asleep against Xander.

Xander was focused on the movie, enjoying it and it was only partway through that he realized Maia had fallen asleep. He let out a sigh, debating on what to do for a moment before turning off the movie and picking her up and carrying her to bed.

Maia was a little surprised when he wrapped his arm around her, pulling her closer. She looked up at him, smiling softly and cuddled in closer. Although she knew this wasn’t exactly right, he was dating her roommate. The least she could do was keep some distance between the two, but she didn’t want to. He made her feel safe, so why should she?A soft sigh left her lips and she turned her attention back to the TV. It’s not like they were doing anything wrong anyways, just cuddling while watching a movie..

Every fibre of his being told him this wasn’t right, but it argued with the part of him that said he was doing nothing wrong. It was hard to focus on the movie by having Maia so close. Although he knew if Kim were there, she’d probably freak out and a part of Xander, a bigger part than he’d like to admit, didn’t really care. Him and Kim had been drifting apart for a while anyway.

“Is this one your favorite one?” she asked, looking up at him. Maia had been feeling much more comfortable around Xander lately. Probably since they were spending so much time together and he was always taking good care of her. She felt like she could trust him.

“It is,” Xander nodded. It was funny how Xander seemed to see Maia more than he saw Kim and how they spent much more time together than him and Kim did. It was also funny how she didn’t even seem to care or notice where Maia was staying and Xander hadn’t bothered to tell her that she had been with him. He only wanted the best for her, after all. Whether it was just the mood in that moment or something that had been lingering for a long time, Xander wasn’t sure but he shifted so that he could wrap an arm around her shoulder and pull her closer.

“Okay.” Maia said putting the movie on and leaned closer to him, leaning her head against his arm as she made herself comfortable on the couch.

Xander adjusted himself on the couch so he was comfortable as well. He froze for a moment when Maia suddenly cuddled against him, but didn’t think much of it. He patted the top of her head as the movie began to play.

“Fine, we won’t’ watch a romance movie. Can we watch one of those Fast and Furious ones instead? They had a bit of romance in it. And a lot of action and stuff.”

“That’s fine with me. We can watch the third one,” he nodded. “I’m pretty sure that one’s on Netflix too, so that’s good.”

“Come on, why can’t we watch a romance movie? Please!” she said, holding his arm. “Please, please. I could really use a good romance movie right now.”

“You can watch a romance movie then, I’ll just go to bed,” he shrugged.

“No, we’re not calling it even.” she said as she took his plate and washed it as well, then put it away. Once she finished, she went to the couch and sat down. “Let’s watch a movie, Xander. There should be something good playing tonight, right? There’s usually good movies on Thursdays night.”

Xander let out a sigh but didn’t say anything. The last thing they needed was to argue over such a silly matter. He followed her back to the living room and took a seat next to her on the couch. “If not, I have Netflix and that definitely has good movies on it if there’s nothing on TV. You can pick what we watch but no romance movies or rom-coms, that’s my only rule.”

“Would you just let me do something nice for you? Please. I’m gonna do it anyways so just accept it. You’ve done so much for me and I just want to do something for you too, okay?” she said, before she continued eating the food. After she finished, she put her plate in the dishwasher and started washing everything. “Can you bring me your plate when you finished, too?”

“Maia, you’re so stubborn,” he sighed, frowning. He couldn’t understand why she wouldn’t just let it go and listen to him, but he supposed she had just always been that way. He finished his own plate and got up, following her to the kitchen and handed her his plate. “You can do the dishes then. We’ll call that even.”

“I grateful though so I want to do something for you, too.” she said, putting her hand on him.

“I think you’ve done enough of doing things for the sake of other people Maia,” he said quietly. “Don’t worry about it. Just live your life and don’t dwell on such matters.”

“Xander! What are your food allergies? You can’t do that to me. How am I supposed to make you a nicely cooked homecooked meal unless I know what you’re allergic to?”

“Don’t worry about it Maia, it’s not a big deal. Just stay here and treat this like its your own place and don’t think about things like paying me back or owing me one. I don’t do these things expecting you to do something in return.”

“Well, I’m actually gonna cook it for you and leave it for whenever your hungry. I’ll heat it up then and you’ll have a nice homecooked meal to eat. I just have to stop by the market first so I can get the ingredients.”

“Oh. Well, that’s fine too. Did I mention I have food allergies? A few of them. Some not so common, but quite a few that are very common so good luck trying to figure out what those foods are and not killing me.”

“Alright, but I owe you anyways. Next time is my treat, okay? Don’t even try to find a way to get of it.”

“That’s fine with me, but I eat out on a strict schedule and I never deviate from it and I get super offended if someone tries to change it, so given that, good luck trying to find the right time to buy it.”
