by the way the sun had slowly began to descend into the skyline’s horizon, it would have surely meant that all members of the group were back inside the protective walls of the museum by now. to be trapped outside during nightfall had been once yorkie’s fatal fear when he had wandered alone. it was a disadvantage, where so normally it was an advantage due to being able to attack your enemies easier however that didn’t deem to be the case in this situation.
sliding the cuff of his shirt up his forearm to take a peek at his watch that hadn’t moved since the day where he fell on top of it as a child, the male decided it was best to check on how each individual was doing and if anything out of the ordinary had occurred. strolling along the showcases, combat boots echoing throughout the vacant hall, weapon sheathed. halting upon a door, his hand upcoming to lightly knock against the wood, yorkie awaited a welcome ( hopefully ).
the sound of water dripping somewhere off in the distance was the only thing xander’s wandering mind could use to distract itself with; the past hour had been filled with him being bored out of his mind. staying holed up in a museum all day had been the worst thing xander could’ve possible imagined, and he’s been living in an apocalypse. not only had he hated history in the first place ( years of learning about oppression did that to someone ), but there wasn’t anything to even entertain himself with except for a couple pamphlets about the place.
finally mustering up the energy to amuse himself, he walked to his backpack to begin searching through the pockets. his hand ran over the contents of his backpack ( which was really just a lot of food ), when his finger touched a sharp corner of something flimsy. a gasp of remembrance escaped his lips as he lifted the picture from his bag, a small smile replacing it as he stared at his family. a stoic expression then settled itself on his face, as he was getting lost in the thoughts of those fateful nights. he, in fact, had been so sidetracked that he hadn’t even heard the footsteps to his door -- only the knock. licking his lips, re replied with “ come in ! ” glancing one last time at the picture, he quickly stuffed it into his back pocket.
