Astrid led the boy to a good spot outside, where there wasn’t anything blocking their view of the sky. “What kind of shapes are your special constellations?”

Xavier drops down, sitting on the grass, his head looking above them at the stars, “Lots of stuff! Theres lots of animals!”

“I do too. Whenever I feel sad I look at them and they make me feel better.” Claire says smiling walking over to the door holding it open for him. “I can’t promise that you can do this every night, but if you can find me I can see if you can.”

“Me toos!” he gives a small smile as he peers back at her, nodding his head, “When I feel sad they make me feel happy. Does you promise?” he pauses at the door.

“When I was little my dad used to show me some, but I don’t really remember any of them.” Astrid paused as she pulled her keys out to open the door to go outside. “Making them up sounds much more fun, do you think you can show me the constellations you’ve made up?”

“Real ones?” he spoke softly, peering back at her before nodding at the question, “Yeah! I can share my special ones with you!”

Claire looked up at the stars smiling. “I do they are really pretty.” Claire says smiling before checking her phone to see what time it was. “We can stay out here for another minute but then we have to go back in.”

Xavier lay back, his eyes taking in the stars above, he gave a small nod at her words but for this moment he was enjoying the chance of the familiar sight. “I love love the stars.”

Claire smiled seeing how happy he was. “It’s really pretty tonight isn’t it?” Claire says softly looking up at the sky.

Xavier gave a small laugh as he lay on the grass, arms stretched out as he peers up at the sky above, “Uh-huh! It’s beautiful! See the stars!” he calls out, pointing above them, “Its so pretty!”

“That is absolutely right. And, you don’t even have to draw anything specific–you can just scribble and color all over the paper and still make it look pretty. If you like it, then that’s all the matters.”

“Uh-huh! Thats why its my favorite thing - when you does school stuffs you can be wrongs - but when you draws its never ever wrongs cause you draws what you feels!”

“I’m okay at it. I’m not the best either. Drawing is about having fun, don’t worry about how good it is not–just have fun. Make it pretty, make it what you want. As long as you like it, that’s what matters.”

“Yeah! Drawing is for fun! So it doesn’t matters if you aren’t the bestest cuase you have fun making pretty pictures.”

Astrid put her hand around his small hand and continued walking. “I guess stars are pretty comforting. Do you know where any constellations are?”

Xavier’ glanced up at the question before shaking his head, “Nah-ah, but I like makin ups my own cons’tilations! Its fun - do you know any real ones?”

“Yep! You’re in luck then. i think I saw an extra step stool in the rec room.”

“Reallies? Can I borrow its?”

Claire opened the door for the boy to be able to go outside and see the starts. “I understand that. I like looking at the stars also.” Claire said smiling at him.

As soon as the door was open he ran out, a wide smile on his face as he looked up at the sky before flopping down and laying on the grass, his hand reached out towards the sky as if he was drawing pictures in the stars.

Astrid let out a sigh of resignation. “Alright, but only for a few minutes. Let’s go,” she smiled as she began walking toward the door. “Why do you like ‘em so much?”

Xavier gave a small smile before reaching out for her hand, “Cause they make me feel betters - I don’t feel scared when I sees them - cause even if I’m far -far away the stars is the sames.”
